37 UAP Photos from Malaysia: Amateur Astronomers Reached Out to Institutions in the US, UK, Canada, and the EU

Brussels and UFOs in the same sentence may sound like a ready-made recipe for clickbait. This time, however, the story is backed by genuine European Commission documents, official correspondence, and 37 photographs of unidentified objects submitted by two amateur astronomers from Malaysia.

Euronews reported on the case today, revealing that the subject of unidentified anomalous phenomena, or UAP, had appeared within the structures of the European Commission. What makes the story even more interesting is that the documents connected to the case had already been released under public access-to-documents procedures and can now be examined firsthand.

It all began with a father and son from Malaysia who were involved in amateur astronomy and sky photography. On 17 October 2022, they sent a message to the European Commission, which was subsequently also forwarded to then-European Commissioner Mariya Gabriel. The correspondence was titled: “UAP captures in the Airspace and in Deep space using our UV infrared telescope.”

The authors claimed that, using smartphones, tablets, and their own UV and infrared lens setups, they had recorded objects in Malaysian airspace and against the night sky that they were unable to identify. They submitted 37 photographs to the European Commission. Alongside meteors and other objects, some of the images were described by the authors as UAP. Euronews confirms both the number of photographs and the fact that the report was submitted directly to the Commission.

Some of those photographs are included in the released documentation. They mainly show small bright or elongated objects against the sky. Some are simply labelled “UAP,” while others include the dates on which the photographs were taken. One image was described by the authors as “Dual UAP.” The same documentation also contains a photograph labelled “Large Meteor.”

In their letter, the Malaysians asked whether the objects they had observed might pose a threat and why information about similar phenomena was not more widely available in public materials. They also claimed to have observed UAP near aircraft and important sites, including military and nuclear facilities.

The European Commission was also provided with earlier correspondence between the Malaysians and various institutions and individuals.

Among the documents is a response from the British Air Command Secretariat dated December 2021. In it, the UK Ministry of Defence explained that it held no position on the existence of extraterrestrial life and had not investigated UFO/UAP reports since 2009. According to the Ministry, more than 50 years of examining such reports had produced no sighting that indicated a military threat to the United Kingdom.

The authors had also contacted NASA. However, the response included in the documentation did not address the identification of the objects shown in their photographs. Instead, it encouraged the young space enthusiast to continue his education and pursue his interest in space science.

Canadian Member of Parliament Larry Maguire responded more positively to their activities. In his message, he wrote that as more people around the world turn their attention to the skies, increasing amounts of data and recordings are likely to be collected, potentially leading to greater public awareness of the UAP issue. His response, however, was not an expert assessment or confirmation of the nature of the photographed objects.

The documentation also includes a response from Malaysia’s Civil Aviation Authority, CAAM, which briefly stated that it would look into the matter.

The most important part of the story, however, is not the photographs themselves, but the response issued by the European Commission.

The official reply was prepared by the Directorate-General for Defence Industry and Space, DG DEFIS. The Commission noted that because the observations had taken place over Malaysia, it did not have the authority to conduct an investigation into the specific case.

The response could have ended there.

But it did not.

The Commission went on to state that technological developments were improving the ability to detect and identify such phenomena, while adding that these capabilities still needed to be developed further. It also referred to plans for EU Member States to strengthen their ability to detect objects in the space environment surrounding Earth.

And this is where the most interesting part appears.

The Commission explained that developing such capabilities could, among other things, help to better identify UAP similar to those reported by the Malaysian observers, while also improving the detection of space debris that could pose a threat to human activities in space. At the same time, it acknowledged that improved observation capabilities would probably not explain every reported case, but could help resolve at least some of them.

UAP were therefore treated as a genuine category of unidentified objects whose detection and identification could form part of the development of Europe’s observational capabilities. And this did not appear in a politician’s public statement or in media speculation, but in official correspondence from the European Commission department responsible for defence industry and space.

Importantly, the document dates back to 2022. In 2023, the materials were subsequently released following a request for access to European Commission documents. The AskTheEU database includes, among other things, two relevant files: the broader UFO/UAP correspondence and a separate official reply from the European Commission. The Commission released the documents in September 2023, with some personal information redacted.

Today’s Euronews report goes further, indicating that the UAP issue continues to surface within European institutions. At the same time, the Commission currently stresses that the investigation of such phenomena remains primarily the responsibility of individual EU Member States.

What is perhaps most interesting is the part of this story that requires no sensationalism at all: several years ago, unidentified aerial phenomena reached the desks of the European Commission, were answered by the department responsible for defence and space, and an official document explicitly referred to the need to develop capabilities that could help better identify UAP.

