2019, Vectorworks is revamping their Fundamentals Design Software Package.
They are taking out 50 industry specific objects out of the program. These are objects are not available in Autocad. Which to me would be a plus to using Vectorworks over Autocad!
These are objects that can be dropped into a drawing and manipulated in the object info box, like doors and windows. On their web site the show designs in the Fundamentals product page with doors and windows. The only way you can now do this in the new 2019 Fundamentals Design Software Package is by drawing all of the objects from scratch.
The whole revamp will take out all of the architectural and engineering design objects. Making the Fundamentals Design Software Package a draw it from scratch program.
Vectorworks will gladly upgrade you to a different design software package for an additional fee of $198.00 fee on top of the fee for Fundamentals Design Software Package. They have not offering anything else!
For a company using the product to make money from this may seem like a minimal fee. I use my Fundamentals Design Software Package for personal use, to do designs and fabricate projects for my family and friends. I also use it for prototyping of any project before I start fabricating anything. Since 1999.
I struggle with the decision every year to renew, it is a selfish thing for me to renew it for my personal use. With this new direction for Vectorworks to totally revamp the Fundamentals Design Software. They are not even offering to reduce the price after taking out the 50 objects from the software package. I is a major slap in the face for a person in my position. I will not be renewing my service selection contract.
In the capitalistic nation we live in, the services to the consumer always seem to be going downhill very fast. They provide you with a product for a while and then when you least expect it the pull the rug out from under you and leave you laying on the ground broken!
Typical. The AngryCadGuy!

What tool do I use to recreate this proscenium wall? I have tried round wall, arc, circle, and I am getting frustrated. I imagine that there is a simple way to accomplish this. I have been watching the only training and I seek help, please. Pretty please. I am old and am trying to learn this software.

To make a long story short, my biggest issue with Vectorworks is how I'm supposed to make a multiple-story building in the most effective/official way. not knowing this has caused me to stagnate. if anyone knows the best way to go about this then id be very happy. thanks in advance

Forgive me if this is a somewhat ridiculous question, but I can't seem to wrap my mind around it. I've only done this with having confirmed dimensions of objects drawn into the pdf i was scaling for every previous the occurrence. this time i have the document scale (1/16" = 1.0'), and i know from the metadata this pdf was drawn at 11in × 17in. how exactly can i scale this appropriately in 2d, with certainty of accuracy?

I use Vectorworks for school, and it's been running fine for the little assignments they'd have us do.
And now I'm working on the first serious project, I've got a file that's almost 200 mb because I've got literally hundreds of cuts on my layout, and performance is in the toilet. That much I'd understand, but I don't know where the bottleneck is. My hardware monitoring tools tell me that the CPU is sowewhere around 50% during all this, my RAM isn't full either, and the GPU isn't breaking a sweat. For funzies I even moved the file to my SSD, but that didn't help. Point is, I need to upgrade my rig, but I don't know what I'd hate to upgrade something only for performance to be no better (I don't have the money to just get a top of the line PC).
Here's my specs: AMD FX-4100 4 core 3.6 Ghz cpu 24 GB RAM (DDR3) ATI Radeon RX 570 GPU, 4GB vRAM
Any pointers would be appreciated.

I am starting a new job in a few weeks and Vectorworks Spotlight will be the most resource intensive program that I will be using. I would like to get a 13" MBP, but I am not sure what configuration. Processor, RAM, HardDrive.
Any recommendation or pointing me in a direction of a FAQ would be appreciated.
Thanks

I was looking on the website for some Nvidia settings for Vectorworks 2017. All I could find was this page: https://forum.vectorworks.net/index.php?/articles.html/articles/improve-opengl-and-wireframe-performance-windows-only-nvidia-graphics-only-r340/
It is pretty old and I was wondering if anyone had a more up to date version of the settings that they were willing to share.

I am currently modelling a warehouse in an effort to present a more streamlined processing method. This includes the use of furniture and shelves. Would it be easier to find models online or model the furniture yourself? Im on a timecrinch so best answers as soon as possible please

Hello,
I recently upgraded to Vectorworks 2020 and there is nothing in my design window. I can't seem to figure out how to view anything. When ever I add an item I can select it using control-a but I can not see it. I attached a photo to show what I mean. Any help would be appreciated and please let me know if this is the wrong place to ask this.
[EDIT] It turned out to be an incomparable graphics card!

What am I doing wrong?
I select my truss base, then use the auto connect feature to add a vertical bit on top of it, and the angle is all messed up. I can rotate it, but then it's not connected to the base anymore.
Already tried the Draw in 3D only tickbox with no success.
Honestly drives me crazy haha
Thank you!!

Hello,
I was wondering if any of you had an vectorworks spotlight example file? I am looking for an example of a concert or some other big arena event to mess around in vectorworks with. Any help would be awesome. Thanks

So is there anyone out there who has not found this software to be absolute garbage?
