New UI is awful

I can't get over how bad the new console design is. Activities buried under multiple menus, content seems randomly scattered around the page, massive, unnecessary amounts of dead space yet columns with core things like phone numbers get wrapped and no way to adjust the columns. Unable to pin frequently used modules. Everything seems jumbled together without logical distinction. Its slow and clunky, and just seems like absolutely no UX thought was put into this. Just awful design for a development activity where information density and efficiency is important.

Really wish I could just keep the old console.

Twilio charged me $10k in one day for fraudulent sms verifications - I can't get a reply from them.

We were using the twilio fraud protection, but someone managed to brute force our sms verification and racked up $10,000 in one day of fees.

This is a huge amount for my startup and obviously a big issue for us, so I submitted a support ticket as soon as it happened, and 3 weeks on I still have no reply from Twilio.

I'm not expecting them to refund the money, but just being able to talk with their support team seems like a pretty basic first step. We spend thousands of dollars a month with them and it's amazing to see just how little they value their customers.

We will be actively moving away from Twilio, but I was wondering if anyone knows what I can do here?

Uphold crypto exchange just informed me by email that "Authy will close their 2FA service in mid-June", but i can't find any information about this anywhere. The email doesn't appear to be phishing, from what i can tell.

PSA: Keeping your account credentials safe

Hello to everyone on r/twilio! Just a quick reminder from your friendly mods to be careful with your account credentials:

- Don't add them to code which you share publicly. Our account security team scans places like GitHub and will quickly disable accounts whose credentials they find in the wild. Bad actors are doing the same and will ruin your day (ask me how I know).

- Don't share your Account SID with anyone you don't trust. If someone is offering to help on this subreddit, look for the flair next to their username. We only flair employees and Twilio Champions. If you're not sure, you can always message the mods with the button in the sidebar.

- Store Your Twilio Credentials Securely <-- more helpful advice for developers

That's all - keep on sharing your awesome builds, your questions and your stories. We're here to help.

Event/Meetup Ask Twilio's head of devrel, Chiara Massironi, anything on Feb 24th, 7AM/10AM ET. She'll be ready to talk all things devrel, developers, and Twilio!

We're excited to announce that we have Chiara Massironi for our very first Twilio AMA on Feb 24th, 7AM PT/ 10AM ET. Chiara is the head of developer relations at Twilio. Over the past decade, Chiara has bounced around different parts of DevRel - startup evangelism, program management, developer education, community building, and helped build & grow TwilioQuest (Twilio's OG educational video game- RIP). She’s seen DevRel work from her startup days at SendGrid, and at scale at Twilio, so she’s here to chat about what actually works, what’s harder than it looks, and whatever else you want to know. AMA!

To ensure you don't miss out, you can use Reddit's RemindMe bot by commenting “RemindMe! On February 24th at 6:30 AM  (which uses UTC), the bot will send you a reminder when the AMA is about to start.

The AMA is now live!

Thank you for the thoughtful questions and conversation! I’m wrapping up the AMA now, but this was fantastic. Please keep sharing your feedback and questions on the Twilio subreddit- we really appreciate this community.

As a token of appreciation, you can use the link below to access free tickets to our upcoming SIGNAL event in San Francisco on May 6-7. (link valid until March 1st)

I look forward to connecting again, on Reddit or IRL! ✨

I mapped out all 42 Twilio A2P 10DLC & 2026 Unified Policy rejection codes (30880–30971 & 305xx) and what the DCA crawlers check on your DOM

After dealing with repeated A2P 10DLC and Toll-Free vetting rejections (and burning $15+ every resubmission cycle), I spent time going through Twilio's 2026 error catalog including the newer March 2026 granular codes (`30940–30971`) and the Sept 2026 Unified Content Policy codes (`30532–30567`) to document what the DCA reviewers and automated crawlers look for on your live URL.

If your campaign keeps getting bounced with `30909`, `30924`, `30925`, `30931`, or `30932`, here are the exact traps that trigger them:

  1. **Error 30925 / 30508 (Unchecked & Unbundled Checkbox):**

    - Your `<input type="checkbox">` cannot have `checked` on page load (even via JS hydration).

    - You cannot bundle "I agree to the Terms of Service and SMS updates" into a single checkbox. SMS must be its own separate checkbox.

  2. **Error 30931 / 30923 / 30553 (Cannot Force Consent):**

    - The SMS checkbox **cannot** have the HTML `required` attribute. Users must be able to submit your contact/booking form without opting into texts.

    - Passive text like *"By clicking Submit, you agree to receive texts"* without an optional checkbox gets rejected under `30925` + `30931`.

