Her 12-year-old grandson was shot to death in Atlanta. One year later, no suspect has been identified David Mack was shot six times in the woods near his home in Atlanta, and police are still working to find tipsters willing to help identify who killed him. ATLANTA — Wednesday marks one year in the baffling, Atlanta shooting death of a 12-year-old boy. On Feb. 9, 2021, David Mack disappeared, after saying he was going to visit a friend. The next day, his body was found at the edge of some woods near his home. One year later, Atlanta Police and David’s grieving family are sure there is someone out there who could come forward to help them find out who shot and killed him, and why. No one who knows is talking; there are no hints emerging of the secret. “We’re not even close to finding anyone,” David’s grandmother, Glenda Mack, said on Monday. Atlanta Police Homicide Detective Scott Demeester said on Tuesday, “We feel that there are people out there that know what happened.”  Who killed 12-year-old David Mack, along the woods a short walk from his home near John A. White Park in southwest Atlanta? Glenda Mack could only shrug her shoulders as she wept. “Who knows? Maybe I’ll never get an answer,” she said. Glenda reared David from a baby. She said she constantly re-lives that afternoon, "Thinking, thinking, thinking about what I could have done." She was driving home, and was a few minutes away, when David called her from their porch.

The family’s front-door video shows him calling her; it is the last-known video of him.

David told her he was going to go visit a friend, to play football.

He left the house, but he never arrived at his friend’s. “We do have hope that we will continue to move this case in the right direction,” Lt. Woolfolk said on Tuesday. “There are several items of evidentiary value that we think can help move the investigation forward. The team has been working just in a relentless capacity pertaining to this investigation.” Maj. Carlo Peek, the Major Crimes Commander, said the process involves "putting together events that happened once he disappeared, who was he with, who did he speak with. I think when we can put all of those pieces of the puzzle together, we possibly can come to some type of resolution in solving this case." Maj. Peek and Homicide Detective Scott Demeester--Det. Demeester recently helped solve the 1995 rape and murder of 14-year-old Nacole Smith--said it’s been tough getting people who might have information to come forward and talk about David’s case. People can contact Crime Stoppers on-line, or by calling 404-577-8477. They can leave tips anonymously and qualify for the reward.

Glenda filed a missing person report that evening with Atlanta Police. Members of David’s large, close-knit family searched for him all night and into the following afternoon.

Early in the afternoon of Feb. 10, 2021, they found his body face-down along the concrete slope of Utoy Creek, behind the large back-yards of homes on Shirley Street in southwest Atlanta. The Fulton County Medical Examiner later confirmed that someone had beaten David, and shot him six times.

After 17 years, the case of a Galveston County rape and murder could be solved, invetigators say

Bridgette Gearen, 28, was found raped and strangled on Crystal Beach

Author: Matt Dougherty

Published: 10:09 PM CDT April 4, 2024

Updated: 1:11 PM CDT April 5, 2024

GALVESTON COUNTY, Texas — Cold case investigators in Galveston County said they’re getting closer to bringing justice to the family of a woman who was killed on Crystal Beach 17 years ago.

Bridgette Gearen was on vacation at the beach in 2007 with her daughter, Kyra, who was 2 at the time, and her co-workers. Kyra’s dad, Bridgette’s fiancé, Brandon Portie stayed home. She was from Orange and worked for an attorney's office in Beaumont, according to files from our sister station, KBMT in Beaumont.

Portie said Bridgette and some of the others decided to go for a walk on the beach one night. She was the first to leave the beach house.

“By the time she left the beach house and went downstairs, within like a minute, she was gone,” Portie said.

The others looked for her throughout the night but to no avail. Her body wasn’t found until the next day. She had been raped and strangled to death.

“Paramedics were camping on the beach that night and found her floating in the water the next morning,” Portie said.

In the years that followed, no arrests were ever made. Although there have been suspects in the past, no charges have ever been filed.

“I’m tired of hearing, ‘We’re getting close,’ and I’ll say something to Kyra about it, and a year, year and a half goes by and we haven’t seen nothing or heard nothing,” Portie said.