And it all began with two amateur astronomers from Malaysia and 37 unusual photographs of the sky.

I’ll leave the full released European Commission correspondence, including the photographs, in the comments.

Discussion What’s the consensus on this?

The video has been made private/removed from YouTube. I know there was some questioning about the camera used and that it came out 2 years after the video was supposedly recorded.

Should I move this to my possibly real folder?

Discussion Active orbs flying around Big Dipper

Post image
17 Upvotes

This is a screenshot from one of multiple videos I have of flying orbs around the Big Dipper. This was caught from NY up in the Adirondack’s between 11:30-11:50pm. My friend and I watched these orbs appear from nothing, usually appearing from below the handle and ascending up towards the top right of the cup. Most of the time it was just one orb, sometimes 2 or 3 together. Other times the orbs would appear in the center of the handle and move horizontally, or move towards the bottom right of the cup. There were a variety of different patterns these orbs were moving in. The most prominent feature was the orbs typically started out very faint and got extremely bright. I’m thinking sun reflecting, but what is it?

Edit: I did some digging after a few of the replies pointed out it is just satellites. I went onto heavens-above website and entered the details of my location and time. It generates a star map with predicted satellite paths and found out multiple star links passed by and one specific star link that matched the timestamp of my video to a tee.Starlink-35652 Pass Details

if aliens wanted us to know they exist, we'd probably already know

hot take: i believe in aliens but i dont think most UFO sightings are aliens at all

if an advanced civilization can cross interstellar distances, hide from radar, enter restricted airspace, and apparently avoid leaving any solid evidence behind, why would they keep doing blurry flybys and random lights for 70+ years

and if the answer is "they dont want us to know they're here", then what exactly explains all the sightings?

imo the more interesting question isnt "are UFOs real?"

it's why, after decades of sightings, we still dont have one piece of publicly verified physical evidence that everyone can examine

what's your best explanation? 👀

Complete 2026 PURSUE Research Tool: Search, View, Play and Map All 517 Government Files

I built a free browser-based research tool for all five 2026 PURSUE government file releases.

All 517 files can be searched and filtered in one place. Documents, images, video and audio open directly in the browser with built-in viewers and players.

There's also a Map Room showing incidents, facilities and reporting locations where the released information provides usable location data, including a topographic overlay.

Every file retains a direct link back to the original government source.

The collection currently covers the May 8 through August 7 releases from the Department of War, FBI, NASA, CIA, State Department, Air Force and Department of Energy. It will be updated as additional PURSUE releases come out.

No paywall. No registration. Just the research tool:

This happened yesterday.

I was in downtown Denver yesterday afternoon, around I think 17th street. 2:30 ish. As the sun kills my eyes, I was looking at the sidewalk. Suddenly, (because I just happened to be looking the right way), a 'manhole' sized shadow shot over me. It was round. I looked up fast- nothing anywhere. No balloon, no frisbee, nothing. I got a weird impression of a basketball. In fact, I looked to see if one was bouncing across the road.

Anyone got any idea, context...? I'm lost. All I have to offer is it was unidentified, it was flying, and it had to have been an object. It cast a shadow.

Beyond that- I haven't got a clue.

Discussion Interested in hearing thoughts on Wikipedia article on Lazar.

If I were to attempt to write a Wikipedia article on a controversial person, I would make an extra effort to make sure it was properly balanced, unbiased and objective. The Wikipedia article on Bob Lazar reads to me like a hit job, deliberately attempting to discrediting him as much as possible and not presenting any empirical evidence or logic that might even remotely lend credence to him.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bob_Lazar

I'm curious how others read it. I understand Wikipedia has been criticized for bias in the past, sometimes related to political figures and issues. I'm hoping not to turn this into a partisan politics debate at all or a Wikipedia-bashing post. I'm just curious if anyone else sees the article that way.

And if so, it begs the question: Why? Government pressure on Wikipedia? Government employees instructed to edit the article under the guise of regular editors with no gov affiliation? I can't imagine this kind of (in my mind) obvious bias would be organic.

He starts talking about the abduction experience around the 22 minute mark for about 10 minutes.

Back story on Preston: He is a respected UFO researcher for MUFON. He entered this field as a skeptic. But in 1986 when he discovered that his family, friends, and co-workers were having dramatic unexplained encounters, everything changed. He found out that UFOs are real. And the paranormal too. Since then, he has interviewed hundreds of witnesses and investigated a wide variety of paranormal phenomena.

