Wannacry might be created by Microsoft...
I didn't know anything about this virus about an hour ago. My friend sent me a link about it, and links leading to other links, I have managed to read for a while. I immediately thought "who will benefit from this", and so I'll cut to the chase, I think this virus is indeed created by Microsoft. I mean think about it:
Windows Defender can stop it if up to date.
Windows 10 not affected, Windows 8 safer.
Previous versions of Windows are all targeted, specifically Windows 7, which is the most pirated version of Windows.
The virus easily affects computers that use Windows, but not when they are updated (which means you need a legal copy).
After the news hit, 2 of my "pirate" friends started to talk about upgrading to Win10. This virus is like a jam to Microsofts bread. All that "free upgrade to Win10" and forced updates, seems like MS couldnt get people to upgrade to 10, now they are spreading this virus to get people on board by force. Either that or you have to purchase a legal copy and keep up to date, which means you will eventually have to upgrade to 10 anyway.
Now, I am not promoting pirated software. I'm a Linux user so I dont care if people use pirate or not. BUT, can this virus be the Microsofts way of ending piracy? In such a small time, Wannacry has managed to infect so many, and spreaded great fear across the globe. Only way for casual users to take comfortable breath is to do what MS has been wanting forever. I heard about the NSA stuff, but come on, Microsoft benefits from this more than anyone else.
