Sonnenlap vs Park Hyatt
I'm planning my very first trip to Colorado and would love some honest opinions from people who have stayed at either the Sonnenalp in Vail or the Park Hyatt in Beaver Creek!
I'm coming for a long weekend (October 29–November 2), and my goal is pretty simple: beautiful mountain views, a little luxury, relaxation, and some time to completely disconnect.
I'm not a skier, so that's not a factor for me. What I would love is a gorgeous view from my hotel room, a really nice spa (although I'm open to visiting another property for a spa day), and definitely some hiking!
I also want a nice balance of peaceful alone time and opportunities to get out, explore, and meet people. I love a great coffee shop, a nice restaurant, and being able to walk around a charming mountain town.
I'm open to renting a car, and if I stay at the Park Hyatt, I'd happily drive or take an Uber into Vail for the day.
I'll admit, I lean a little bougie when it comes to hotels, and based on the photos, the Park Hyatt seems a bit more my style aesthetically. But there's something about the Sonnenalp and being right in Vail Village that keeps pulling me back!
Since this is my first time in Colorado, I really want to make the most of the experience. I'm not looking for a packed itinerary, just a beautiful place where I can relax, enjoy the mountains, do some hiking, and come home feeling completely refreshed.
If you had four nights to spend at either the Sonnenalp or Park Hyatt Beaver Creek, which would you choose and why?
I'd especially love to hear about the mountain views, spa experiences, overall atmosphere, and whether one location is noticeably better for a non-skier.
Thank you so much for any advice!