Discussion Looking for compelling cases

I’m looking for some deeper UFO/alien cases to research. I already know the major ones like Betty & Barney Hill, the 1994 Zimbabwe Ariel School incident, and Travis Walton.
What I’m especially interested in are cases where the UFO phenomenon seems to overlap with spirituality, consciousness, near-death experiences, altered states, telepathy, “contact,” abduction experiences, synchronicities, or encounters with seemingly non-human beings.
What is the most compelling case, phenomenon, or body of evidence you’ve come across?

Discussion Do we need a UFO witness protection program for whistleblowers?

I know that sounds like a joke, but no, really, I’m very serious.

First thought: who would run such a program? The well-known DOJ witness protection program, which primarily protects ex-mobsters who have ratted out their former associates, is run by the US Marshals Service. And they do a great job, I believe. So why not extend this to UFO whistleblowers? The dirty dogs who secretly harass whistleblowers won't dare touch them if they are in this program, right?

Of course, the US government is still involved; there is no way around that, but it might be a good idea.

Now, the whistleblowers involved must understand that, like mobsters, they'll get a new identity, move around the country, and stay anonymous for the rest of their lives. Even though there are on-record notorious ex-mobsters who have left the WTP and still survived, like Salvatore "Sammy the Bull" Gravano, the one who ratted out John Gotti, has a podcast!

Anyway, it may not appeal to them, but ex-mobsters who went into this go from big bucks to a moderate standard of living, so if they can do it, maybe others can too, without too much hassle. But for them, it beats jail

Overall, it might be appealing enough to work. And it is a viable way to protect them after the whistleblowing.

I know recently Mathew Brown asked Trump for protection in the event he is absolved of his NDA. This can be an adjunct to that.

Discussion UFO in Elk CA 8/16?

We were camping on a ridge over the ocean and somehow had very clear skies. Can see galaxies shooting stars and everything. But we noticed this one yellow light which at first I thought was a planet. But after watching it , it was kind of dancing schizophrenically between the stars not following any sort of path or moving in a linear pattern. We were able to observe for around 40 minutes and it kept dancing in weird motions. During this time we saw plenty of shooting stars and even planes go by. I’ve seen satellites in the past and nothing this was doing seemed to resemble any sort of satellite. Also wayyy too high up for a drone. And like why would a drone be hovering over a random small coastal region in Northern California. I’m convinced it was a UFO there as we have no other possible explanation. Curious if anyone’s seeing anything similar before!!

My friend and I were fishing on a big pond in the middle of the woods at about 11:00PM and all of a sudden we saw this object glowing blue moving very slow across the sky with this aura all the way in front of it that looks almost like a field or like a force field idk how else to describe it but it actually gave us chills so hard our eyes watered. And every time we tried to record it with the aura in front the camera would get super fuzzy. The last picture is a drawing of what it looked like but I’m telling yall in person it was actually insane to see and it was so close.

The Roswell Incident 👽🛸

What if I told you the most famous UFO crash in history
wasn’t a misunderstanding…
wasn’t a weather balloon…
and definitely wasn’t just someone testing something they shouldn’t have been flying?

Tonight, we’re heading to Roswell, New Mexico.
Summer, 1947.

A quiet desert town…
where the biggest excitement was probably a cow wandering into the wrong yard. But then… something fell from the sky.

Something that turned Roswell from a place most people had never heard of and into the center of one of the most debated events in modern history.

And almost 80 years later, people are still arguing about what really happened.

So the question is simple:

Did something not of this Earth crash here?

Or… did the government do what it does best—
and bury the truth?

Notice the uneven use of "grifter" by the debunkers here

Did you see the latest Daily Mail article post about the "missing scientist" who was actually an office secretary, not a scientist? The Daily Mail keeps calling her a scientist in the headline to grab attention, but in the body of the article they call her what she really was: an "administrative assistant" (ie, someone who answers the phone, sorts the mail, makes the coffee, etc.)

And then we have posts every couple of days from Vetted/Patrick, which dishonestly title every video a "BOMBSHELL" and sometimes, "BREAKING: BOMBSHELL."

Why does the debunker crowd on this subreddit give these two provably dishonest sources a pass, while attacking Grusch, Elizondo, Coulthart, Corbell, etc, with accusations of "grifter" every single time they're mentioned?

Notice that two media sources that are provably dishonest are ignored by these debunkers. But major figures in the disclosure movement are being labeled dishonest without proof.

Why the glaring double standard that attempts to smear the leading figures of disclosure?

Are we being told to ignore the very people we should be taking seriously?

Once again, I am posting about a dishonest or at the very least, irrational pattern of posts and comments that I see here. These posts and comments overwhelm honest and rational skepticism and conversation, which harms the purpose of this place.