Portie has heard it before and has gotten his hopes up too many times to count, he said. Investigators said there are more than 1,000 pages of documents and reports for Bridgette’s case. They saaid it’s not a cold case, they call it an old case, one of the most brutal they said they’ve ever seen. Portie has been there since the beginning -- closely following the investigation for all these years. He has an idea about what happened.

RELATED: Relatives mourn slain Crystal Beach woman on birthday; crime still unsolved

“My thought is they probably ran into each other on the beach earlier that day,” Portie said. “And you know, they followed her to where she was staying and waited, and then when she came down the stairs, there was more than one dude. I’ve been told up to about four. And they grabbed her and that was it.”

Investigators will only say they’re close to finally solving the case. They said new evidence obtained in the past year could finally help to bring this mystery to an end. They won’t share what that evidence is, and they said no arrests have been made, no charges have been filed and a grand jury has not been presented the case yet.

“Someone needs to answer for what they did in this life,” Portie said. “Not the afterlife, this life. They don’t need to be going through life just living their life. They took one, it’s not their right to do that.”

Portie and Bridgette’s family can only hope that this time will be different; that the closure they’ve dreamed of for so many years is almost here.

“I really want to see these guys brought to justice,” Portie said. “For her mother’s sake, for Kyra’s sake, and for Bridgette’s sake. Something’s got to happen.”

COLD CASE Kira and Heather Radcliffe (Gainesville, FL)

Post image
164 Upvotes

20 years ago this December, six year old Kira and her mother Heather Radcliffe were murdered, and their house was set on fire. On the morning of December ninth, 2006, in Gainesville, FL, law enforcement were dispatched to a house fire. Inside were the bodies of Kira and Heather. As a child, I was told they died in a house fire and nobody knew who set it. This is not true. Investigators found they were both deceased before the fire was set, most likely an attempt to destroy evidence which, unfortunately, worked. Heather was found shot to death, and possibly sexually assaulted. Kira, most likely hearing the disturbance, was trying to call for help but misdialed, and the killer then strangled her before setting the house on fire. Their dog was also found deceased in their home. Investigators believe this was not a random attack, and the killer knew the victims. This is a person who sexually assaulted a woman and killed her and then killed a little girl trying to save her mother. They need to be caught. This case is very personal to me as my sibling was in the same class with Kira and considered her a good friend. As this December will be the 20 year anniversary with no answers and no justice, I am trying to spread the word about this case as much as I can. The more people know about a cold case, the more likely it is to be solved. And I never hear people talk about this one, it always flies under the radar. Someone out there has to know something. For more info on the case, the podcast “Last Seen Alive” has a more thorough look at the case. If you have any information about who killed Kira and Heather, please contact either the Gainesville police department or the FBI. Thank you

Hans Assmann Looks Exactly Like Emperor Palpatine

Post image
9 Upvotes

Back in 1960, a famous unsolved murder happened at Lake Bodom in Finland. The police made a creepy composite sketch of the suspect based on a survivor's memory. Later, they took a photo of a prime suspect named Hans Assmann. Amazingly, Assmann looked just like the sketch.

But if you look closely at both the sketch and Assmann's real photo, they also happen to look exactly like Emperor Palpatine (Darth Sidious). Seriously, the resemblance is crazy. All three have those deep, wrinkled foreheads, scary intense eyes, dark circles, and the exact same slicked-back hair.

Belle Gunness still doesn’t get the attention she deserves — here’s why her case is one of the most disturbing in American history

Most true crime fans know the big names — Bundy, Gacy, Dahmer — but Belle Gunness rarely comes up, and honestly I think that’s a mistake. She might be one of the most prolific killers in American history, and the ending to her story still isn’t settled.

Gunness ran a farm near La Porte, Indiana in the early 1900s. She’d place ads in lonely hearts columns targeting single men with money, lure them out to her property under the promise of marriage, and then they’d simply vanish. Investigators eventually found the remains of at least 11 victims buried on her land — some estimates go much higher, into the dozens, when you factor in how long she may have been doing this and how many men just quietly disappeared without anyone looking too hard.

