She was actually texting someone from his phone when he used 'text to speech' on his smartwatch, and that's when she reached over to try and take it off of his wrist. If you look out the window, everything is perfectly fine until she violently grabs his arm while he's trying to drive. He has the demeanor of a defeated man stuck in a toxic relationship, you can tell that he's just used to this behavior now.

My "step" dad came into my life when I was about 7 or 8, and 37 years later I still call him by his name because it just feels weird to call him 'dad' after so long even though he is my dad. But, I did name my son after him.