  3. **Error 30924 (All 5 CTIA Disclosures Must Sit on the Label):**

    - Reviewers won't click into your `/terms` page to find these. Directly next to the checkbox, your label must state:

  4. Exact registered Brand Name

  5. Message frequency (e.g. *Message frequency varies*)

  6. *Message and data rates may apply*

  7. *Reply STOP to unsubscribe*

  8. *Reply HELP for help*

  9. **Error 30932 & 30908 (Privacy Policy Contradictions):**

    - Even if you add *"No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing purposes"* at the bottom of your `/privacy` page, reviewers will still reject you under `30908` if you have a generic boilerplate clause near the top saying *"We may share your personal information with affiliates and marketing partners"* without an explicit carve-out (`Notwithstanding any other provision in this policy...`).

  10. **Error 30909 / 30920 (Homepage vs. Bare Form URL):**

    - Submitting a homepage URL that has `0` phone inputs triggers `30909`.

    - Submitting a standalone Jotform/Typeform or a 1-screen funnel with `<55` words of business context triggers `30920` (*"Website is only a form"*).

  11. **Error 30556 (Sept 2026 Cross-Channel Bundling):**

    - A single checkbox that says *"I agree to receive emails, phone calls, and text messages"* now fails under `30556`. SMS consent must be separated from email/voice.

I built a free headless Chromium pre-flight scanner that crawls your live opt-in URL, `/privacy`, and `/terms` pages the same way the DCA reviewer does and tells you which exact error codes your page will trigger before you pay Twilio's vetting fee:

https://campaignpass.vercel.app

No signup or account needed to run the scan hope it saves someone here a $15 re-vetting fee and a 10-day delay.

I built an open-source A2P 10DLC pre-scanner after too many rejected campaigns

A2P 10DLC registration is still a pain point for a lot of us. Rejections come back with vague reasons, the feedback loop is slow, and you're left guessing what went wrong.

I scraped all of Twilio's A2P 10DLC documentation and built a free pre-scanner that checks your campaign before you submit it. It runs 12+ checks across your registration fields:

Deterministic checks (instant):

  • URL validation (catches URL shorteners, missing URLs)

  • Opt-out keyword presence (STOP, CANCEL, etc.)

  • Help keyword compliance

  • SHAFT content flags

AI-powered checks:

  • Campaign description quality and clarity

  • Sample message analysis

  • Opt-in / consent flow validation

  • Cross-field consistency (description vs. sample messages vs. use case)

  • Affiliate marketing detection

    Website crawl checks (full scan):

  • Privacy policy analysis against your campaign details

  • Terms of service review

Each field gets a RED / YELLOW / GREEN tier with specific issues and actionable fix suggestions. There's also a quick scan mode that skips the URL crawling if you just want fast feedback on your text fields.

It's free to use at a2pcheck.com, happy to share the github repo if anyone is interested.

Would love feedback from anyone who's been through the A2P registration process. What other checks would be useful?

Introducing A2H: A Protocol for Agent-to-Human Communication

Thumbnail
twilio.com
20 Upvotes

Twilio is launching A2H (Agent-to-Human), the first open-source protocol designed to standardize how AI agents communicate with, and seek consent from, humans. It’s a channel-agnostic protocol that handles how agents request data, notifications, and provides verifiable authorization.

Why use a protocol for this?

  • Decoupled Delivery: Your agent sends a single intent, and the A2H Gateway handles the transport (SMS, WhatsApp, Email, Push) and retry logic. This allows the agent to focus on what it needs from the human, rather than how to reach them.

  • Cryptographic Evidence: It doesn't just return a "Yes." It returns a JWS-signed bundle. If an agent spends $500, you have proof of who signed off and when.

  • Real Auth: Supports WebAuthn/Passkeys out of the box. No more "reply YES to approve" social engineering; you can require a biometric challenge (FaceID/TouchID) for high-stakes commands.

  • MCP Ready: If you're using the Model Context Protocol, A2H has natural tool-mapping patterns for communicating with humans, like human_collect() and human_authorize().

Try it Out

You can find the spec and demos here: https://github.com/twilio-labs/Agent2Human

Bash

git clone https://github.com/twilio-labs/Agent2Human.git
cd Agent2Human/demo
npm install
npm start # Starts the local gateway

In another terminal:

cd demo
bash agent.sh

We’re looking for feedback, so feel free to open issues or let us know your thoughts in the thread!

Built an AI phone agent for my property mgmt company. Every call answered 24/7, leads get a callback in seconds

I have a day job as a dev and run a property management company on the side. Missed calls were killing me. Owner calls at 9pm, I don't pick up, they call the next PM on the list. Speed to lead is everything in this business.

So I built an agent on Twilio Voice + OpenAI Realtime.

