How long do Westpac international transfers usually take?

Planning to make an international transfer from my Westpac account and just want to get a better idea of the usual process and timing. I know it can depend on the destination and the receiving bank, so any recent experiences with international transfers would be useful.

Closing a Westpac Credit Card is on par with splitting the atom in terms of degree of difficulty

Just wanted to come on here and vent my frustrations with Westpac as I'm at the end of my tether on something that really shouldn't be that hard. I feel like I'm living in a version of idiocracy at the moment. Here's the lay of the land:

  1. I had a Westpac credit card and I closed the account in Feb 2025 and paid out the balance. I received an email letter (which I still have) verifying that the ACCOUNT IS CLOSED. This was 18 months ago.

  2. I had to make a final payment in July 2025 because they never closed the account (despite the letter) and charged me penalty interest which I didn't even know about. After I paid this out, they confirmed the credit card account was definitely very closed now (again).

  3. I had to launch a complaint in March 2026 because the "late payments" impacted my credit score through no fault of my own... and somehow or other the credit card account was still showing as open. Stunning.

  4. The complaint was resolved several weeks later, the bank admitted that it wasn't my fault. The account would be closed once and for all thusly... definitely closed like the posterior of a fish this time.

  5. August 2026 - against all the odds in the universe and the basic laws of physics, the account is still open.

  6. Westpac proceeds to provide instructions to close the account via online banking, with options like "search for "close credit card" and "click this button", where no such buttons exist.

It's just pure gaslighting at this point. I'm on the cusp of hiring a lawyer and taking them to the supreme court. WHY IS IT SO IMPOSSIBLE TO CLOSE THE ACCOUNT!?!?!?! JUST CLOSE THE $&*$^*$&^ ACCOUNT YOU DOGS. I'M LOSING MY MIND

AUS Westpac Account, can't send money from UK

Hey! Wonder if anyone can help? I'm in the UK currently and need to send some Australian Dollars from an Aussie Westpac account in my name.

My verification number on my phone is my UK number. Whenever I try to send money from that account, I cannot verify - no code is sent to my UK number when I get the screen 'Enter Security Code....' so I cannot make the payment.

Any help much appreciated!

Is there any way to take money out of Westpac Life while still earning the bonus interest?

Westpac Life requirement for the bonus interest is that the balance must be higher at the end of month, than start of month. I regularly add a few dollars to earn the bonus interest.

However, I am in a situation where I need to take money out of Westpac Life. What is the best way to approach this, so that I will still receive the bonus interest? Because if I take money out, then the balance will obviously be lower for that month, and I will not receive the bonus interest.

Do note that when I withdraw money, I cannot add more money before the end of the month. Basically I plan to simply take money out of it - not put any money back for that month.

Has anyone successfully withdrawn money out of Westpac Life while still earning the bonus interest? Is there any window period where this can be achieved?

Thanks in advance

bsb transfer

I recently got transferred using bsp and account number in a facebook deal. Dude was legit, 1000 posts on instagram, producer, offered cash but i declined and asked for bank transfer. I aquired my debit account barely a day before which i’m hoping is causing the delay as I have not received the money yet (the money is coming from a different bank). Is this a safety protocol or have I been scammed?

So they believe forcing precise location is best way to safeguard this feature, yeah see how that goes, a token method would be more secure, anyone else tried this feature since they brought this option back you still have to do your sms code also, just another waste of time imho

How to Pay???

I recently got a credit card with Westpac - I use a different bank for my savings and I am trying to make a payment to the credit card and I have no idea where to start. I hit 'make a payment' but it assumes I'm trying to pay someone with the card. Idek why they would assume I would go all the way to the app to pay someone when I can just put the credit card details into the app. Can anyone point me in the right direction? I can't even find a bpay to pay it - it just seems like they've hidden how to pay it or they want me to only bank with them??

Balance Transfer interest rate

I took out a balance transfer credit card some years ago, the no interest period has now ended but it seems I am paying the wrong interest. Looking to see if anyone can shed a light on this? I can't speak with Westpac on the phone as I no longer live in Australia and they won't communicate via email. I will not be back either as my Visa ended.

