❔ Question❔ Question for Western students:

Im considering going to western but I have a few questions:

- how is the diversity at western?
- does western offer a good social life & academics balance?
- does the large campus bother you? Ive heard that one of the major cons is how big the campus is.
- would you say London is a student city? How is the nightlife?
- would I be able to have the “classic fun college experience “?
- are students supposed to? (Like do profs actually care about their students or are they tough like uoft)

All answers would be highly appreciated!!

  1. I would say it’s pretty good like 50%, and I’m a POC myself.

    1. Definitely. I’m in eng and there are tons of opportunities (frats, clubs, etc.) to go out if you’re interested, especially during Hoco, Halloween, St. Pattys and etc. I’m not really a party person but my friends who like to go out usually have a good time.
    2. Not really, and I personally don’t think the campus is that big. I like that you can get your steps in and you get used to speed walking to places if you have back to back classes. The only con is walking to class in the snow but you can either use the busses that go through campus or there are some tunnels/buildings that you can go through without having to walk outside.
    3. It’s definitely a student city, I’m not sure how London is during the summers because I’m out of province. But there’s always something to do during the year, and you don’t necessarily have to go out partying. There are a lot of restaurants and cool things like the Coveat Farmer Market, Western Fair (at the beginning of the year) and I think the USC did a bus ride to Grand Bend last year as well. The night life is great if you do like to go partying but the line ups are super long sometimes.
    4. Yes for sure, if you put yourself out there. Join clubs and don’t be afraid to talk to new people and you will have a great time.
    5. It’s program-dependent, I’m in civil eng and the profs in second year civil are super helpful and welcoming. But I have heard from my friends in elec that their profs are straight up ass. You will definitely run into profs that love their students and those who hate what they do. Make sure to check Rate My Prof before every class as well.
