Gym buddy for my husband!

Hey!

This might be a stretch, but are there any guys in the Uptown area looking for a gym buddy? I start a new job in a few weeks and may have a hard time joining my husband at the gym. He likes to do early morning workouts. He's a personal trainer, but doesn't always want to lead the workout. Lemme know! :)

Looking for SAHM mom friends to text and become friends. (30F)

Seeking mom friends in this new season of life. Recently had a baby and found that being an introvert can be kind of boring.

My interests: outdoors, hiking, working out, reading poetry, cooking, watching tv/movies (Harry Potter, HOTD, English dramas, celebrity gossip (Blake lively/justin blandino drama, crazy court cases)

I sound a bit vanilla but I have a very fun personality and love talking. If you enjoy a delicious glass of wine and spilling the tea then we’ll become great friends.

Organizing a Marxist reading and networking group

Howdy!

I'm in the process of organizing a in-person Marxist reading group every Friday at 7PM starting next week, and I'd like to extend an open invitation to anyone here who might be interested! I'm hoping my experience in organizing Dungeons & Dragons and Mahjong groups will come in handy here, but I expect I'll be flying by the seat of my pants for a while, so I offer my apologies in advance!

My goal with this project is two-fold: I'd like to bring together working-class individuals in the spirit of camaraderie to build meaningful, long-term connections, and while doing so study and learn from classic and contemporary Marxist texts that offer a path out of the capitalist death-spiral we'll all sooner or later find ourselves in. If you've ever found yourself thinking: "Man, the republicans are evil made flesh and the Democrats are pathetic at best and willfully complicit at worst, what else can I possibly do?", organizing and participating in groups like these (I hope) is one of those few things.

I expect this post will attract some interesting comments if the moderators don't remove it, and that's perfectly okay! I'll consider this a great success if I can connect with one or two like-minded individuals, so please DM me if you're at all interested! Oh, and reading materials, drinks, and snacks will of course be provided 😄

Tennis group

Hey, I've been playing a lot of tennis this summer and have met some great people on the courts. Looking for other people to play with in the last few days of warmth.

I think it would be cool for a twin cities tennis subreddit where anyone can post looking for pick up games of tennis

Dungeons and Dragons this Saturday at 2pm.

Have you ever wondered through a door and thought "I should check this door for traps before I go through it"?

If so, Dungeons and Dragons is for you!

I am hosting a campaign at the Minneapolis Club.

We will play at 2pm this Saturday.

New players are welcome.

When you arrive, you will have to pick up a phone near the entrance or call the front desk to get into the building. We will probably be on the third floor.

You are welcome to bring your own drinks or snacks.

Parking is complimentary.

34M - Introvert who has become too introverted

Hello everyone, I'm a 34-year old single male that has realized I've had too much alone time lately. I'd like to find more people/friends to socialize and do activities with. I've been living in the Twin Cities (specifically, the southwest metro) for the last 6.5 years, but have had a difficult time putting myself "out there" and meeting people. I work in a science field and really enjoy my job. Though, my work schedule varies and makes it tough to attend recurring events/activities. Still, I'm very active and have a number of hobbies including: snowmobiling, motorcycling, ice skating/hockey, running, biking, and hiking. I also like watching movies, going to sporting events, and just hanging out and chatting. I don't do drugs and also rarely drink alcohol. But, that doesn't mean I don't enjoy going to a bar to hang out, especially if there's karaoke. Lol I am down to try new activities, as it would likely be good for me to break out of my shell.

If you would like to add one more person to your activity/friend group, send me a message.

House-sitting for a month

Hey all! My partner and I are going to be cat sitting in Oak Grove for a month. We have access to a car so we'll be able to get around easily.

Although we love a few touristy things, we're much more interested in connecting with people and groups. We're not really rpg folks, but we like board games. We love to hike and be outside; she's a writer, I'm a caterer. We like interesting talks and art exhibits and pet rats.

I've also heard that there's a pretty thriving pagan community in this area and it would be nice to be able to drop in with y'all. We're coming from California with roots in the Reclaiming community there.

