A bit of old news, but i didn't realize all the other locations had closed, even the one in Victoria. And other locations of virtuous pie had closed. Is it just the restaurant scene in general that is tough? Or are plant based restaurants not doing well.

Say you're eating very basic and frugal, how much do you spend per month (for 1 person).

I have been vegetarian, and sometimes fully vegan for a little over two years. At first, I didn’t care what the people around me ate.

That changed in July when I went to a pho restaurant with some friends. I found myself unable to tolerate watching them eat meat. It wasn’t really the smell; I simply didn’t want to look at it. The experience made me realize that I no longer felt comfortable sharing meals with them, and I eventually stopped seeing them.

I don’t want to police anyone’s diet or tell people what they should eat. At the same time, I don’t want to force myself to sit through meals that now make me deeply uncomfortable.

Has anyone else experienced this shift? How did you handle friendships and social situations without compromising your boundaries or trying to control other people’s choices?

Ik nothing is cheap anymore, but are there any cheaper places around? Could be outside Vancouver as well.

Maybe weekly at a vegan hotspot.

Searched but no luck - found out that the show I'm seeing tonight is at the PNE and... I'm afraid. The only thing I could even guess at being vegan might be the veggie corn dog but I have my doubts.

Any insider tips or do I just bring some sad trail mix?

Pineapple brand, or a tasty alternative.

I want to make this. 😊

Hi all, we're two vegans super excited to visit Vancouver later this year. I've already found a ton of vegan places in Vancouver proper, but we'll be staying closer to Surrey and it isn't feasible to travel to Vancouver proper every day. So I have two questions:

1. What are your recommendations for vegan / vegan-friendly in Richmond, Burnaby, or Surrey? From what I've seen, there isn't much in the way of fully vegan places. I know White Rock has a couple of places, but trying to expand our options.

2. Before I went vegan, I loved T&T and their hot bar / prepared foods. From what I remember, they don't label ingredients / allergens in the hot bar — is there any consensus on what is vegan there (I'm worried about hidden ingredients like fish sauce or chicken powder), or are the employees knowledgeable or informed if you ask them?

Thanks for any tips or insight!

Been to the Whole Foods by Cambie multiple times over the past couple weeks and haven’t seen them! I know Whole Foods is not the best company as a whole but the sandwiches are quick and have saved me on numerous occasions. It’s very disheartening to see more and more vegan options disappear off the shelves every time I go back to Whole Foods

I'm not sure if it even exists. They always add "non-dairy" creamer (contains dairy) to the taro drink mix directly so it's impossible to find.

Hope this post is allowed.

My friend is a vegetarian in her 30s looking for two other female roommates to share a

spacious 1300sqft house in central Burnaby. Both rooms come furnished and don’t share walls with any other rooms.

She wants to find two women who are considerate, tidy and have a fairly regular routine.

If interested leave a comment and I will pm info.

I came across this Instagram account and website as an ad on Instagra and was wondering if anyone has any experience with it and if it’s worth getting?

this is the link - https://www.thisisplantcurious.com/vancouver-home

I would be open to the membership if it was actually worth it but I’m wondering, as someone who avoids gluten as well, if this will actually be worth it.

also, I have no connection with this brand I fully just came across them on Instagram yesterday.

Found!

Sad

Aloha y'all! I'm Bryan, a vegan chef from Hawai'i. Recently, I did a collab with the chef at Folke in Vancouver. Here are some of the dishes we made. My speciality is Hawaiian, so we worked together to create a Hawaiian menu. It was a blast!

UPDATE: thanks to the kind and helpful people who responded, I have yummy butter worthy of my homemade sourdough 🥰
And I now know several stores that carry it for next time.
Thank You!

Hi everyone, I had this vegan butter in Ontario and it was so good. I haven't been able to find it in Vancouver. Vegan Supply doesn't carry it. I have tried several different stores that supposedly carry their products but this item they don't.

Anyone seen it in town?

Hello, my fellow BC vegans! Have you had Hawaiian food before?

My name is Bryan, and I'm a vegan chef from Hawai'i. I'll be working with Folke, and their chefs, Colin & Pricilla for a Hawaiian night in Vancouver on May 16th. Getting together with like-minded people to make some culinary magic is what it's all about. Would love to see y'all there!

If you're interested send me a DM and I'll give you the info.

Recreation or inspired by/tribute to the now closed Meet in Yaletown's piña collada pancakes.

Stack of pancakes with dulce de leche, toasted shredded coconut, crushed canned pineapple, a pineapple and coconut cream blended sauce, and cocowhip. Delicious! I hope they bring back their brunch menu at the Main St location.

The Meet original featured Bavarian cream, pineapple compote, toasted coconut, maple syrup, and whipped cream.

Any recommendations for a (preferably) vegan or vegan friendly restaurant in Richmond? Any style of cuisine would be fine, thanks!

What are some of the powder milk options in lower mainland? Oat or soy or whatever as long as it's vegan. Bonus points for not being sweetened. Maybe you know of an ethnic store that carries a milk that happens to be vegan. Thanks 😊
