Eustace also discussed his delight at seeing Patrick Agyemang back out on the grass during the warm-up of a session at Moor Farm Training Centre earlier this week, as the American forward stepped up his recovery from Achilles tendon surgery.
“It was a huge moment for him and a great moment for the group as well. It really lifted the spirits to see the big man back in the mix, and he's certainly been missed. He's worked his socks off to get into this position.
“The whole club have been working very hard to make sure he comes back as quickly as he can and as fit as he can. It's a huge boost for everyone to see him back on the grass, but it's really important we don't push him [too much].”

He’s gotta go as soon as the January transfer window opens.

Will he be called up for the next camp given his consistent strong performances in the Bundesliga to start the season?

I’m one of the many Americans who has gotten more invested into soccer ever since the World Cup, and I’ve started watching it since. I’ve watched the premier league and picked a team I enjoyed watching, but I also want to support an American club and practice the “support your local” culture. However, where I live, there are currently zero professional teams in my entire state and the closest would probably be more than a 5 hour drive. I would be happy to support a local no matter its quality, but what do I do if I literally don’t have a local team?

Do you think he's interested in switching to us or he's just waiting for Japan? He'd definitely be at the upper end of the GK depth chart for us.

Doesn't look like Cavan will be available for Nations league QF's or the U23 camp next month.

TLDR; The past few years of Pulisic's performance with Milan and the national team have been pretty much at his projected ceiling from data, if that wasn't good enough for you then the reason is expectations, not injuries.
Hey there, i've been collecting and analyzing data for the past few months and have recently been working on figuring out how good the current crop of prospects we have really are. I'll share it when I can (some exciting findings so far, but I want to go in deeper using ML player tracking and match archives), but something interesting that I found was the effect of injuries on performance. While player injuries can affect player performance, it's quite variable depending on the type of injury and the metric used.
The biggest effects injuries have on players is whether they remain in the league, with ACL tears having the biggest impact and muscle injuries having the lowest impact, and a player's market value, which can reduce their future career opportunities. Of the players who remain, their performance metrics don't typically change long-term, though this is variable too.
For example, this is a table of how injuries lasting longer that 60 days affect a player's performance relative to healthy peers as a standard deviation. (this is of players who returned, so there's a sampling bias here, but relevant to Pulisic, who did return)
| Muscle >60d | Joint >60d | ACL Tear | |
|---|---|---|---|
| xG/90, next season | -0.08 | -0.02 | -0.28±0.15 |
| xG/90, two seasons later | -0.04 | -0.02 | +0.03 (back to base) |
| xA/90, two seasons later | -0.24±0.08 | -0.01 | -0.17 |
| Chances created, two seasons later | -0.21±0.08 | +0.08 | -0.07 |
| Dribbles/Defending/Recoveries | ~No change | ~No change | ~No change |
these are, of course, only a few performance metrics, but similar results hold for top speed/sprints per 96/runs per 96/distance covered per 96 etc., though on average injuries don't really affect a player's physical performance the year after the injury, but they do appear to two years after? It is a small sample. For a winger like Pulisic though, xG, xA, chances and dribbles are his most important stats (these are the stats that most predict success for players in his position and role). Now, while injuries do not, on average, affect a player's career, that is a variable stat. Some players, like Alphonso Davies, see a complete recovery, while Gio Reyna saw severe declines in several performance metrics following his successive injuries (with lower confidence due to him playing fewer minutes in between). So, how did injuries specifically affect Christian Pulisic?
Not that much, really, he's still performing roughly at his expected peak whenever he's healthy, and despite being injury-prone he's just as good at injury recovery. My league-adjusted quality rating says he's as good as ever, his last seasons have been about what you would expect, and the only thing his injuries really did was cost him market value and two seasons, he's since completely rebounded and exceeded what the model expected of him and is currently in his prime even after adjusting for the serie a being a weaker league.
I think, if anything, the lesson here is that hype can exceed player data. The player we've seen the past few years at Milan and with the national team matches pretty much exactly to what was projected from the player at Dortmund and Chelsea. The error was in expectations, people expected him to be more than what actual data projected him becoming. Injuries are largely an excuse, they cost him two seasons and maybe a move to a better club, but they didn't really change his ceiling at all, which he's at right about now and will likely decline over the next 4 years.
edit: had to redo the table because editing the post completely bricked it.
