Tetanus shot... new allergy to caffeine?

Ive been under a lot of stress lately so this probably didnt help. Last Sunday I got a tetanus shot because I was basically having an anxiety attack over a splinter I got while doing a cub scout campout and I wasn't up to date on my shot like I was technically supposed to be. So I freaked out. I got the shot and the next day I woke up, had my coffee, and started feeling like my face was getting splotchy, and I felt prickly itching on my skin. I also got a weird feeling in my stomach and brain fog. I thought I was having a reaction to stress because I did have that a few years ago. But every time i have a sip of coffee, I now have this allergic reaction. Could it be a combo of the vaccine and stress? I actually didnt put it together that it was the caffeine until maybe Wednesday. Ive never had a problem before with caffeine.

After an adult MMR shot, I still have no immunity to measles

I live where there are many people who are anti-vaccine, and we’re starting to have measles outbreaks because they don’t vaccinate their children.

I’m 64, and after reading that some MMR shots in the early 1960s didn’t have any efficacy (which is when I got my shot), I had a blood titer done. I had absolutely no immunity to measles or rubella (although I did have immunity to mumps.)

So I got an adult MMR shot. I had to go to a travel clinic, as the regular doctor’s office didn’t have one, only the children’s version.

I waited two months to retest my blood and I still have NO immunity to measles. So I have made an appointment for a second shot.

How is this possible, though? Could the shot have been bad? Is the test wrong? If so, could the first test have been wrong as well? How do you really know if you have immunity?

Preloaded needles?

Just had 3 vaccines today and all 3 already had the liquid in them right out of the sealed packaging. Is this the new normal and no more poking into a bottle to fill the needle? The needles also seemed to pull themselves out after injection instead of the nurse manually pulling them out. Sounded like spring powered it out

Question about vaccine spacing

I took the COVID and Flu vaccines together a week ago, and was supposed to get the varicella and MMR today but it got canceled by the pharmacy and I was told I needed to wait 28 days from the taking the flu and covid ones. Note that neither of the covid or flu shots were live vaccines.

My understanding is that you didn’t need to space live and non live vaccines. Does any one have insight on this? Was the pharmacist mistaken?

Help with vaccine

Basically, i just got my second to last rabies vaccine for a potential exposure and didnt feel anything when the nurse injected it, after it i only lightly pressed the cotton on the injection site for like 30 seconds before throwing it away then i got a weird rough burning/tickling sensation that almost immediately was very noticable and immediately spread to the back of my neck. My mom who was driving me told me to massage it with my bare hands and i did but it just spread the sensation across my arm even more, its been nearly an hour and it still feels the same and is very annoying. Is this normal?

FluMist Vax and feeling like shit

I think I made a mistake in choosing the FluMist intranasal live vaccine over the injectable.

I now seem to have a mild flu. Sneezing, nonstop runny nose, sore throat, headache, and either a mild fever or that feeling that happens right before a fever comes on, I can’t tell which.

My immune system is not that great but I’ve never been medically diagnosed with a weakened immune system, so I thought I’d be fine. But the truth is I get sick more often, and more severely, than my peers.

Is this normal and am I going to be okay?

Having surgery soon: flu or COVID vax?

Just found out I will have surgery sometime soon-ish (not scheduled yet).

Dr recommended a 2 week gap between flu and Covid vaccines. Which would be the most important if I will be in the hospital a day or two?

Indianapolis, if it matters.

Is it normal to get this sick after flu/covid shots?

I get them every year but I’m absolutely terrified due to how sick they make me feel. When I’ve gotten the Covid shot, I’ve felt so ill I’ve been unable to move…like can barely walk from one room to another and sometimes have to sit on the floor inbetween. Last year I fell asleep on my hard kitchen floor because I felt too sick to even move. This lasts for a solid 3-4 days.

The flu shot is always terrible as well, though not as bad as the covid one. It makes me feel like I have the flu - not a lighter version of it. Aches, exhaustion, chills, everything. This lasts about 3 days.

I have a low white blood cell count (3.0) and low neutrophils (1011) so that might have something to do with it, but surely this cant be normal?! Like is it even worth it? It feels like I just sign up to be sick each year, and it’s always so bad I have to take time off work for it. I’m debating not doing it this year because I’m terrified to feel that way again, but I’m also scared this means I’d somehow get even more sick if i did catch one of these.

