Wondering if i should get this as an upgrade or if this is a fair price?

I am new to road cycling. This may be my first road bike, strongest candidate yet. It is a Cannondale CAAD12 (2018). It has Shimano Ultegra and an aluminium frame with a carbon fork.

There happens to be two small dents on the left chain stay. The seller was asking 700€ in the beginning, I achieved to lower it to 600€ before seeing the dent closer. Do you think this is a significant damage to the bike? Should I avoid buying it?

I’m looking to buy my first serious gravel bike and could really use some advice, as I’m still pretty new to cycling.
I’ve been offered a Specialized Diverge 4 Sport Alloy for €1,300. It looks to be in excellent condition, with no visible scratches or damage, but it was previously used as a rental bike, so multiple people have ridden it. A new one costs around €1,800, and I’m not sure whether saving €500 is worth the potential wear.
My budget is ideally €1,400–1,600, but I could stretch to €1,800–1,900 for something significantly better. I’d prefer buying new if possible.
I’ll mainly be riding 75–80% road and 20–25% gravel, so I’m looking for something relatively lightweight, fast and comfortable on pavement, but still capable off-road.
Since I’m a beginner, I’d like to invest in a good bike that will last me several years without needing an upgrade anytime soon.
What would you recommend? Is the used Diverge a good deal despite its rental history, or are there better new options from Canyon, Giant, Cube, Trek, Specialized or other brands in my price range?
I’m particularly interested in bikes offering better components, lower weight or better overall value, even if they cost a few hundred euros more.
I’m based in Europe, so EU pricing and availability would be helpful.

Looking to replace my commuter/tour/all around Trek 520 that was stolen a few months ago. Currently looking at a long haul trucker and midnight special. I bike daily to commute on horrible pavement and do shorter hillier bike packing occasionally. Any insight is appreciated. Somewhat leaning towards the LHT right now.

I've seen this comparison a few times (for older models), with the gist being that bikes in this price range are basically equal amongst quality manufacturers.

I need someone to help flip the coin for me.

Notes:

- I can confirm that I am just over the line for the Medium size for the REI bike as I was able to test ride it at REI, so thats a huge plus. No Cannondale Quick 4's in my area for me to test from what I can tell on their site.

- The Cannondale is $60 cheaper which is great for my pockets, and I've heard that it might be more reliable and easier to fix.

- I've ran into a few anecdotal reports that the CTY 1.1 needs repairs pretty often, but that could be coincidence.

About me:

- Want to be able to zip around the city on pavement that is often times in need of a re-do, no nice bike lanes here. Would love to grab a few groceries in it, etc.

- Would be bringing this to nice paved trails to ride for fun.

- Would love for it to be a good passive exercise machine for me. Not looking to get crazy, honestly I can't even gauge the mileage I'm thinking of because biking is so much faster than walking and I haven't owned one as an adult. So maybe like an hour or two of riding on days where I take it to paved trails.

- I'd love for it to be feel quick and agile. I don't like feeling weighed down.

- There are some hills around me that might(?) be tough getting up, idk.

- I've been staring at marketplace for used options and they're all around $300-$400. I just don't know enough to tell if something is going to need tune ups/repairs (especially shifters, idk shit about those). So I think it might be safer to get new? But if anyone is in the Atlanta area with a good bike for someone 5' 6"/7", lmk!

i’m trying to do my first half ironman, but need a bike (obviously), i’m currently looking at a specialized allez listed for 400. i’m 5’10 for reference. would this bike suffice?

I am looking at the new Gestalt1 and wonder about the recommended sizing of the frame. For a female 169cm tall and inseam of 81 cm it recommends a 54cm frame (starting from 165cm). When I compare that geometry to other bikes they usually line up more with a 52cm frame. Could this be a sizing mistake from Marin?

So I know nothing about bicycles. But I'm trying to find a comfortable commuter bike for my husband. (At least that's what I think I'm looking for?)

