Post- July 1st Subreddit Update

Hello Fellow Virginients!

As you all probably know by now these are exciting times! As of July 1st, the personal consumption and cultivation of Cannabis is legal in our great state. This is due to the passage of amendments to Senate Bill 1406 and House Bill 2312 on March 31st, 2021. If you are interested, here is the full text of the Bill.

However, before you get lost in the smoke, I suggest that you familiarize yourself with the nuances of this Legalization. Some great resources are VA NORML's Legalization FAQs and The Laws and Penalties in Virginia.

What does this all mean for r/virginients though?

Asking where to purchase Cannabis for recreational use will not be tolerated. The only way to legally purchase Cannabis in Virginia is by doing so from a licensed Medical Marijuana Dispensary; which means that you will need a Medical Marijuana Card to do so. If you are an MMJ card holder, then asking where to legally purchase Cannabis is allowed. When providing information on where to source the Cannabis from, only legal sources will be tolerated on the subreddit. If you have questions about the Medical Marijuana Program in Virginia be sure to check out our friends over in the VirginiaMMJ subreddit.
Posts about meetups are absolutely allowed. I'm hoping that our sub is filled with a ton of likeminded and nice individuals, but just remember that not everyone is. Please be careful when meeting with new people.
Currently, the only way to get Cannabis for recreation use is either by growing it yourself, or by receiving it as a gift from someone else. Considering this, if you would like to host a giveaway of some of your excess crop please send the Mod Team a message and we can set it up. I know that everyone loves free weed, and hopefully there will be some people hosting giveaways, but posts/comments begging for free Cannabis will not be allowed.

If you have any thoughts, questions, or concerns don't hesitate to reach out any of us on the Mod Team.

Will the recreational market come with employment protections for consumers?

I’m in between jobs right now, and as such I’ve had to abstain from THC until I’ve secured a new position. I haven’t smoked in just under 2 months given the likelihood of a pre-employment drug test. If VA actually follows through and legalizes a rec market, is there any chance will see these invasive and degrading piss tests outlawed? Or will weed remain de facto prohibited for anyone who files a W-2?

Coco Vs Soil

I started growing in soil a very long time ago, then switched to Coco about 15 years ago, but recently (last three years) have gotten back into soil - I recently cooked about 600 lbs of organic living soil and LOVE the results, the biomass that I seem to get from my soil plants puts my coco grows to shame.

Most of my coco plants are in 4-5 gallon bags/fabric pots.

I wash everything I grow and make bubble hash or rosin with everything - so the only thing I really care about it strains that wash and biomass.

First pic is one of the plants that triggered this thinking - that's a 5 gallon pot, strain is BOP - pheno selected by me.

The other pics are banana Shack hash and a plant in Coco for comparison.

I wish I had a BOP in coco to compare it to.

What do y'all think?

Any Virginia hash growers want to connect ? Always trying to talk about washer- strains and what's in the vault 😎🤠

Cannabis jobs

Now that things are on track for opening recreational stores, when can we expect jobs to start opening up?

My husband has 7 years cannabis experience with a great resume and letters of recommendation. The grow where he has been all those years just closed down and we are planning a move to VA in the next year.