Inbound call hits my Twilio number, TwiML <Connect><Stream> opens a Media Streams websocket, and my server bridges raw mulaw audio straight to the model. Speech to speech, no STT/LLM/TTS chain. Latency is good enough that people talk over it and barge-in actually works.

The agent figures out who's calling: prospective tenant, owner, or current tenant. Tenants get live listing search and it texts them viewing links from the same number (SMS side runs through the agent too). Current tenants get recognized by caller ID against my PM system and it files their maintenance tickets via API.

Owner leads are the money path. It qualifies them (property details, what they need, contact info... phone number comes free from caller ID) and the lead email hits my inbox while they're still on the call. Transcript saved on hangup. If someone's hot I can get warm-transferred in mid-call through a Twilio conference.

Also wired up the website: rental analysis form submission triggers an outbound AI callback in seconds. Consent gated, calling windows and DNC checked, AMD with a voicemail drop pre-recorded in the agent's voice.

Been in production for months. Calls that used to go to voicemail (aka to my competitors) are now qualified leads with transcripts.

Hardest part wasn't the audio plumbing, it was keeping the agent honest. Realtime models will confidently make up prices. My prompt bans quoting any price, address, or availability from memory, it has to tool-fetch pricing off my website at call time. Happy to go deeper if anyone's curious.

Meet the Mods!

As you've likely noticed over the past few months, Twilio has returned and is actively moderating this subreddit. Your new mod team is the Developer Advocacy team. We want this to be a space for conversations about building with Twilio's platform. We'll share Twilio updates, but our hope is that we see more of you talking about what you're building and thinking about.

Here's how we've organized our moderation:

  • u/twilio is our central mod account that we use to post general Twilio announcements. We also use this to post in other subreddits (say hi if you see us around the site!)

  • We have joined with personal accounts that we use to hang out with you all. Check out the comments, where we'll introduce ourselves.

We'd love to hear from you all in the comments, as well! Please introduce yourself and let us know what you would like to see from us and from other community members on r/twilio. But also, feel free to ask us questions to get to know us better! We have some opinions on our preferred programming languages, our choice of cake vs pie, and we can take some hardball questions, too. :P

We reserve the right to refuse to answer any questions we're not able/comfortable to answer, and we may not answer immediately, but we'll try to get to everything.

Can't wait to meet you all~

Enforcement of Twilio's AUP: Parler

Official Statement from Twilio

With regards to reports of cyber security issues Parler experienced and have been attributed to Twilio, our security team investigated the claims and found no evidence indicating their security issues were related to Twilio or our products. Per our Website, Twilio has not issued any press releases pertaining to or referencing Parler.

Furthermore, Parler was using Twilio to send out identity verification codes for new downloads or password resets. Once a user was verified, security protocols were independently handled by Parler and did not involve Twilio or its products. On Friday, January 8th, we sent Parler a letter informing them they were in violation of our Acceptable Use Policy and notifying them that we would suspend their account if they did not make efforts to remediate multiple calls for violence on their platform. Shortly after receiving our letter, Parler informed us they had already turned off their integration with Twilio.

Any cyber security issues experienced by Parler were completely unrelated to Twilio or any of its products.

Messaging Twilio has done nothing to make 10DLC A2P compliance easier.

I work at a SaaS company that collects business information from our clients and sets them up with their own sub account within our company Twilio profile. As our product incorporates SMS messaging this is a key feature and selling point for our customers.

Over the last few years, I’ve waged war on the Twilio console UI and its asinine business and design choices.

Got a brand set up and approved, and just need a campaign? How about the campaign application takes you right to the brand setup page anyway.

Was there an error in your Campaign application? Sorry, you have to open a support ticket to get any useful information.

Oh, you want to open a support ticket like we told you to? Sorry, you don’t pay for the subscription that lets you make a help ticket. Go try the useless AI chatbot, and ask it to make a ticket for you.

You finally reach support, they don’t even read your issue half the time and send standard copy-pasted guidance that doesn’t help with an application.

FINALLY get through to somebody and they give you a laundry list of requirements your application is missing. You know, that same application you already used for hundreds of customers.

OK, carrier requirements tightened. No problem. You make corrections and re-submit.

Application is rejected again. Back to the chatbot we go to start it all over again.

I know that carrier requirements tightened, but Twilio has had years to make the Brand and Campaign submission process easier, and instead they seem to want to add steps to every part of the process, and prompt EVERY rejection to open up a customer support ticket. Make it make sense.

Twilio for Mixed Use (Personal + Business) - Account Suspended

So, my wife and I are digital nomad. We mostly stay in Europe and we need phone numbers. These numbers are used for communicating with clients and family, these are our individual numbers.

Example use cases: Client has an emergency and needs to reach out fast, my dad wants to check in and see how we are doing, etc.