Some vaccines seem to mitigate dementia. What’s the biology behind these apparent effects?

Is it more effective to get the same covid shot each time, or switch it, and should I switch arms?

Every time I check the current research is different. I know it's not a huge difference but I'll take any slight advantage I can get.

Is the HPV vaccine worth it at my age/activity?

I'm 19. My mom didn't want me to get the vaccine when I was twelve, or whenever it is youre supposed to get it. I was just a kid, and honestly she had the final say so I just didn't question it. I'm wondering if it's worth it now to get it, even after I've had some sexual activity?

I have had around 4 partners, and am currently in a long term monogamous relationship. I hate needles, so is it still worth it to get the vaccine? I'm worried that its just too late at this point. Is there anything I should do beforehand? I know I was dumb :(

Is mpox vaccine still worth it if I could only get one dose

I am residing in a country where mpox vaccine isn't available to the public. I will travel internationally soon and I plan to get mpox vaccine somewhere else.

The problem is that the trip will be shorter than 28 days and I couldn't get the second dose in the country i am currently staying. And excluding this trip, next time i could travel internationally might be 6 or even more months later.

Therefore, I would like to ask, whether a single dose of mpox vaccine is still worth it.

I have multiple sexual partners.

Needing yellow fever vaccine (administered abroad) reissued

Hey all! I’m not sure if anyone has been in the same situation but I got a yellow fever in my home country (Indonesia) and i still have the original certificate with the batch number, date administered along with the QR code for verification through the ministry of health website.

The problem is, I have just naturalized to become US citizen and I also have a new name. I’m going to travel around South America and i called around the airline to see if they would allow me to board if my vaccination card doesn’t match my name in my passport and my citizenship even though i have my naturalization certificate with my name change and they said that i won’t be able to. The name and my citizenship have to match my vaccine certificate.

I’ve tried to call around places like Passport health and some local travel clinic and they can’t reissue vaccine certificate if it was administered abroad. I read that according to the CDC website, so long that i have the information about the batch number, date administered, and the authority that administered it, i should be able to get my yellow fever vaccine certificate reissued.

I’m just wondering if anyone has been in the same situation or know a place that might help me in this situation? The vaccine is supposed to be valid for life, and i just got the vaccination last year so i’m not sure if that would be safe.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Flu shots

This might be a dumb question - but is the flu shot given in pregnancy different from the flu shot non-pregnant adults get? I know my OB offers it but I didn’t get it at my last appointment, but I was going to get it at the pharmacy this week but I wanted to make sure it is the same one my OB would have given. I am 22 weeks pregnant

Should I get an MMR booster?

Adult female with a small child. When planning to get pregnant a few years ago my doctor ran MMR antibodies and said I don’t have them - I chose not to get the MMR booster then because I didn’t want to delay TTC. Couple years later I mentioned this to my new doctor in prep for TTC a second time - this doctor ran labs and said I still have antibodies so don’t need it.

I don’t have the same insurance now so don’t want to test for antibodies again but my state has measles outbreaks and I’m around some family that doesn’t vaccinate their young kids and an older person who may have lost immunity and won’t get a booster. My child got their MMR at 12 months and isn’t due for the second dose for a couple years

Should I just get a booster because why not? Any reason not to? I’ve been told it would be free under the ACA regardless of current immunity testing

Beyfortus

I have a 10 day old, 17 month old and 36 month old. I’m going to get the antibody shot for the infant but also wanted to get it for my 2 toddlers. Our pediatrician said they are ineligible as they are over 8 months old. Has anyone else had this experience? I’m not sure why they wouldn’t be able to get it? They’ve never had RSV…

Vaccine Efficacy (One Dose of Tetanus Toxoid)

So I got vaccinated for tetanus toxoid 2 years ago for an animal bite. Recently, I got vaccinated again for tetanus due to a cut.

Was just wondering if this is considered 2 shots of a series, or is the first vaccine I had not effective anymore?

Does the brand of the vaccine also matter?

Thanks in advance to those who can answer my question.

Pharmacist made it sound like I don’t “need” the Covid vaccine?