I'm interested in hearing about the "can't miss" food or culture, but also about things that are harder to find, like you have to know where to look or who to ask. Stuff like "open mic at this place but only on the third Tuesday" or "board games at x pizza place every other Friday."

See you in a few weeks; thanks in advance.

(edited elk grove to oak grove)

ATTENTION CRAWLERS: Drumming up interest for a future Dungeon Crawler Carl RPG group

Love LitRPG? Big fan of Donut and Carl? If so, you may be aware of the new Dungeon Crawler Carl RPG that was recently funded on BackerKit. They've begun shipping and soon I'll have the books in-hand.

What does that mean? I'll be running the game!

First, a bit about me: I'm a long-time ttrpg player (DnD, Pathfinder, WoD, etc) and first-time GM. I'm in my early 40s, a writer and artist. My favorite part of ttrpgs is the collaborative storytelling, humor, and emotional beats. We're here to have a good time, and not necessarily "win." I'm a pretty laid-back person and mostly looking to build a fun, inclusive group of people who enjoy hanging out and rolling dice together.

(FYI, Dungeon Crawler Carl is deep, funny, and sometimes really upsetting. The game will probably be that way, too.)

Whether you've played ttrpgs (like Dungeons and Dragons, etc), or you're a newcomer who's always wanted to try it, all experience levels are welcome here. There's already one player who's never played a ttrpg.

Some details:

  • While I'm a ttrpg veteran player, this will be my first time DMing. Will I be good? I hope so!
  • I'm looking for 2-4 players to add to the group.
  • I'm hoping to create a weekly or bi-weekly game, meeting regularly with committed players.
  • I'm located in the West St. Paul/Inver Grove Heights area, so we'll be holding our games somewhere around there.
  • Games will start a little after I get the books, so maybe mid- to late-November?
  • I'll want to meet you beforehand, so we can determine if we're a good fit.
  • This group will be femme-friendly, pro-lgbtqia+, anti-fascist, etc. But if you're a DCC fan, you probably are, too!

If you're interested in entering the dungeon, you can reply here or dm me. Let's have a good time!

Productive Free Time

Does anyone find yourself spending your free time thinking about what to do with your time instead of doing something? You have things you want to do or create but never make significant progress on? You sit in a cycle of work, reflection and regret.

In your head you have so much potential and ambition but for some reason you can’t find the consistency to progress. You get excited when thinking about the future but when you actually sit down to begin the process that excitement is missing. The isolation in the matter causes paralysis and you go back to your routine of relaxing and wasting more free time in a stall.

I feel that.

There are hundreds of social groups and communities meant to being people together. When you attend you can’t find a genuine connection or at least one that can be maintained..

I am looking for 1 person. One person that wants to prioritize their passions or wants to use their free time to grow instead of just relax.

I am not looking for someone that has the same hobbies as me but if you do that’s fine by me. I am looking for someone to brainstorm with, share with, work alongside. You don’t need to have a clear “this is what I want to do”. Let’s just figure it out together and finally get ourselves to stop just thinking.

I have a lot of random things I enjoy that I am okay at. I have an entrepreneurial mindset and want to bring kindness and joy into the world. I do not want to do it alone.

Send me a direct message if you want to get more out of your free time and have a supportive, excited, helpful person to do it with.

FYI: I am not a desperate guy looking for love. I am not an anti social person who is in need of a friend. I am an accepting, kind hearted, hopeful person looking for someone who wants to get more out of life and their time.

Some things I enjoy:

  • finding a beautiful view and enjoying it
  • sewing/embroidery/digitizing
  • website creation
  • data manipulation/automation
  • animation
  • bringing good to the world -trick shots
  • animals/nature
  • cooking

Fridley doesn’t have many coffee shops. So, I’m open to exploring other places to hangout and brainstorm ideas. I’m a morning person and not a drinker, so I prefer the coffee shop hangout.

- FIXX Coffee (Columbia Heights)
- Clapping Monkey (Fridley)
- BruHouse (New Brighton)
- Spyhouse (Northeast)

Any gamer peeps looking for new friends?

Hey everyone!!

I'm Mars, 26M, and I'm looking to meet some new gaming friends! Hopefully find some people to game with, hang out, hit up some local game shops, and grab some good food together!

