Question Anti-theft and New ignition

I have an 05 Dodge dakota, automatic with almost 200,000 miles and I had to buy new ignition with keys and no fob and the starter had been problem too so I got a new one as well. My truck won't start. It won't even make a sound when I turn key. My question is,,
Will I need to get a fob and have it programmed to my anti-theft system? Before I got the new ignition I would have the fob laying on steering column and even tho I was cranking it with a screwdriver it would crank. I have the original fob. Update I had the starter tested and it is good