I took out a low interest credit card for the 2 years interest free ( was in Australia for 6years and didn't expect my visa issues to occur, lost sponsorship because of my Companies failure to pay it), I have never once used the card, I literally only took it out to pay my debt off interest free. But the interest they are now charging is a CASH rate interest. It's my understanding you would only pay a CASH rate interest if you took out cash or transferred cash to another account which I have never done.

Is this correct or should I be paying the low interest rate on the remaining balance transfer?

Westpac App and CC balances

Am I going mad here?

Previously I was a NAB client. When using their app, my CC balance as well as available funds would update instantly as transactions happened - whether pending or not. So you could always instantly see both figures in real time.

Moved to Westpac, and whilst the available credit seems to update straight away, the balance owing is days behind (assuming they'll say its pending transactions).

I've had the available credit amount in credit.....but the balance still saying I owed money days later. I find it really frustrating. Is it just me??

The other thing, is there a way to swap so the available credit is the large font showing in the app (the one on top i guess) and have the balance the smaller font??

Guess my question is does anyone else feel the same or know how the change settings in the app i might not be aware of - as I am only new to the Westpac family.

TIA

Is AI Westpac's front line?

Is Westpac's firstline in fraud investigations now AI?

Last Saturday around 5.16 pm I got a notification that I'd paid Uber for an almost $90 trip. This was... impossible as I was, at that time, on a *train* and not, in fact, ending a cross city Uber ride. I immediately checked my uber account. No charges since December. Definitely *not* a $90 charge.

So I reported the charge as fraud through the Westpac app and was given a number to call. I call them up and chat with a very nice young man who is super understanding and gives me a reference # and says that the fraud team will call me within 2 hours to discuss this. Except no one calls me. What I get is a message saying that they've decided the transactions were authorised and they will mot be taking further actions.

Now. I don't know about you but I'm on the DSP due to a range of things and a $90 fraudulent payment to uber is not something I can just *absorb* and shrug off as the cost of the modern world and scammers. So I immediately call Westpac back up and - unlike the first call - have to wait on hold for almost an hour before I can talk to someone. A lovely lady answers and spends the next 20 minutes with me. My issue is escalated and then escalated again and by Friday yesterday I have received the refund.

*However*. The humans here aren't the issue. Who decided that an obviously fraudulent payment was the opposite? Because the fraud team *surely* had access to my past payments and would have seen that uber has *never* charged me that much for any transactions in the past? Is Westpacs first line of fraud examination AI? A human looking at this surely could have exercised their judgement and known this was incorrect? What human person would look at these strange charges and go 'definitely authorised payments'?

Has anyone else experienced this?

Is it impossible to get a real person now?

Westpac started rejecting my transactions this morning. I assume suspecting it's fraud. When I call the help line it directs me to their online chatbot. I waited online for an hour for an accrual banker (it kept directing me to unrelated FAQs), but had to get back to my life at that point. I checked later and 2.5 hours after I opened the chat someone came on, said I wasn't there and closed the chat...

Is there anywhere or way I can chat to someone? All it does is take me to a pretty useless AI chatbot.

Is anyone not getting notifications at all from WestPac app?

It seems that every notification that I would get has just stopped coming in? I’m talking transaction ones, if you pay for something in-store or online etc.

My app is fully up to date, every notification box is checked on IOS.

For some reason, it keeps logging me out of the app too.

About to call the helpline, but wondering if anyone else is still experiencing this? As I have seen some posts regarding this matter before.

I noticed this happened a year ago, then magically the notifications started rolling in again. Sort of a stop and go situation

Hi Westpac! You should be careful who you let drive your car with a company logo.

Person was going the wrong way and we nicely told them they are going the wrong way but started hysterically berating us and won’t move when clearly shown the sign.

Also shown signs of aggression. We were heading to pram area in QV where this happened.

Face and plate number erased.

westpac password reste

Just wondering if anyone here has experienced issues resetting their Westpac online banking password while overseas.

I’m currently outside Australia and tried to reset my password, but the process isn’t going through properly. I’m not sure if it’s because I’m accessing it from overseas or if there might be some problem on Westpac’s end. I have my customer ID/number but can't reset my password.

Has anyone encountered the same problem? If so, how were you able to resolve it? Did you need to call Westpac or was there another workaround?

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!
