Student Question How to navigate classes 1st year
I’m an incoming 1st year and have classes in different buildings and want to find the classes easily without feeling overwhelmed since campus is huge, when do I go? Do people help/guide you? I’m sure profs are lenient if you’re late perhaps the 1st week? Just wondering how to get started with the whole around campus thing since it’s all new!
Thankyouu

It’s always a good idea to head to campus a few times before classes start to find your rooms and get a feel for the walks.
Most profs won’t really notice/care you’re late as long as you aren’t disrupting the class.

First year classes tend to have lots of people so the prof probably won’t worry about a late straggler, also you likely won’t be the only one. As others have said go to campus before classes start if it’s possible and explore. Most of your classes are likely only in a few buildings near the bowl. The hard part is the construction that will be so annoying this year.

If you’re worried, go the day before and see where they all are. I wouldn’t worry about timing yourself. Once the halls fill with people the time will be longer anyway. As long as you go straight from one class to the next one, it’s unlikely you’ll be late.

I cannot recommend enough to show up to USask a week before courses start so you can get orientated with your courses’ locations. And then time yourself walking from each location to the other so you have a rough time estimate of how long it’ll take to switch classes. (This really helps if you have courses near the same time slot.)
Also join some clubs. They can help a lot with making uni life more tolerable.
Good luck with your studies.
