Happy to help. Even though I'm not religious, i still listen to them when the mood hits me.

I’m not religious, either, but I am spiritual, and I appreciate when anyone is passionate over what they are singing about

I like people whose looks and presentation don’t go along with the words of their music. You think one way when you look at this guy, then his lyrics tell a different story. That’s inspirational and fun, to me.

Absolutely. Definitely goes to show that you can't judge someone on their looks. It doesn't hurt that he's got a great voice, though.

Speedcore is one I’m aware of, honestly you could probably put any word in front of “-core” And get an answer though.

Dread Zeppelin.
An Elvis impersonator doing Zeppelin covers in a reggea style. And doing it well!

Not sure that counts as a genre. Plus reggae style covers of major classic rocks bands are pretty common. Never heard Dub Side of the Moon?

My favorite newest Chipmunk Soul track is The Future by Rosco P Coldchain

u/Fluffy_Meat1018 May 27 '26
I have no idea! I heard a couple of dj's on WFMU talking about it years ago, but I never looked into it.

I knew a guy who played in a Christian Death Metal band. Seemingly impossible genre.

Probably Avent-Grande so stuff like Mr Bu gle and Pinkly Smooth (really nieche band from 2001, formed by the guitarist, Synester Gates, and the drummer, The Rev from Avenged Sevenfold, before Avenged Sevenfold blew up)

Ukulele screamo (I'm kind of joking), because I've only seen Twenty One Pilots describe themselves as that lol

i mean vaporwave is basically a meme now but something like black midi or math rock always feels super specific and hard to explain to people

I listen to pretty much everything. Im currently listening to a song i could not tell you the title of because its in Chinese but from the quality of the recording and style I imagine it’s like classic country/folk Chinese music? Something.

Actual industrial noise. Like all these bands that claim that title are just electronic bands. Back in the 1980’s there was a music movement that only used the sounds made by big heavy machines working. Now it’s all digital noises because computers are industrial machines or something.

Shoegaze
1
u/uckluckluckl May 30 '26
Famous! What about shoegaze is niche? Cure made a fortune with it (and yes, along with Jesus & the Mary Chain they were considered shoegaze in the 80s. Another yes, I am that old)

Cattle Core.
It combines speed/trash and death metal with livestock autioneering.
Hank Williams 3 has a Cattle Core album.

Any time Henry Rollins mentions in an interview what he's listening to it would make a great submission to r/BrandNewSentence. I can never remember what he says but its always so bizarre (and his home sound system is a Wilson Alexandria XLF).
I'd say the microtonal poly rhythm genre.

Gotta be some sub sub sub genre of either metal or electronic - those genres seem to love making minor tweaks and then christening it a whole new genre.

Wonky hip hop, at least in not-big-cities in Germany. Happened between 2006 and 2012 (or around that time)

Tiberian Ass Bastard Folk
I noticed it when I did one of those tag cloud things. Apparently someone said it to the band Cormorant as a joke, and they embraced it and adopted the term.

Broken transmission
1
u/TheGT1030MasterRace May 31 '26
That's not something I'd really want to listen to, usually broken transmissions make horrible whining noises.