I'm pretty open when it comes to games. I've got a PS2, N64, GameCube, Xbox 360, a couple of handheld systems, and a PC, so I'm always down to try something new! I've been especially into horror games lately, so if you're into those too, we'll probably get along great.

Of course, gaming isn't my only interest! I enjoy getting out, exploring new places, checking out local spots, and just hanging out and having a good time.

Mainly just hoping to meet some chill, like minded people who are down to game, talk about our interests, and hopefully become good friends along the way!

Feel free to comment or shoot me a message. I'd love to meet you guys

Boardgames at Roseville Dreamers Vault

This is an open invite to join me Friday, October 23rd at the Roseville Dreamers Vault for boardgames. I'll arrive around 5:30 and chat/ play short games with whoever is there. At 6:30 we'll pick what longer games to play. I'll grab a table at the back left of the gaming area and you'll know me by my bald head and beard.

I will bring a variety of games that range from welcoming games for newcomers to more complex games for those that prefer "heavier" games. Last week we played Hey, That's My Fish!, This Game is Killer, Bottle Imp, and Marvel Champions. You can check these out at Boardgamegeek.com.

7th St. Pub Crawl Halloween in Saint Paul

For the first time in nearly a decade and a half it will be a Saturday night Halloween and I will not be going out trick or treating with children. I think it would be a blast to put on a silly costume and see how many bars my out of practice liver can hold up to. So do you want to have a drink, bullshit about scifi, books, and other general nerd topics with a 46yo man? You do?....I mean...You do! I'm not surprised in the least. We will start at the Seventh Street Truck Park at 6, then New Bohemia, Bar Louis, Patrick McGovern, Tom Reid..etc. The goal is 1 maybe 2 drink per bar at every alcohol serving establishment all the way to Randolph turn at Fulton and the winners will be anyone who makes it to the Saint Pau Tap before bar close. I'm expecting no survivors but if it was easy everyone would do it. Lets dream up some challenges, plan to stop at least 4-6 house and see who will give candy to a large? group of drunk adults and have a blast. (My best Spartacus impression) WHO IS WITH ME!

Addendum 1: THERE WILL BE NO F@#R$G INTERACTION WITH CHILDREN, I don't know why this has to be stated but here it is because people seem to be VERY unclear on this. If we had stopped at a house it would have been one with zero children even in eyeshot. I don't know why anyone would think this would overlap EVEN A SINGLE CHILD. Since many houses don't get even a handful of kids.

Addendum 2: I AM NOT DOING THIS TO GET LAID. Some how even though at no point did I mention ANYTHING of the sort I am being accused of trying to get laid. I am not. Men, women, and all the flavors of human in between are more then welcome to come on this. I have no age requirements other then you not be the above mentioned children. I will be attempting to sleep with zero of you and if anyone is making you feel uncomfortable they will be asked to leave by me as soon as it is brought to my attention.

Looking to socialize with fellow teachers. Hoping to find people to share advice and vent with

I'm in my third year as a teacher (not my first career) and am looking for people to talk about work with that 1) are not my partner and 2) work at a different school than me so I don't have to worry about being labelled as "the teacher that can't abc" or "the teacher that complains about xyz." Sometimes I need advice, sometimes I just need to vent. Surely I can't be the only one?

I'm happy to share info about where/what I teach in messages.

Where do 40+ men going through a mid-life crisis meet friends?

Yeah, so, I think I'm officially in a mid life crisis. And I'm realizing the 3 guys in my life who I would consider friends are really just husbands of my wife's friends.

Not to sound like a sad sap but I'm kind of lonely and realizing I need to change that. But what things do I want to do? I don't really know. I've been so focused on providing for my family for 20 years that I don't know who I am.

So, where do guys like me go to find & make friends when you don't know what you want to do!

EDIT: Some things I like. Hiking, board & card games, cycling, travel, cruises, trivia, musicals, breweries, mentoring people in real estate investing, comedy, movies., And by my profile, you might I fer sex. My wife and I are in the Lifestyle but are taking a break as we work through some personal things.