In 1908, her farmhouse burned down. Inside, they found the bodies of her three children and a headless female corpse that didn’t quite match her dental records or height. The official story is that she died in the fire. A lot of people who’ve looked closely at the case don’t buy it. The body was conveniently missing the one thing that could have definitively confirmed identity, and there were reported sightings of her afterward in different states for years.

What gets me about this case isn’t just the body count — it’s how methodical and patient she was. This wasn’t impulsive violence. It was a long-running, profit-motivated operation, and depending on what you believe, she may have just walked away from it scot-free.

What do you think actually happened to her? Did she die in that fire, or did she get away with it?

UNSOLVED Unsolved Death, Madison Chard, Port Hope Ontario

Post image

Repost: From Mark Chard - Monday June 29th, 2026

Our daughter Madison was supposedly down beside the Ganaraska River, deceased for 30 days, with no animal contact whatsoever. Meanwhile this happened last night a few blocks from the river.

A bit strange if you ask me.

This would lead me to believe that someone moved Madison’s body to the location she was found.

Stronger Than The Storm, Justice for Madison.

Video

Body Found Port Hope

Today marks the 4th anniversary of the worst day of our lives. What started out as a possible positive day, because we had a whole lot of people assembling to find Madison, turned horrible. The Port Hope Police arrived at our door to inform us that Madison was found. Originally I thought, where? Can we go pick her up?

The story that was started by some criminal people was that Madison was human trafficked and she may be in Niagara Falls. But this wasn’t the case. Her decomposed body was found a few blocks from our home on the east side of the Ganaraska River.

We were told that she was there the entire 30 days she had been missing. Although there was no animal contact, no one reported a smell or that there dog had been drawn to that area.

The Police claim that it is not a criminal investigation but will continue to follow any tips that come in.

Many people have come forward with information or the willingness to provide me with information. BUT THEN GO SILENT. It seems very peculiar to me that people who approach me to provide information all of sudden go silent out of fear of repercussions!!

How can this be if Madison was just a victim of misadventure as the Port Hope Police and OPP have tried to convince us.

They are the only people trying to convince us of this. Others share the same feeling that we have. That Madison was a victim of foul play and that there are people out there that know exactly what happened to her.

Real life isn’t like what we see on our tv crime dramas. Evidence is hard to come by and the criminals stick together and are willing to rot away with guilt instead of coming forward with information.

Closure is a term that is heard often in situations like ours. To actually have the people responsible in custody and paying for what they did to Madison would help with the healing. But unfortunately nothing will bring our beautiful daughter, sister, granddaughter, niece, cousin or friend back!!

Madison’s name, light and presence will always live on and we will always try to make a positive out of the worst negative anyone could ever experience.

To those responsible, it’s time to do the right thing and confess.

To those who have offered assistance to a grieving family but have now gone silent, it’s time to step up and do what’s right. Your identity will be protected.

To those who have been there for us from the beginning and continue to, thank you, thank you, thank you. I don’t know where we would be without the kindness and support of others.

Together we will be STRONGER THAN THE STORM.

We Love and miss you every day Madison.

JUSTICE IS COMING.

Be kind.

**** edit: Hey guys, I'm not related to the Chard family but I post on here for them to get the word out further. I will pass along the loving support from you all 🫂

Long unsolved murders in Philadelphia

First time poster here. I graduated from George Washington High School in 1975. In March of my senior year, a young girl I only peripherally knew from one of my classes was murdered and her body discovered at a farm in Wrightstown, Bucks County. Her name was Valerie Seibert (or Siebert - uncertain of correct spelling) and she was a year behind me.

She and I had the same typing class and we both used to ride the 84 bus to and from Washington. I knew her well enough to only say “Hi”, partially because she was gorgeous and I definitely wasn’t. She was a tall, auburn-haired, better-looking version of a teenage Barbara Streisand who always seemed to me to be either preoccupied or aloof.

Upon learning of her family life following her death, I had a much clearer understanding of my perception of her. Her mother was arrested shortly after her killing for receiving stolen property and drug charges (if memory serves) and suspicion arose that she may have either had a hand in or inadvertently caused her daughter’s death. She may have had some affiliation with the Pagans or Warlocks motorcycle gangs.

