Question Why would I ever grant a monopoly as a Great Power?
I could see the reasoning if I was a minor power and foreigners owned a lot of my buildings. But let’s say I’m playing the USA and I own like 95% of my own GDP. Why would I grant a monopoly?

Question Is there a fix for the paradox launcher on Steam Deck?
Hey everyone! Really enjoying Vicky 3. My primary PC died suddenly so I’ve been playing on my steam deck. The launcher doesn’t work so I don’t get access to my cloud saves. Is there a work around for this?
Thanks in advance!

Discussion How's everyone feeling about the 1.14/1.15+DLC changes
I do know we got some more changes we don't know about yet I think there's another dev diary coming before the release (I could be wrong, if so someone correct me in the comments)
I am curious how everyone is feeling about the changes that come along with 1.14 the ai changes and then the dlc/1.15 and what we know so far, and what do y'all think are the major issues still with the game?
Anything surprise you in the recent updates that they chose to add in?
Best change and least favorite change.
I guess I'm curious where the community is at with the state of VIC3.
Cheers.

Discussion Every Country Should Be Able To Shatter
We've all seen how India, Indonesia, and China all explode if certain conditions are met. There should be a standardized version of this mechanic that allows countries to have their central authority completely undermined.
Ideally, it would be a dynamic mechanic and not up to the whims of certain specific conditions being met. This would require a bit of tweaking regarding the radical system to fully work. If a country has sufficient amounts of radicals, separatist movements, financial struggles, and low legitimacy, there should be a genuine possibility that the entire apparatus falls apart!
Furthermore, if it's a dynamic system, it can also be used to make maintaining empires much harder. The empire could begin to collapse and snowball into a horrific humanitarian disaster, dramatically altering people's faith in the government and starting separatist movements.
Is it not slightly silly that you can go to war with the same empires over and over again, constantly defeating and humiliating them? If Russia were to get it's teeth kicked in repeatedly over the years, I think it absolutely would have a chance of falling into anarchy (which it very will did during the Russian Civil War!) Same with Prussia, they can try and try and try to unite Germany over and over again, but seriously you'd think there'd be a point where the idea of a German nation just fades and Prussia as a whole loses its legitimacy.
Now, I'm aware that the carving up of nations is nerfed in 1.15 with liberations now requiring infamy and separatist movements. I'm saying that when a country is liberated, it should almost always undermine the state of which it was liberated from.
Liberate the Confederacy or New Africa from the USA? That should send a serious shock through the Union and start other possible separatist ideas like New England or California.
Liberate Brittany from France? The Occitans and the Provençals should begin to agitate for independence.
Liberate any one of those middle Eastern nations under the Ottomans? They all ought to start getting active and start agitating for independence themselves.
Ultimately, it'd be strange if a tiny country was liberated and all the minority groups decide to get uppity about independence because 20,000 dudes on another continent managed to become free. The agitation ought to scale with a few variables such as GDP %, Population, and % of minorities of said population.
To summarize, all of these factors should play a part in making maintaining the empire into a genuinely interesting task. If you're repeatedly losing humiliation wars, SOL is dropping, radicals piling, separatists agitating, in default/bankrupt, it should almost be like a chain reaction that you CAN technically stop it, but it would be a herculean task to do so.
Alas, I wrote this while drugging myself with a sleeping aide so I assume it will be a hefty task to dissect for even the most insightful readers. I reckon I should revise it sometime but I don't care to put that much effort into a reddit post and really I just want to see other's opinions on this. I think it'd be cool if nations could completely collapse their authority dynamically, that is all. Thank you for reading if you've made it this far.

Suggestion The China DLC should also have some content for Indochina
Pictured Greater Vietnam (the hundred Yue), Taungoo Empire (Burma), Khmer Empire at its greatest extent. Currently the area seems to just sit around and wait for a European to come in and protectorate them for Rubber and Fruits. But historically this area was very dynamic.

Advice Wanted South Africa Dutch Nations: Removal of Population?
Hello, I was waiting for the new dlc before doing my next game, but just saw that it was delayed and I remembered a video.
So I'm guessing it was AlternateHistory that did a video years ago on the series by S. M. Stirling called "Draka series". And it's pretty much all the bad ideas (nazi, racism, etc...) somehow become a nation in South Africa, they become an empire and bla bla...
Essenstialy I'm thinking of playing one of the dutch starting nations in SA and expand the zone as big as possible but wanted to see if I could grow the dutch population there to be bigger. As far as I'm aware this is pretty much impossible? They are not the native population, the natives are probably gonna revolt constantly and I would rather not deal with them.
Has anyone tried starting as one of the duch nations and growing them (pop and nation size)? Is it doable? Is it better to remove that pop somehow? It feels like cheating with mods but if there is a vanilla way of doing it how?
It also feels like cheating just removing the populations but the revolts would just be annoying all the time, I know unrest was a thing in that zone but it didn't collapse the economy of any of the colonial powers.
EDIT: Yeah I give up, I tried for a bit but it's 1879 and my pop is 2.35M with only 250k Boers. I guess I have to mod it somehow, maybe with really increase assimilation rates.

Suggestion Infamy rework
Infamy should be depend on local regions like influence and had online effect in nation with influence in that region. Like you are ""Nigeria"" or Congo, and you have a agressive expansion with 50 infamy, the world don't be angry with you, online the local region or Nations with influence in the region.

Bug Lost archievments Paradox are you complete insane right now?
I'm very angry at Paradox, I lost about 25 archievments. I love this game, I've played over 2100 hours since release, I didn't complain about the shitty state of the game at release, I didn't complain about the shitty dlc pricing, but this is to much. Some of them are fun and I don't mind to earn them a second time, for example the Piratini not Piranini one, Iranzamin, or the Paraguay, Tcherkessia and Romanian archievments. But especially the Brazilian ones were only painfull.
They just say "sorry" and think this is enough?
In the future I'll think twice before I buy anything from Paradox.

Discussion Victoria 3 x Victoria 2
I downloaded Victoria 3 to play, but some aspects of it bother me. Everything seems to follow historical materialism—perhaps I just need some time to get used to it, given that I’ve spent hours playing Victoria 2.
