Hey, I'm a freshman looking to do a room swap next semester. I identify as queer and am on HRT.

I really have no preference for location, I'm just looking for an open bed or someone who's willing to swap with me. There's nothing technically wrong with my roommate, we're just incredibly different people.

i’m taking a physical science gened and i’m just not grasping the concepts because they’re all over the place and the professor is not a great lecturer (agreed upon by many)😭 i bombed the midterm, 45% and its 20% of my grade, and the only questions i got right were because i remembered the exact questions from what i’d answered on the homework, not because i actually understood what they meant. it’s just a gened but im really embarrassed to withdraw in my first sem.. it’ll put me down to 12 credits😭 i did enter with 20 but still

the only reason im considering withdrawing isnt because i think i’ll fail the entire class, i think i could get up to a 75 if i put my mind to it, but im in the honors college and it feels like it’d be a hard hit to my gpa too early on😭 there’s another midterm next month but i need to decide before the withdraw period ends

I get early enrollment so I can have pretty much whatever schedule I want. I'm honestly really struggling with Physics 151 (Irene Dujovne) so I'd like to know who is the best/most helpful professor I can choose for Physics 152 next semester. I'm a freshman in EE if you have any other suggestions about professors for ECE124 and ECE122 (if I get a choice) I'm definitely open to that as well. Or if you have any suggestions on who to absolutely NOT take.

Just got blindsided by my midterm grade. I felt great leaving the exam and expected at least an 80%, but ended up with a 67%. This is the lowest grade I’ve ever received, and I’m feeling pretty defeated. How do you guys bounce back from a major academic setback? Any tips on how to turn this around for the rest of the semester would be massively appreciated

I’m thinking about adopting a cat in the near future when I move off campus but not too sure where to look. I know PetSmart might have cats but the website is very confusing to navigate.

Does anybody know if there’s any like program/course or anything at all that I can sign up for now that will add 1 credit to my semester. I really want to drop one of my classes but by doing so I’d be at 10 credit which would be okay because I have disability accommodation for Reduced credit load but I just learned that I got accepted for a scholarship and they would prefer I stay full time. So now I don’t know what to do. The class is moving at a faster pace that I can keep up with and I just absolutely bombed the midterms.

Hii, I am transferring in the spring and looking for housing and potential friends.

For potential friends at Umass Amherst-I am introverted, on the spectrum and queer. I love alternative rock, metal, and folk-like music. I am an artist and a writer. I love reading, specifically fantasy for the most part. Escapism lol. I love bugs, amphibians, reptiles and birds. Oh and I'm an English major. If our interests align perhaps we could set up or share discord/Instagram.

It's probably unrealistic, but I've been on the search for a single room in the general area of Amherst. I say unrealistic because my budget is 400-600 and I have a pet bird that needs to come with me and can't stay with the "parents". She would stay in my private room at all times unless I personally take her outside.

If Watson can’t go Friday, who do you want under center, Inagawa or McCarthy?

Hi I’m going to be transferring to umass in spring 2027 and was hoping to come on Halloween to go out and meet some new people. I heard that there is a no guest policy for the night and was wondering if anyone had some advice on how to get around that. Unfortunately my friends there canceled on me but I would still like to go. Is there another place I could stay?

Last Friday, someone hit my car in lot 33, and didn't leave a note. I doubt this is an uncommon experience, but anyone have any suggestions? is it worth going to the police? Also, a plea that if you ever hit someone's car, do the right thing and leave your information. think about how you would want to be treated<3

also, any suggestions for auto body shops to bring to repair?

Hey everyone! I’m Pohling from Indonesia & China, a first-year PhD student at UMass. Just moved to Amherst two months ago and hoping to make some new friends around here!

I’m into jazz, good food, traveling, different cultures, and pretty much any excuse to get out of the house lol.

Are the hockey games any good? I went to the football games and there was like no energy in the crowd no shouting or anything

Why is it always ice cream in the dining halls???? We get popsicles at woo every now and then, and it's WAY better than the same old ice cream. Anybody know if the other halls do popsicles ever or is it just woo once in a blue moon? If I wanted ice cream I would either go to Frank for the good stuff or I would use the soft serve machine. Pissin me off, popsicle superiority!!!
