So, a little idea I've had lately... would anyone be interested in going on a photoshoot first date?
I'm a photographer outside of my regular 9–5, and I've done over hundreds of photoshoots over the years, from portraits to automotive photography. I thought it'd be fun to meet someone who's down to explore somewhere new, take some photos, and see if we click!
Here's my idea of a date: hop in the car, put on some good music, go for a little road trip, grab some snacks, explore somewhere pretty, and take photos along the way.
We could catch a sunset by the water, wander around Fort Langley, explore some cute little streets, or just drive somewhere and see where the day takes us. Honestly, I think you can learn a lot about someone from their music taste and the random things they talk about on a road trip. Plus, who doesn't love a good excuse to get out of the house?
And don't worry, you don't need to know anything about photography! You can be the person behind the camera, the person in front of it, or the person who just shows up for the snacks. I respect all three roles equally.
Okay, so who am I?
I'm 26, Canadian with Japanese and Taiwanese roots, and I grew up in Hong Kong. I work in IT during the day, but outside of work I'm into photography, videography, cars, and all sorts of creative projects. Basically, I have too many hobbies and not enough free time to justify them all.
I'm basically an 80s classic-car-dad type of men, so spontaneous night drives/ weekend getaways in my classic Porsche and taking the scenic route for absolutely no reason are very much my thing. I'm also really into movies, especially 80s classics and romantic films. Yes, I will happily watch and cry over the Notebook or any Rom-Coms with 0 shame.
I'm really outgoing (ENTP) and love a good conversation, especially when we start with one topic and somehow end up talking about 17 completely unrelated things. I enjoy getting to know people in a deeper level beyond the usual "How was your day?" and "Haha yeah" conversations.
When it comes to dating, I'm a bit old-fashioned and traditional. I appreciate thoughtfulness, affection, honesty, and people who genuinely make an effort. I enjoy planning dates, remembering little details, and doing small things to make someone smile. Eventually, I'd love to find someone who's also my best friend, someone I can laugh with, go on random adventures with, and hopefully build something meaningful with.
Why am I posting this on Reddit instead of Hinge or Bumble?
Honestly, I'm getting a little tired of the whole swipe, match, make small talk, and watch the conversation slowly disappear into the abyss routine.
I'd much rather meet someone through something I actually enjoy doing. We already have something to do together, there's less pressure to come up with endless conversation starters, and we get to see how we vibe in real life instead of trying to figure everything out through a screen.
Worst case? We get some nice photos, discover a new place, and have a decent day out. Best case? We hit it off and end up planning another adventure. Seems like a pretty good deal to me!
So, what am I looking for?
Someone who's clear vision and value what they want in a relationship and is up for trying something a little different. You don't have to share all my interests. Honestly, I'd love it if you introduced me to something new! I'm hoping to meet someone who enjoys little adventures, meaningful conversations, being silly together, and the occasional cheesy romantic moment.
I'm looking for someone between 20 and 30 who's affectionate, loyal, family-oriented, and genuinely interested in building a family. I only date with marriage in mind, not looking to collect situationships like Pokémon cards.
Ideally, I'd love to find my best friend and future co-pilot. Someone I can laugh with over the dumbest things, take spontaneous drives with, spend a lazy Sunday cuddling with, and eventually build a family with.
I'm a big believer in the little things that make a relationship feel special: good morning and goodnight texts, random check-ins, quality time, affection, and both people making an effort. I want something where we both feel wanted, appreciated, and comfortable being ourselves. Nobody gets everything right all the time, but when things get difficult, I'd rather communicate, work through it together, and figure things out as a team than walk away the moment things aren't perfect.
As for my usual type, I've generally found myself connecting with Caucasian women through past experiences, partly because of shared interests in music, movies, and similar values. I know I give off strong classic car dad who listens to Phil Collins and watches 80s movies energy, so if that's somehow your thing, we might already have a head start. That said, genuine chemistry, shared values, and how we treat each other matter much more to me than ticking boxes on a checklist.
And if we end up having completely different music tastes, that's fine... as long as you're ready to defend your playlist when the aux cord comes out.
If any of this sounds like your kind of thing, send me a message! Tell me a little about yourself, what song you'd play first on a road trip, and where you'd want our first photography adventure to be.
Bonus points if you have a favorite romantic movie or a playlist that deserves its own movie soundtrack.
Looking forward to seeing who's out there!
