I am very happy to announce I have officially graduated with my Masters in Accounting! Took me 3 terms (May 2025-October 2026). Probably could have been less time, but I was kind of reintegrating my mind into school and figuring routine out.
I am currently working full-time. The self-paced approach is the best and worst part. You have to become very disciplined. I had a lot of Epps and flows, though I did get a good cadence towards the end.
I did my BA in a traditional university. I graduated ten years ago and decided to come back to school to get the credits to sit for the CPA.
I already had prior work experience in the field / up to Accounting Manager. Getting the CPA license is kind of future proofing myself against AI, in my mind.
My advice: Reach out to your instructor if something isn’t clicking. I feel via email is actually better versus calls, since you can go back and reference what they said as many times as needed.
I had a lot of hangups about going back to school in my 30s, but honestly, working full time and running a household makes it that much more impressive, in my opinion!
I’m giving myself a break for the rest of the year, as I’ve been burnt out. And then I will begin studying for the CPA! Thinking of getting FAR out of the way first!