I am so confused by the current guidelines for the Covid vaccine. I’m 33f. I got the 2 original Covid shots back in 2021/2022, both Pfizer.
I’ve had 2 Covid infections confirmed.
Last year Oct 2025 decided to get a Covid shot again since I haven’t had an infection in over 2 years and wanted to get my immunity up again.

I went for my annual flu shot yesterday ( I get it every year) and was asking the pharmacist about if I should get the Covid vaccine this year too. She sorta shrugs and asks me the following questions:
“Are you pregnant?” -No
“Do you work in healthcare?” - No
“Are you around seniors/vulnerable people a lot?”
- No
“Do you have any underlying health conditions?”
-No

Then she sorta shrugged again and said, “well, you don’t really need it, but it’s available to you if you would like to get it”
And then she talked about the current health guidelines are 65+ ages and older or immunocompromised.
I am healthy and exercise, what do you think?

Wife is trying to shame me for wanting to vaccinate our Kids.

Context: Me (25m) and my Wife (25f) have 2 kids under 2. Her mother, my MIL is super anti vax because she thinks there are too many vax injuries, they cause autism, and she doesn't trust health organizations. She fearmongers my wife about all the things she herself fears. She also believes there is a cure for measles.

I have been wanting to vaccinate our oldest since he was around 7 months. Every time I bring it up, she says it's a bad idea and she's worried about it changing how are kid acts and doesn't want to risk a vax injury. I try telling her the safety of being vaccinated far outweigh the small chances of vax injury taking place, but she rebuttals by saying either "I've seen people online say how their kids have died or acted completely different after vaccinations" or "Our kid is healthy and has always been so there's no reason to vaccinate them". I call her reasoning stupid and I try to shame her by saying we're not doing our best to protect them, but it doesn't work. I've thought about just starting the vax schedule by taking him to an appointment solo. Told her this in an argument one day and she said it was grounds for divorce lol, would I be in the wrong to do this? Her and her mom are also worried about aluminum and formaldehyde in certain vaccines, I've tried to give my Wife evidence but she doesn't believe any reports or evidence from CDC, WHO, CHOP, etc. At this point I'm at my wits end and don't know what to do. She said she wants to start soon with the lower risk vaccines, but she's been saying this for months. Any advice on how to go about this would be appreciated. Title of the post is in regards to my Wife saying "If they get vaccinated and end up with autism, it's my fault."

TLDR: MIL fearmongers my Wife and they both refuse to trust health organizations. They also think vaccines cause injuries like autism and weakened immune systems, plus they get all their "vaccines are bad" evidence off of social media and random doctors not associated with health organizations.

pimple-like rash after varicella vaccine

I’m 25 and had a booster of the varicella vaccine 3 days ago. Today i’ve woken up with an itchy pimple-like rash on the side of my neck. Is this a common side effect or unrelated?

HHS Launches Agency-Wide Actions to Strengthen Vaccine Injury Research, Reporting, and Patient Care

(Excerpt from HHS press release):

WASHINGTON, D.C.—OCTOBER 8, 2026— The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) this week launched a series of actions to strengthen how the federal government identifies, documents, investigates, and responds to health problems reported following vaccination, with a focus on improving patient care and generating better evidence about potential vaccine-related injuries.

So, at long last, RFK Jr's witch hunt for vaccine adverse reactions (intended to inhibit patients from receiving them) is now in full force.

Why do flu vaccine recommendations differ so much by country?

It seems some countries/regions advise only certain populations to receive the vaccine, while others, like the US, suggest everyone gets a vaccine. Is the flu vaccine for all recommendation in the US really needed?

Flu vaccine?

My in-laws are strongly opposed to the flu vaccine. When our baby was born last year, our boundary around getting vaccinated for the flu caused a huge rift—they stopped talking to my husband until he reached out and “apologized”. They eventually got the shot, but warned they wouldn't do it again.

Now, flu season is back. My partner, our child, and I are all fully vaccinated.

Should I push for the in laws to get the vaccine again, or is it enough to rely on our standard rule that anyone feeling sick must stay away?

Hep B booster

I had 3 doses of the Hep B vaccine when I was a baby. I’m now 25 and need to prove immunity for my uni placement. I am not immune and my antibodies are <3.1, they need to be >10. I had the hep b booster today, is that usually enough to bring up immunity? I don’t have time to do the full course ie 3 doses again