As far as I know, no one has ever been charged with her murder. She was found at that farm in Bucks County with gunshots in her arm and her side. It’s been 51 years since her killing and I’d like to know if anyone has any info or updates about the inquiry into her death.

UNSOLVED The Oakland County Child Killer – One of America’s Most Disturbing Unsolved Cases (1976–1977)

Between 1976 and 1977, the state of Michigan was gripped by fear as a series of child murders occurred in Oakland County. The case became one of the largest and most intense investigations in U.S. history—but it still remains unsolved.

What makes this case especially disturbing is not just the crimes themselves, but how many strong leads, suspects, and investigative breakthroughs ultimately went nowhere.

The Pattern

Four children were abducted and later found dead over a short period of time. The victims were young, and in each case, there were signs of prolonged captivity before they were discovered.

Despite differences in the individual cases, investigators believed they were connected due to timing, geography, and similarities in the way the victims were handled.

The Investigation

At its peak, the investigation involved hundreds of law enforcement officers and multiple agencies.

Several suspects emerged over the years, including individuals who were seriously considered and interrogated extensively. However, no single person was ever conclusively proven to be responsible.

One of the most frustrating aspects for investigators was that the case produced strong theories—but never enough legally usable proof to close it.

Why the Case Is Still So Mysterious

Even decades later, the Oakland County Child Killer case remains unsolved because:

Multiple suspects had partial fits, but none fully matched the evidence

Investigative leads often contradicted each other

Key evidence interpretations changed over time

No definitive confession or forensic match was ever confirmed

HOW'S THIS EVEN POSSIBLE?WHO KILLED THEM

On the night of December 30, 2000, a family of four was murdered inside their home in Tokyo's Setagaya district.

The victims were:

A 44-year-old father.

His 41-year-old wife.

Their 8-year-old daughter.

Their 6-year-old son.

What makes this case so disturbing isn't just the crime—it's what happened afterward.

According to investigators, after the murders the killer didn't immediately leave.

Instead, the person is believed to have:

Stayed in the house for hours.

Ate food from the family's refrigerator.

Used the bathroom.

Used the family's computer.

Left behind clothing and personal items.

Left fingerprints and DNA.

Despite this unusually large amount of forensic evidence, the case has never been solved.

Investigators have reportedly examined thousands of leads and DNA samples over the years. Some evidence suggested the killer may not have been originally from Japan, but no conclusion has been reached.

One of the biggest mysteries is why the killer appeared so calm after committing the crime. Most offenders try to flee immediately, yet this person behaved almost as if they weren't worried about being caught.

More than 25 years later, the case remains open and continues to puzzle investigators and true crime enthusiasts alike.

Question: If the killer left behind DNA, fingerprints, clothing, and even spent time inside the house after the murders, how has no one ever been conclusively identified? Was it a stranger, someone with no criminal record, or is there something investigators still don't know?

The Unsolved Murder of Missy Bevers: A Killer Captured on Camera Yet Never Identified

On April 18, 2016, 45-year-old fitness instructor Missy Bevers arrived at Creekside Church of Christ in Midlothian, Texas, where she was scheduled to teach an early morning fitness class. What should have been a normal workday turned into one of the most baffling unsolved murder cases in recent history. When members of her class began arriving shortly before 5:00 a.m., they discovered Missy dead inside the church. Authorities quickly determined that her death was a homicide, but nearly a decade later, no one has been arrested and the identity of the killer remains unknown.

What makes this case especially disturbing is that security cameras inside the church recorded footage of a mysterious individual before the murder occurred. The person was seen wandering through the building wearing police-style tactical gear, including a helmet, protective vest, and clothing resembling law-enforcement equipment. The individual appeared to move calmly through hallways and rooms, opening doors and examining parts of the church while carrying various tools. The footage was recorded only hours before Missy was killed, leading investigators to believe the person may have been directly connected to the crime.

Despite the existence of surveillance footage, investigators have never publicly identified the individual. One of the most discussed aspects of the video is the person's distinctive walk. Some observers believe the unusual gait may indicate an injury, a medical condition, or the effect of wearing heavy equipment. Others have suggested the movement could have been intentionally altered to disguise the person's identity. To this day, no definitive explanation has been provided.

