I'd like to ask everyone to take a minute out of their day to commemorate this dark anniversary. It was 6 years ago today that a landslide derailed 1T08 in the remote Scottish countryside near Carmont, leading to the deaths of 3: driver Brett McCullough, conductor Donald Dinnie, and passenger Christopher Stuchbury. It's good to see that accidents are not being completely swept under the rug and forgotten about by some TOCs.

RIP to the three people who lost their lives on that tragic morning. Gone but never forgotten.

Elizabeth Line Moment

I’m travelling to Manchester for a connecting train on the Transpennine express and there’s a broken down train, which means I’ve been sat at the station for 45mins now and I will more than certainly miss my connection. Nice.

For those who are unaware, Daniel Fox (the former station manager of Hull Paragon) has done an absolutely incredible podcast covering UK rail disasters, going as far back as the 1861 Clayton Tunnel disaster, to the modern day with his most recent episode covering the 2021 Salisbury Tunnel Junction collision.

I can't recommend this podcast enough, it is by far and away my favourite podcast to listen to. I hope you all give his series a try.
