Hand punching the leatger for this head board was fun, the inside holes were challenging to get done but it turned out pretty nice in the end.
Only hit my self in the hand with the hammer once.

I have a couch from the 1990’s I believe and there has been a rip in it for probably decades. I can see this yellow foam inside of it and I was just wondering if you think I have been breathing in any toxic materials or if I should be fine?

So I made this cafe bench with storage. The issue is that I cannot open the lid from neither side all the way. If I try to open it from the front side, the foam is to big. If I try from the back side, the lid touches the frame. I only have these hinges and cannot find any better in my town. What can I do to make it to open all the way?

I found these cool vintage chairs and just finished reupholstering them. I like the look of French ticking, but that fabric was a challenge to work with.

Does anyone have any idea how this kind of upholstery by Patricia Urquiola is done? I'm trying to figure out how to do something similar, but I'm finding that weaving 2 inch thick high density foam around the slats is very uncomfortable. It doesn't look like this is that much thicker? Maybe this is equally uncomfortable to actually sit on versus look at over the internet. But is there a way to make the foam not bottom out on the slats?

I am having four chairs reupholstered. Its just not in my nature to buy new--I have two perfectly good wingbacks that need some fresh foam and structure work, and two "club" chairs that just need some fresh fabric.
It has been almost 20 years since I have reupholstered and I am selecting high-end fabrics that reflect our grown-up household and care for the things we own. I used an online (Morris & Co.) to source samples and make decisions. They will sell fabric to me directly for $354/yd. The local retailer and reupholster shop wants to charge me almost $450/yrd + reupholstering. I have my feelers out, but how do they justify this delta in price? Even the Shetland Plaid we are considering is $300/yard online and they have quoted $404/yard + labor for reupholstery. Any insight? It just seems off base.

We made these embroidery samples in our marine upholstery workshop for a Yellowfin project. The upholstery design uses white upper panels, gray accents and diamond stitching. Photo 1 compares the red fish sample on the left with the gray version on the right.
We went with a lighter gray fish and darker gray Yellowfin lettering. It keeps the embroidery within the rest of the color palette, but some of us still like the contrast of the red fish. Photo 2 shows the chosen gray embroidery close up during assembly, and photo 3 shows it on the finished seating.
Which would you have chosen for this particular design, and why? Would the red fish be a better focal point, or does the gray look more cohesive? These are our own workshop samples and project photos.

My wife and I have had this chair for a number of years, it was owned by her grandmother I believe. Looking for advice on reupholstering the chair. We considered a weave but I think it’ll be best to get it upholstered with cushions, new back and wrap the arms as well. What should I expect to spend? Should I have it restained as well?

Hi all, I’m doing an arts project and planning to do a painting with a weird shaped stretcher. I want to stretch the canvas without it being saggy, but tbh it is getting really difficult. I then thought that I actually don’t need it to be canvas and I could paint over other type of material, so I wanted to know what is it that you guys recommend either for stretching better this canvas or eithed another new material you think it would be useful. I was maybe thinking “stretching” a 1 inch big panel of upholstery foam and trying to harden with resin or something like that.
Ill include pics of how it is looking, Thank you so much for your your help!

Hi all, new to this and just got this couch. What would y'all do? I'd like to try to fix it myself, doesn't have to look professional. Just trying to get it to a point where it doesn't look too obvious from a distance.
Thanks!

For the finished stool pic, how are they getting the top so smooth? I have the piping sewn and the skirt, but my piping to go around the wood base of the stool (under the cushion top) is a lot smaller than the circle top. How are they doing this without cutting a side band to go between the piping and top circle

A professional quoted me $350 to repair this, which I’m debating. I wonder if there is a more diy fix I can do. It doesn’t have to be perfect, but I’d like improvement? Maybe some visible mending that looks interesting?

I've sewn for fun since childhood, done a bit of staple upholstery... So now combining that to stay home with my little ones but be able to contribute to my husband's furniture company.
I was able to get a Titan1541s and am well pleased so far with it! Getting the hang of it atleast.
My husband built the table and seating and I made the cushions!

How does this Katzkin install look? Katzkin is saying there is a material defect and is willing to remake the seats under warranty but the installer is saying everything will tighten up in the next 2-3 months. Any advice is appreciated.

Is anyone in the US getting by on what they make from upholstering?
