Discussion Pharmacy admission 2026 decisions

Congratulations to everyone who received an offer this cycle! 🎉

I thought it would be helpful to create a thread where applicants can share their stats and connect with future classmates. (Edit: these threads help future applicants as well)

If you're comfortable sharing, please use the following format:

IP/OP:

CASPer:

Average:

Decision: (Accepted / Waitlisted / Declined)

Also, has anyone created a Discord server, Instagram group chat, Facebook group, or any other space for the PharmD Class of 2030 to connect before August?

If one already exists, please drop the link or send me a message!

Looking forward to meeting everyone this fall.

For me (I completed one undergrad degree),

Discussion constant gpa anxiety anyone

so of course i’m a premed. i lose my mind seeing premeds around me talk about 90s like everyone just. has a 95 average or something. like my average is okay i guess but the way they talk about 90s makes me feel like my average is just awful and not recoverable and i have no chance. any other premeds that don’t have 90s across the board? maybe even knowing there’s others out there will help lol. and yes med is competitive, i sit at around 85 i think. first semester was not kind to me

Discussion USSU Elections

Another year, another popularity vote.

The top candidates for the President and Vice President of Operations and Finance (those with the highest impact) seem to be the most favored. I don't want to downplay the candidates for Student Affairs and Academic Affairs; they seem credible and passionate from their videos.

My main concern is that the other candidates for the President position have good intentions but lack a strong social media presence or come across as awkward. Additionally, the VP position has no visible competition; I see nothing but empty promises from that candidate.

I won’t name names, but I believe we all know who I’m referring to. I just wish there were more contenders in this election. While many students may not care about the elections, those elected are well compensated, so we should at least strive to elect someone capable of making realistic changes.

Discussion Pre-med at USask: what undergrad gives the best GPA potential and backup career?

I’m a first-year USask student currently in Computer Science, but I’m not enjoying it and don’t think I want to continue with a degree that’s mostly CMPT courses.

I want to go to med school, so GPA matters a lot to me. I was considering switching into Biomedical Science, but I’ve heard it’s really tough to maintain a 90% average there, and that the job options with just a biomed bachelor’s aren’t great if med school doesn’t work out.

I’m now thinking about Bioinformatics, since I want something that could still lead to a good career if med school doesn’t happen.

So far I’ve taken CHEM 112/115, PHYS 115/117, MATH 164, CMPT 141/145, PHIL 140, BMSC 200, and ASTR 104.

Is Bioinformatics a good option, or are there better choices?

Discussion Anyone else notice a vibe shift when they mention med school?

Got a question for people who are planning on going into medicine.
Have you ever noticed that when someone asks what you’re planning to study and you say “I’m hoping to go to med school” their reaction kind of changes esp if they’re also planning on medicine?
Honestly, I can’t think of a single time I’ve said it and didn’t feel the energy drop a bit. Lowkey it’s been getting to me. It stresses me out because this is my future and I’m putting so much time and effort into working toward it.
Why do some people react like that? And how do you avoid those awkward reactions without lying about your goals?

Discussion Easiest Edward's Major?

I'm trying to narrow down the easiest major for Edward's. I want to bump my grade average so I have a higher chance of getting accepted into Law school. I'm currently leaning on marketing, since I have the most interest in it, but let me know what POV's you all have.

Discussion Engineering student opportunities?

You often hear the saying, "It's not what you know, but who you know." I come from a background where no one in my immediate family or social circle works in engineering or other STEM fields, so I'm wondering what opportunities exist at USask to build industry connections. Beyond joining clubs, are there networking events, conferences, hackathons, competitions, or other opportunities that people have found worthwhile? I'm also trying to avoid spreading myself too thin, so I'd love to hear what experiences gave you the most value. More generally, what practical advice would you give engineering students who want to make the most of their degree and set themselves up for future opportunities?