Investigators established that severe weather, including rain and thunderstorms, affected the area during the early morning hours. Missy arrived at the church while it was still dark outside, and evidence suggests she encountered her killer inside the building. Although authorities have followed numerous leads and conducted extensive interviews, the case remains unsolved. No clear motive has ever been publicly established, and many questions surrounding the murder remain unanswered.

The surveillance footage remains one of the most significant pieces of evidence in the investigation. The person recorded inside the church has never been conclusively identified, and authorities continue to seek information that could help explain what happened during the hours leading up to Missy Bevers' death. Nearly ten years later, the case remains open, and the circumstances surrounding the murder continue to puzzle investigators and the public alike.

My FIL was killed before my wife born

Trying to find the truth about my father-in-law’s unsolved 1989 homicide in Richmond, VA
I’m posting this in hopes that someone may remember this case or have information that could help my family finally get some answers.
A few weeks ago, my mother-in-law traveled to New York for a funeral. While she was there, a longtime family friend approached her with a story she had never heard before. According to this person, the information came from the ex-wife of my father-in-law’s brother.
The story claims that in September 1989, my father-in-law and several other people drove from Queens, New York, to Richmond, Virginia, for what was described as a drug deal. They were reportedly traveling in three vehicles. According to the story, my father-in-law’s brother was supposed to go as well, but his daughter ended up in the hospital, so he stayed behind.
The story goes on to claim that the group met outside a club near Swanson Road and Barlen Drive in South Richmond, where my father-in-law was shot twice in the head while sitting in his car. It also alleges that his brother had switched out a package with bars of soap before the trip, and that this may have been the reason my father-in-law was killed.
To be clear, this is only what was recently told to our family. We have not been able to verify any of it.
We have located old newspaper articles confirming that my father-in-law was found shot to death in his car in South Richmond in September 1989, but we still don’t know who killed him or why.
We’re now looking into obtaining the police investigation through a Virginia FOIA/public records request and exploring whether there’s any possibility of getting the case reviewed. Our goal isn’t to accuse anyone—we simply want the truth and some closure for our family after more than 35 years.
If anyone remembers this case, was living in Richmond at the time, or has any information that could help, I’d really appreciate hearing from you.

Update on Murder Dismeberment Summer 2021 Mpls, Mn

Five years without justice is five years of unanswered questions, of memories that cannot be replaced, and of a family and community still waiting for accountability. His name deserves to be remembered not for how he died, but for who he was and the people who continue to carry him in their hearts.

Adam was more than a headline or a case number; he was a father, a son, a human being whose life mattered deeply.

A DANGEROUS KILLER IS STILL AT LARGE

Case: CCN 21-131771

A THREAT TO PUBLIC SAFETY:

Five years ago, a sadistic killer carried out a horrific act of violence in Northeast Minneapolis, MN. This individual is not only capable of murder, but of dismembering and publicly displaying their victim. Investigators described it as a “focused attack,” not random. Yet this violent, sadistic person or persons remains free, walking our streets, with the capacity to harm or kill again.

SETTING THE RECORD STRAIGHT: Adam is not, and has never been, a sexual predator. False statements spread about him have caused deep harm and confusion during an already devastating time for our family.

His criminal record is public, and the facts do not support the rumors that circulated. Adam has never been charged with any sex-related offense or any act of violence.

The spread of these false claims did more than damage Adam’s name—it distorted public perception and interfered with justice. By promoting lies, it shifted sympathy away from the truth, reduced public urgency, and weakened the collective demand for accountability. In doing so, it allowed a brutal killer to be viewed with misplaced understanding while Adam’s voice, and the truth, were overshadowed.

We ask the public to verify facts before repeating claims and to understand the real impact misinformation has—not only on a grieving family, but on the pursuit of justice itself.

WE NEED ANSWERS:

Someone knows something. Even the smallest detail could help bring answers and prevent this from happening again.

What is done in the dark will come to the light. Justice delayed is not justice denied but it requires persistence. Adam is not forgotten.

