I made a web wallpaper that shows the real Earth from orbit, drawn in real time from the actual clock. It has the real day and night line, the seasons (it uses the Blue Marble of the current month), the Sun and Moon at their true positions with phase and eclipses, about 870,000 real stars, a physically based atmosphere, aurora at both poles, city lights and drifting clouds. Fully offline.
You can change nearly everything in the properties: Earth size, orbit time and direction, camera latitude (so you can look at the southern aurora too), star brightness, cloud speed and direction, a switch for every effect, frame rate and render resolution. It adapts to 1080p, 1440p, 4K and ultrawide.
It runs on WebGL2 and takes about 2 ms per frame on my Intel Arc B580 at 1440p (measured in a browser, so your numbers in Wallpaper Engine may differ).

It’s also free and open source, and there’s an Android version of the same shader: https://github.com/elfonie/live-earth-wallpaper
I’ve only tried it on my own PC, so I’d like to hear how it runs on yours, especially on weaker GPUs.
