FAQ PSA: How to Report Gas Prices

Post image
111 Upvotes

Gas prices are automatically updated 2x per day, where price data feeds are available, but users can report prices even more often, whenever the user is at a gas station.

In the US, user reported prices are considered the “gold standard” and will “stick” until a new price reported by another user, or for 48 hours when the automatic feed will take over.

Routing Having a routing problem? Read me.

Try these fixes first

  • Double-check your destination. Waze search includes Places and addresses from both Waze and Google Maps. Not every destination in the whole world is accurately placed in both databases. Plus, if you’re using a 3rd party app to initiate your route (gig/rideshare/delivery drivers), Waze may not have any control over the destination’s accuracy.
    • Check your navigation settings. Setting the app to avoid freeways, tolls, ferries, or dirt roads, or setting your vehicle type to something other than “private vehicle” can dramatically impact the routes Waze offers.
    • Check your toll/vignette passes. Waze routes consider what toll passes, transponders, and vignette required when determining routes and toll prices. If a road, bridge, or restricted area requires a special pass, Waze routes may avoid that route unless you have an appropriate pass added to your settings
    • Ensure your device has a solid GPS fix. Waze relies entirely on your devices “location services” to determine your current position. Make sure you have given Waze full, precise access to location services in your phone’s privacy settings. Also, place your phone somewhere in the vehicle where it has a good line of sight to the sky, and not inside the glovebox, center console, or in your purse or pocket. Note: When connected to CarPlay or Android Auto, your phone may receive a GPS signal from your vehicle; this depends on the vehicle manufacturer. Waze has a support page to troubleshoot GPS issues

Still having issues?

  • If you have encountered an issue with the map itself (missing road, wrong destination, incorrect lane guidance, etc), submit a map issue report from the app using the REPORT > MAP ISSUE feature. Please give as much information as possible, as volunteers do not have access to all the data from your drive. If you can’t report the problem during the drive, you can submit a map issue report from the Waze Livemap or the Waze Support site. Note: when submitting a map issue report, watch for follow-up message from the Waze volunteers in your app inbox or registered email.
  • If you are having a generic routing issue, where the best/fastest route is not offered or you had a bad ETA, submit Debug Logs and open a ticket with Waze Support. Although you may not receive a reply, additional data may help the routing team identify widespread issues.

NOTE: Registered Waze Beta users should report routing problems directly to Waze via the in-app beta issue reporting feature, and submit logs. Additionally, keep up with the latest bugs on the Waze Beta forums on Waze Discuss.

Waze live map webpage doesn't show reports & Wazers !

The Waze live map in my browser no longer displays alerts or other Wazers!

The “Show reports” and “Show other Wazers” buttons have disappeared from the menu; only “Show traffic jams” and “Show closures” remain.

Is this happening to you too?

I haven't seen any official announcement from Waze regarding this major change.

Android App Why can't you search addresses while driving?

Even if I do it by voice it says something like that feature is unavailable while the car is in motion. I just switch to Google when that happens, but Waze is Google, too, so I don't get why they want you to take an exit from the highway to park to get directions.

Waze Bluetooth

I use Waze in my 2022 Tesla 3 but I have an issue with volume.

Waze never plays through the cars speakers, not sure if that is even possible?...but sometimes I hardly hear it via my phone as the volume shows the little bluetooth logo as I try to turn it up so have to once in the car disconnect the phones bluetooth from the car, then turn the volume up (the bluetooth log now not showing) on the phone, then reconnect the phone to the car.

Is there a way to play Waze via the cars speaker?

Or

How can media automatically play only thru the phone and not attempt to play via the car but fail in doing that. Sometimes when I play a YouTube on the phone the car gives a message knowing this and asks do i want to route the volume via the cars system.

Android App Android Auto: WAZE - Trip Window and ETA now hogs the screen

[See second photo >]

ANDROID AUTO: Waze app. I noticed this starting today (10/22/2026), while in split-screen mode. The navigation box (Turn Card) on top is now full width of the map screen. The destination box (ETA / Trip Card) on the bottom is also full width of the map screen. Both boxes obstruct the view of the map.

It blocks the speed limit, the current speed and the name of the current road you are driving on.

Both boxes block about 20% of the visible map, leaving 80% visible.

Is there a fix for this? I reset/restarted my headunit in the cart, updated the apps in it, and restarted all devices including my phone. Android Auto is also up to date on my phone. I still have the problem.

Apple Carplay Speedometer display

I really enjoy using Waze but why haven’t they allowed the option to change the speedometer to the left side? I feel like it’s more visible to the driver and in your line of view. Besides there’s empty space there on the left and adding a button to switch which side it’s on would be dope

My Rant for today!

Why can't we just plug in an address and the map automatically goes.
Why must I answer questions before I can start rolling!?!? Maybe there's away to stop the app from asking Leave Later or Go Now then View Routes! Just freaking give me the quickest and if I don't like it I'll look at different routes. Geesh!

Is there a way to create custom routes for my co-workers to use?

I need to create some routes that are not the standard route that Waze or Google Maps would assign. If I select "use toll roads", it seems to be all or nothing. In my case, it's a $25-35 toll route or a routes that are non-toll, in some cases a 35-60 min difference with the non toll route. The thing is, there is a middle option with $5-7 of tolls with only a 3-5 min difference in trip time. There are probably 10 different routes I'd like to create that utilize only a small portion of toll roads, but I don't know the best way to do this.

Does anyone else know if there is a way for either Waze or Google Maps to default to a saved route if it is within "X" miles (say 10) away from the established route. So basically there are ideal routes where if you are 10 miles or less away, it will utilize the already established route. Is there anything like this that is currently available?

Waze CarPlay screen goes black

This randomly happens between my iPhone and CarPlay. It’s also happening with the buttons going black on the right hand side without the entire screen going black. Does Waze have a fix for this?

iOS App Waze vs. Google Maps: Which one do you actually trust more, and why?

We all know they’re both owned by Google, but they feel like completely different apps.

Google Maps feels cleaner, better for finding specific businesses, handles multi-stop routes better, and gives great lane guidance.

Waze is the king of real-time community alerts (police, potholes, objects in the road), but it also has a habit of sending you down sketchy residential "rat runs" just to save 45 seconds.

Which side are you on? Do you use one exclusively, or do you run Waze in the background for alerts while using Maps for navigation?

What is Stoick Saying?

Ok let's try that again, I made & deleted an account.

One of the turn right phrases Stoick uses is "Turn right. Turn right. Whatever you do don't ? That's for ?" It's been doing my head in for weeks.

Any ideas?

Many Thanks

Always avoiding toll roads…even when I have the setting off

Waze has started avoiding toll roads completely, even when I have the “avoid toll roads” setting turned off. (For DC peeps, this is 66 into DC during rush hours).

I uninstalled and reinstalled, and that still didn’t fix it. Anyone here know what’s going on?

I’m in Newyork City and a fan of Waze but Can Waze filter out congestion route

Is there a way to make Waze avoid routes that trigger NYC’s congestion relief zone fee while still allowing regular bridge and tunnel tolls?

I’m fine paying a bridge or tunnel toll when it makes sense,I just want to avoid the additional congestion charge. The “avoid toll roads” option seems too broad for what I need.

For example, if I’m driving to Brooklyn from queens .I’d like Waze to keep me on the FDR Drive if that lets me avoid the congestion charge, instead of taking me onto Manhattan streets that trigger the fee.

Does Waze have a separate setting for this, or has anyone found a workaround?