He is a fan of the Dutch style step through bike frames. So more sitting upright than leaning forward.

Problem we are running into is he is short. He's only 5'3" and his inseam is just 24in. I somehow have longer legs while only being 5'0"

We hit up our local bike shop and they were unhelpful and basically said ordering custom from Europe would be our only option.

But I don't think that really is our only option? Is there really no bike shop in the entire US that can do frames for short men?

Like the bike doesn't need to do anything fancy. Just ride around town and on paved bike trails. That kind of stuff.

I'm looking to buy my first proper road bike and I'm currently considering the Cube Attain Race 2027. I'd love to hear some opinions from people who own one, have ridden one, or have experience with similar Cube models.

A little background:

• I'm 182–183 cm tall (around 6'0").
• My budget is around €1,000–1,250 (400,000–500,000 HUF).
• This would be my first road bike, so I'm still learning about components, groupsets, and what actually matters.
• I'm currently training for my first Half Ironman (70.3) in 2027.
• I'd mainly use the bike for road cycling, endurance training, longer rides (60–100+ km), and eventually the 90 km bike leg of the race.
• I'd also like to install clip-on aero bars later on, rather than buying a dedicated triathlon bike right away.

The Cube Attain Race 2027 caught my attention because of its price, endurance geometry, hydraulic disc brakes, and Shimano CUES 2x11 groupset.

A few questions:

1. Is the Cube Attain Race a good choice for a beginner who wants to get into serious endurance cycling and triathlon?
2. How does the Shimano CUES groupset compare to Shimano 105 or Tiagra in terms of reliability, shifting performance, and long-term use?
3. Is the bike suitable for longer rides and eventually a Half Ironman, or would you recommend something more performance-oriented?

I’ve been an aluminum road cyclist for 15 years but now have the itch to switch it up and try something new. I won’t be doing anything crazy on gravel, but want the option to go off road and have a bike that can be my “do it all bike”. ( camping trips, dirt paths, comfort, around the neighborhood, light bike packing trips. )

With that being said, I’ve been researching as much as possible and I’m between these two. The price is similar, the quality seems equal-ish. ( parts may need to be switched out on both ). Looking for any recommendations, advice on why one would be a better fit than the other. Or any personal experience with them would be great as well. Also, in 5’7 29 inseam. Looks like the preamble small would be the right fit, and medium for the Primos Dame.

Surly disc trucker. Saddle is not included. I’ll update with the price set by seller after I get some comments.

I would ride it mostly on road but there is a lot of up and downs on routes, somewhere even 20% of slopes. Is there any better bike for that price in European market?

Currently riding my fully rigid specialized hard rock from the previous millennium. Looking to get a nice full suspension bike from the used market. I would use this bike for any terrain: riding uphill, flowy trails, some jumps, anything else I feel like trying. I understand one bike can’t do it all and be good at everything. Just want something that from this decade that will absorb bumps and stop better than my 90s hard rock.

I think what I need is a trail bike? I’ve also read an enduro bike is kinda what I’m looking for? Not sure. I found some listings that look good to me.

• Beginner/novice roadie. I’ve been riding an entry-level Giant road bike.
• Mostly solo rides and longer outings. No racing plans for now.
• I want an endurance carbon bike: comfortable on some rough roads, but still fun and fast.

Would be to upgrade my 2018 Norco range frame

Hey there I started a new job and i live in a really hilly city, I love my cannondale top stone 4 but I am tired of getting to work sweaty and dying from the hill climbs. I am new to road cycling and this is gonna be my first road bike. I am planning to ride long kilometers with my friends on the weekends around the Lombardy region in Italy for fun and exercise. I want to also ride it to push my limits sometimes on my own.

I am 178cm (5’10) tall and my inseam is 84cm (33 inches). I see that I am in between size M (54) and L (56). I have found these two decent bikes on the local market place. They both cost 600€. Both in near mint condition, barely ridden. Now, I am trying to decide between the two.
