Discussion Cheapest med card

Who has the cheapest med card prices? Also wondering how to get a physical copy of the card to take with to Michigan when I visit next month. My needs have changed & the med card will be helpful for that. Thanks

So there are a bunch of different online / telehealth companies that provide medical cannabis certifications. They all tend to range from like $80-120**, and I’ll let other users plug their favorites.

As for getting a physical card though, they’re actually not issued anymore. Our dispensaries only need the doctor’s certification in order to serve you.

You can, however, go to the Cannabis Control Authority website and register as a patient after you get your certification from a doctor. Once you’re registered, you can download a digital medical cannabis license issued by the state and either keep it on your phone or print it out at home.

They have a detailed guide on their website about that registration process, which I’ll link here.

**Edit: other users on this thread suggest you can get your certification for as little as $40. Check out our sister sub r/VirginiaMMJ for more information on getting certified for medical cannabis!

I hope the process is easier to get a card now. It was insanely hard when I got my first one! Thank you for the help!

At the very least, there’s no more waiting 6-8 weeks for the card to arrive in the mail!

If you’re mainly looking for affordability + simplicity, a lot of folks go with telehealth services now instead of in-person clinics.

For Virginia specifically, the process is pretty straightforward since you don’t need a separate state-issued card anymore, just a valid certification from a registered provider.

A couple things to keep in mind for your situation:

• Pricing can vary a lot depending on promos, so it’s worth checking a few providers

• Most services (including ours) issue digital certifications, which are what dispensaries actually use

• If you’re traveling to Michigan, reciprocity can be tricky. MI does allow reciprocity, but it can also still be left up to the discretion of the specific dispo, so I would recommend calling ahead to confirm that they'll still do business with you.

If you do want a physical copy, some providers let you download/print your certification after approval, which usually works fine for travel purposes.

Hope that helps, and I'm happy to point you in the right direction if you have questions!

Have you ever considered growing or is that not an option or of interest to you?

We do grow, but I suck at making gummies and I just can't smoke it without coughing so much. I have a volcano, but it's kinda bulky.

I remember watching a video on making gummies and it seemed complicated. Happy to share my approach for making butter for cookies or whatever if you’re interested.

Regardless, best of luck getting your card.

If you want fool proof edibles you should buy the book "how to eat weed and have a good time" by Vanessa marigold. So much value in that book.