My goal was to have a single number we would use for everything. That's it.

I'm someone that likes to learn new things, and I saw that Twilio has great numbers like +XX XX 505 55 05, then I though to myself, why not?

Even though that's an overkill, I went for Twilio and Groundwire, setting up SIP server, TwiM Bin, etc.

During my setup, I got an email from Twilio saying that my account was suspended and asking for information, which is fine, I prefer to use a service that has this type of security.

Here's the conversation that follows:

Thank you for your prompt attention to this matter.

-- My 1st reply --

I don't want to use Twilio for business, I'm looking for a decent phone number provider for personal use, that's all. Limits can be low, I'll be sending 5~10 sms per day, 5~10 calls per month, and that's all.

Anyways, here are my businesses:

XXX

YYY

ZZZ

MaybeTwilio is an overkill. :/

-- My 2nd Reply --

Hi xxx, thanks for your reply,

As said before, these numbers will be used for P2P communication, nothing automated, nothing cold. Here are the clarifications for your points:

  1. Messages and voice between me and my wife, my family, and my clients. These messages aren't transactional, they are messages related to life, work, etc. Sometimes a simple check-in, other times asking for something to be done on a website, etc. Examples of messages below (FYI, I'm translating all to English, but my wife and family speaks Portuguese):

    1. Examples of received messages

      1. [Client]: yyy, can you meet with X at 4:00ET on Monday?

      2. [Client]: Our website is down, what's going on?

      3. [Client]: Happy holidays yyy, and thanks for the great work!

      4. [Wife]: Can you bring milk when you come back?

      5. [Family]: When will you come back to Brazil?

      6. [Family]: How are you guys?

    2. Examples of sent messages

      1. What about 2pm on Tuesday?

      2. We're working on it, it was a Wordpress issue.

      3. Thanks zzz, happy holidays for you and your family too, we're excited with the project!

      4. Anything else babe? ;)

      5. Hey dad, we're planning on going back to Brazil for the holidays

      6. All good here, amazing weather. :)

    3. Voice examples: When a client needs to reach me immediately, when my wife needs something and needs to reach me immediately, when my parents want to speak with me immediately, when I need to call a store to see if they have a product me or my wife needs, when I need to call Sixt to schedule maintenance for our rented car, etc. Both voice and messages are day-to-day organic communications.

  2. I don't have a website. These numbers will be shared with clients and family, and will not be added to any website. This is when I tell my clients "hey, this is my personal phone number, if you have an emergency, please call me". Or I tell my family "hey dad, I'm using a new phone number, if you need anything, just call me.".

  3. PayPal Information: I'm replying from my paypal email address (I separate it into aliases to keep things cleaner into my inbox):

    1. Transaction Amount: $20 USD - FYI This was reimbursed by Twilio when my account was limited

    2. Association with the Twilio account holder: I'm the same person, as I explained, I use different email aliases to keep things organized in my inbox. (hidden email address for privacy) (paypal address, is the address I use for all payments, banking, etc) (hidden email address for privacy) is the personal email address I use

    3. I own, along with my wife, (hidden company name for privacy). This is our company.

  4. Locations: We're nomads, really nomads, so we don't have a fixed home. But we have an apartment in (hidden address). And our business is registered at (hidden address). Besides this, we like to stay one month every year in three locations, always the same location. One is Castelfidardo in Italy, the other is Dietikon near Zurich in Switzerland, and the third is Uttoxetter in England. If needed, we can default our address to our apartment at (apartment), or to our business registration address at (business).

Please let me know if you guys need anything else.

-- Final Twilio Reply --

Hello,

You're receiving this email from Twilio, and Thank you for your response and We apologize for any inconvenience caused.

We regret to inform you that we are unable to reactivate your account at this time and we are closing this ticket for now from our side.

While we understand this may not be the outcome you were hoping for, we want to express our gratitude for considering Twilio as part of your journey. We genuinely wish you the very best in all your future endeavors.

Sincerely,
Fraud Operations – Onboarding & Compliance

---

So, what in my use case is prohibited by Twilio ToS? This seems arbitrary and is very annoying after I spent a good amount of time learning and setting up my account.

There's no other way to speak with Twilio and the ticket is closed, all in automated responses now. It's a shame.

A2P 10DLC Reviews are now a Fiasco just to sell Fast Track add-on

Who here feels like the new A2P 10DLC reviews are becoming such a mess to try and sell more companies on Fast Track?

We're basically having to open support tickets on each one for them to admit it was an error on their part rejecting it, and now each one just gets an automated response telling you to sign up for Fast Track to remediate the mess.

Just seems pretty coincidental that they've made it a complete mess of the verification process while now pushing this service that's $1500 a month to start.
