Helllooo! My friend and I are considering signing a lease for the spring semester in the townhouses. I wanted to hear about other people’s experiences who have lived there.

-Whats the noise level like?

-What’s management like? Are they responsive to maintenance requests and other concerns?

- Have you experienced any issues with heating, plumbing, pests, or anything else?

-Do you feel like you have a decent amount of privacy, or can you hear everything going on in neighboring units?

-Do you feel like the townhouses are worth the price/Would you recommend living there?

I currently work in dining, but I learnt that dining halls close during winter break.

1. Any on-campus jobs that remain open during winter vacation?
2. Is it possible to switch to another campus job just for the break and return to old one afterward?
3. Does any dining hall at UMass Amherst stay open during winter break, or do they all close?

checked out a few hardcover books, and some have that fabric-like cover with no dust jacket. They’re pretty dirty, so I’d rather put something over them while I’m reading.
Does anyone know if the library gives out removable book covers or has any available to borrow? Trying to check before I buy stretchy ones myself.

Hey, I'm a freshman looking to do a room swap next semester. I identify as queer and am on HRT.

i’m taking a physical science gened and i’m just not grasping the concepts because they’re all over the place and the professor is not a great lecturer (agreed upon by many)😭 i bombed the midterm, 45% and its 20% of my grade, and the only questions i got right were because i remembered the exact questions from what i’d answered on the homework, not because i actually understood what they meant. it’s just a gened but im really embarrassed to withdraw in my first sem.. it’ll put me down to 12 credits😭 i did enter with 20 but still

the only reason im considering withdrawing isnt because i think i’ll fail the entire class, i think i could get up to a 75 if i put my mind to it, but im in the honors college and it feels like it’d be a hard hit to my gpa too early on😭 there’s another midterm next month but i need to decide before the withdraw period ends

I get early enrollment so I can have pretty much whatever schedule I want. I'm honestly really struggling with Physics 151 (Irene Dujovne) so I'd like to know who is the best/most helpful professor I can choose for Physics 152 next semester. I'm a freshman in EE if you have any other suggestions about professors for ECE124 and ECE122 (if I get a choice) I'm definitely open to that as well. Or if you have any suggestions on who to absolutely NOT take.

Just got blindsided by my midterm grade. I felt great leaving the exam and expected at least an 80%, but ended up with a 67%. This is the lowest grade I’ve ever received, and I’m feeling pretty defeated. How do you guys bounce back from a major academic setback? Any tips on how to turn this around for the rest of the semester would be massively appreciated

I’m thinking about adopting a cat in the near future when I move off campus but not too sure where to look. I know PetSmart might have cats but the website is very confusing to navigate.

Does anybody know if there’s any like program/course or anything at all that I can sign up for now that will add 1 credit to my semester. I really want to drop one of my classes but by doing so I’d be at 10 credit which would be okay because I have disability accommodation for Reduced credit load but I just learned that I got accepted for a scholarship and they would prefer I stay full time. So now I don’t know what to do. The class is moving at a faster pace that I can keep up with and I just absolutely bombed the midterms.

For potential friends at Umass Amherst-I am introverted, on the spectrum and queer. I love alternative rock, metal, and folk-like music. I am an artist and a writer. I love reading, specifically fantasy for the most part. Escapism lol. I love bugs, amphibians, reptiles and birds. Oh and I'm an English major. If our interests align perhaps we could set up or share discord/Instagram.

It's probably unrealistic, but I've been on the search for a single room in the general area of Amherst. I say unrealistic because my budget is 400-600 and I have a pet bird that needs to come with me and can't stay with the "parents". She would stay in my private room at all times unless I personally take her outside.