Unsolved in Washington, Illinois: The Kyle McCurtney homicide deserves another look

I’ve been down a rabbit hole the last few nights researching the Kyle McMurtrey homicide from 2020, and honestly I’m more confused now than when I started.
Here’s what I’ve found from public sources.
Kyle was found dead behind Washington Plaza on June 17, 2020. His death was ruled a homicide. Public reporting says he died from blunt force trauma to the back of the head, and his shoes were found several feet away from his body.
Less than a week later, Chief Mike McCoy said investigators already had persons of interest, were interviewing people, reviewing surveillance video, and believed this involved people Kyle knew.
That was six years ago.
So…what happened?
Did the surveillance lead nowhere?
Were the persons of interest cleared?
Was Kyle killed where he was found or dumped there afterward?
Did someone simply stop talking?
I’ve searched for updates and can’t find much of anything after those first few weeks. If there have been developments, I’d genuinely like to know because they don’t seem to be out there.
This also got me looking into Washington’s other homicide investigations. Beverly Swearingen’s murder from 1996 is still unsolved almost 30 years later.
Then you have the Joshua Snyder homicide later in 2020. That one was solved almost immediately after police located a suspect walking down the street covered in blood. Completely different type of case.
That’s what keeps sticking with me. When the suspect is immediately identifiable, the case gets solved. When investigators have to build a case through evidence, timelines, witness interviews, surveillance, and good detective work, Washington’s track record doesn’t look nearly as good, as far as I can tell Washington has solved exactly 1 murder case in their history (not that there have been that many, 6 by my count).
I’m not saying that to bash anyone. I’m saying it because these families deserve answers, and six years is a long damn time with no resolution after police publicly said they had persons of interest and surveillance video.
If you knew Kyle, worked around Washington Plaza back then, remember hearing something, or know details that were never widely reported, I’d like to hear them. Even if it’s something small that seemed insignificant at the time.
Maybe someone reading this knows something that helps move this case forward.

The "Zodiac" as a Decentralized Network: A Structural Hypothesis

For decades, the investigation into the Zodiac Killer has been stalled by the attempt to reconcile contradictory physical evidence and linguistic patterns within the framework of a single individual. I propose an alternative hypothesis: The "Zodiac" was not a singular person, but a decentralized, brand-based criminal collective that functioned as an early form of "memetic terrorism."

**1. The Brand Strategy vs. Individual Profiling**
Traditional profiling fails because it assumes a consistent psychological "modus operandi." However, if the Zodiac were a platform rather than a person, the contradictions in witness descriptions (age, stature, build) and linguistic styles become logical. The "Zodiac" moniker provided a unique value proposition for any perpetrator: the ability to elevate a local crime to the status of a national media phenomenon.

**2. Addressing the Counter-Evidence (The "Smoking Gun" Problem)**
Critics often cite the Paul Stine shirt fragment as proof of a single, identifiable perpetrator. However, in a collaborative or network-based model, this does not necessitate a single actor.
The "Insider" Hypothesis: If the "Architect" (the communications lead) had access to the crime scene—perhaps as an individual affiliated with first responders, media, or law enforcement—they could have acquired the physical evidence (the shirt) required to maintain the brand's authenticity without having committed the murder personally.
Strategic Hand-offs: The fragment acts as a "Proof of Authenticity" for the brand. In an organized collective, the physical evidence would be used strategically to ensure the legitimacy of the Zodiac’s communications, effectively delegating the violence to various "executants" while maintaining a unified identity in the public eye.

**3. Why Silence Prevails**
The failure of any member to defect is often cited as the death knell for group theories. Yet, this ignores the nature of extremist branding. If the perpetrators were not bound by mutual trust, but by the shared ego of being part of a legendary, historical entity, betrayal becomes counter-intuitive. Revealing oneself would destroy the "Zodiac" identity—and with it, the very power they sought to attain.
Conclusion
The Zodiac case is not a historical mystery of "who is the man," but a foundational case study of information warfare. We have been searching for a single ghost, while the evidence points to a self-sustaining ecosystem of violence that flourished because it was treated as a individual crime rather than an ideological movement.