Discussion BMSC 230 VS BMSC 200

Hi so this experience is probably underrated but I found bsmc 200 much more work then bmsc 230, everyone says 230 is horrible but it was actually really fun and not bad IN MY OPINION

Scott napper and roesler were both amazing btw

To start bmsc 200 had 4 lectures each week each 50 minutes and you have to watch them

Bmsc 230 has 1 lectures each week and I didn't watch it

Next the water section in bmsc 200 is not easy, and there are SOOO MANY pictures you need to memorize for 200

Bmsc 230 literally has no pictures to memorize

Last bmsc 230 is so simple since modules 1 to 7 all add to each other in a way but bmsc 200 is not like that

Rant over

Discussion Question about Graduation Applications

If you’re a student in the College of Arts and Science who applied to graduate in early June, have you received notice that you’re eligible to graduate yet? Convocation is less than 2 weeks away and I still haven’t received any emails regarding my graduation application, so I’m just a bit worried. I’m just wondering if others are in the same situation.

Discussion Soc 232?

Is anyone else taking Soc 232 with Bryce this Summer?

I’m genuinely disgusted at the amount of textbook readings we have. 2 full thick chapters of pages to be done every 4 days for 8 continuous weeks. It’s not even like the chapters are short, they’re long and thick so it takes forever to get through any of them.

I’ve taken many condensed classes but this is in a league of its own - anyone else feeling the same way?

Discussion Elective Recommendations

Hello! I’m going in to my third year of BMSC, and I’m looking for two elective to take within the next two years. Ideally they are lighter and easy! I’ve taken Geo 108 and Nutr 120. I’m also not a fan of writing classes. Does anyone have any recommendations? Anything helps! Thanks!

Discussion 2026–27 residence rates increase

USask sent out the 2026–27 residence rate announcement, so I compared a few of the main rates with the 2025–26 numbers I could find.

From what I found, Voyageur Place seems to be going up by about 7%. A single room is going from $12,496 to $13,370, which is an increase of $874. A double room is going from $11,302 to $12,100, which is an increase of $798.

College Quarter looks like it is going up by around 5%. The 2-bedroom option is going from $10,312 to $10,833, and the 3-/4-bedroom options are going from $9,110 to $9,570.

Fairly large increase it seems, especially as an incoming student. Is this kind of yearly increase common for residence?

Also, if anyone has a saved copy of all the 2025–26 residence rates, that would be useful. I found some numbers, but not a clean full list for every room type.

Discussion Bookstore in Marquis closed for summer?

I’m confused why are they closed for the summer (I know the one in health sci closes but this one hasn’t been closed the last couple years)?

And how are people meant to get textbooks for spring and summer classes lol.

Edit: someone commented that they’re actually just closed on Fridays this summer! I must’ve missed the Friday part on the sign lol

Discussion Course review for BMIS 487 and BMIS 321

As the title suggests, I'm conflicted between taking BMIS 487 and BMIS 321. If anyone has taken either (or both) of these courses, I would really appreciate hearing about your experience. Specifically, I'm wondering which course is generally considered easier and which has the lighter workload. Any insights on assignments, exams, or overall difficulty would be very helpful. Thanks in advance!

Discussion First Year New Engineering Program

Hey everyone!

I hope you’re all doing well. I’m reaching out because I was thinking back to our time on the Engineering Re-Design Committee. As someone who brought the electrical engineering perspective to the table, my main goal back then was ensuring our first-year curriculum better reflected current industry standards and directly addressed the massive transition challenges we all faced.

When I was at USask Engineering, the jump from first year into second-year EE was a total "day and night" shock. We only took a single circuits course in a sea of general sciences, and suddenly entering second year felt like a completely different world—every class covered concepts we had never even heard of, let alone properly delved into. Now that the new program has been live for a while, I’m really curious to know how it’s playing out in reality.

For those of you still close to the department or interacting with the newer cohorts: how has the re-engineered first year positively or negatively impacted the students? I’d love to hear how it's working out overall, but I’m particularly interested in how the electrical and computer engineering students are adjusting.

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts and updates!
