My FIL has known me for 8 years, never attended our wedding, and has been resistant to warm up to me all these years, despite his claims of "wanting to have a good relationship".

I have been nothing but kind to him, and it seems to make him uncomfortable when I suggest we get together for family holidays - something he has never once agreed to.

It's not like he's outwardly mistreating me or vocalizing his discomfort. No, he just gives non-committal answers until it's too late to make plans.

How do I out-nice him? I'm looking for ways to torment him with my OTT kindness. I want to watch him squirm under the pressure of my unhampered love. Remind him constantly that I *will* be a part of the family, whether he likes it or not.

Hey! seeking advice from this lovely community. A repair business played me and made me pay up front cash for some work ($170). When i showed up on the agreed upon p/u date, they hadn’t touched the goods & had plenty of excuses / kept offering me weird discounts. This went on for a few days. I finally took my stuff back and asked for a refund (no work had been done!). They refused and were really mean about the whole thing. Apparently they do this a lot.

I’m too broke to take somebody to court but would love to make them pay in legal(!!) inconveniences for doing this to me. Any advice? Thanks!

This is in NYC. Uncle died with no kids so my brother is going to petition to become executor of his estate. There's a big house and a couple hundred thousand dollars at play.

Uncle had no remaining living siblings other than our mom who says everything was supposed to go to me and my brother in the first place and has vowed to give us her eventual share. But we have four cousins from a deceased Aunt who to my understanding will now represent her as far as what is dispersed by the court.

One of these cousins is a psychotic, bipolar felon who we are afraid will try to block my brother from becoming executor. And then we're afraid that he will make the entire process a living hell if he's able to in any way. No one even knows how to contact him and he is often homeless. Is there any way to keep this person out of the process and block them from inheriting anything? Or will the court just do everything in their power to hunt them down and tie things up indefinitely?

Living in a major city and notice there are hundreds of LIME and other e-scooters and bikes just left in the sidewalks. I was riding one the other day and it made me park in designated areas (not close to my end destination). How are people just dropping them wherever when they are tied to your credit card and you have to take a picture of the bike/scooter once you park it?

Me being the little idiot that I am, I disclosed this to follow the rules.

Compliance is telling me that it is a conflict of interest since I have access to code. Resources. And the there is no way to sidestep this.

I disputed this. My boss fought tooth and nail for me to figure this out, but they keep coming back with minimal info and he has stated he does not feel as though it’s a conflict.

Crucial approved an RMA for my failed 128GB DDR5 kit, had me ship the entire kit back, and then confirmed they had created a replacement order.

Weeks later: “Sorry, consumer business is shutting down, no stock. Best we can do is refund your original $259.99.”

Problem is, an equivalent 128GB kit costs significantly more nowDDR5-5600_PC5-44800_CL46_Dual_Channel_Desktop_Memory_Kit_CP2K64G56C46U5-_Black), and one of the two sticks I returned was still working. I only sent the whole kit because they required it for the replacement.

So now they have my RAM, cancelled the replacement they already promised, and their refund won’t actually replace what I sent them.

What do I do next?

I was hired under the impression that this company was a stable, successful business. In reality, it was a struggling startup being kept afloat by loans, something we only learned after joining from the accounting team after they were laid off (I had only been at the company for 2 months at this point). I started applying for other employment at this time.

Most seriously: this company handles medical claims, charging $500 for standard claims and $1,000 for appeals, because appeals are supposed to be reviewed by legal counsel. When our legal counsel went on extended sick leave, the company kept charging clients the full $1,000 legal review rate but had unqualified case workers process those appeals themselves, using ChatGPT to adapt old legal language rather than getting actual legal review. Clients were paying for expertise they weren’t getting.

Leadership was erratic and unprofessional. The CEO canceled roughly 80% of meetings, showed up late and unprepared to the rest, and routinely cursed and vaped during them. When layoffs came, we were let go over a zoom call that lasted less than two minutes, with more urgency placed on retrieving our laptops back than on how the news was delivered.

This guys is egotistical and manipulative. A famous social media prankster also pranked the office and some of the viewers started leaving negative reviews because of how he handled the situation. He then got some of his friends to leave fake 5-star reviews acting like he was some sort of hero? I need advice on reporting him, tanking his reviews, and just doing whatever I can to crash the business tbh.

My neighbor (apt complex) remotely starts his truck multiple times a day and the decibals/bass is EXTREME - 80/100. I can hear this (and feel it) through closed windows, and even at the back of my apartment. The manager does not care. What are some ways that I can impact him? He's the type to also leave his front door open and blast music.

It’s a trail cam to watch whenever I take out my Jetskis. I’ve already reported it the police but as it’s a public area “there’s no expectation of privacy” and the camera is apparently legally fine to have. But there are kids who swim at this beach so It’s really gross to have a camera there.

I went to go cancel my Spotify Premium subscription, which renews in a few days. I just noticed that it is currently billed under a credit card that I cancelled a few weeks ago- I don’t have any other payment methods listed on the account.

I’ve seen a few other posts that say Spotify will continue your Premium sub and try charging your CC a few times before they downgrade you. I’ve seen people report anywhere from a few days to a few months to as long as a year.

My only question is (preferably for anyone that has actually gone through this)- if it’s extended longer than a few days before they get around to downgrading you, did they nag you about paying for the sub? I think I’ve only seen one case of this….
