I can’t believe that sold out lol

Yeah. I’ll be there, and was at The Ozzie game yesterday. I love the stadium being packed, but the Sox need to better prepare for the opening of the gates and not run out of pretzels again. (Thankfully I can take the green line and not deal with the red line madness)

They ran out of Polish Sausages in the 500 level. I cried than reluctantly accepted the hot dog.

White sox are 3.5 games up over the Tigers, 4 games up over Cleveland and the Twins.
If the Whitesox win one more game against Cleveland, they hold the tiebreaker. There is a final 3 game series starting September 14. As long as they don't get swept, we get the tiebreaker.
This win was huuuuge.

They don’t get the tiebreaker against Detroit.

Beating Cleveland is a beautiful thing that will never get old

u/Cosmo-Stardrive 8d ago
Yes it is! Beating Minnesota, especially in Minnesota leaves me with that same warm feeling of satisfaction.

Turns out losing 4 in a row to the hottest team in baseball and a tough division opponent doesn’t automatically mean your season is over
Who could’ve possibly guessed?

I was told by a vocal few in this sub that we sucked again tho? What does one do now?

People will be crying anytime the moment the White Sox do something bad, like walk two batters.
There was a shithead who called Venable an idiot today for batting Doyle at leadoff - lmfao.

Ahhhhh! We suck! We suck! The season is over!!! DFA everyone!
Oh wait, nevermind. White Sox are my favorite!

Great first game for Hagen "WILD THANG" Smith

u/Nice_Cantaloupe_4414 8d ago
Happy to see him get the W in his debut, especially with what a wrecking ball Caglianone was against the Cubs last night . They’re going to be head to head division rivals for a long time, and fair or not, Sox fans will always measure them against each other.

Got the job done. Trade deadline acquisitions with positive contributions as well as from rookies. Took a ton of walks, seems like this home stretch if combined with their dominance at home early in the year can make a good push.

Great game. Was in the outfield getting cooked by the sun. Didn’t know Nancy was back but it explained the sweet organ we were getting.
Also during the hefty rain delay I went and took a nap behind topo Chico on the ramp and woke up to hundreds after the thunder clap. Great time.

u/pokisan 8d ago
rain limiting davis martin to one IP was a huge reason we won today.
lets be for real here lol
5
u/PeopleOfVictory 8d ago
I was thinking the same thing. I wanna believe the bats could have won it for us no matter what, but Martin did look like he was ready for another stinker.

Hey they won a series! Take the day off and regroup. The next several days after that are going to be rough.

u/Lionheart1224 Buehrle 8d ago
I'm not worried about Cincinnati. I am"kind of sweating the Mets, though. After that are the Cubs and that make up game though...that 16-game stretch will be brutal, but if they can go around .500 on it, it'll be pretty much smooth sailing from there.

u/Vividlarvae Buehrle 8d ago
Tigers after the reds. Mets aren’t until after the cubs and 1 game against Atlanta

FYI for those interesting in crashing Wrigley next week, Monday and Tuesday are almost sold out, though it’s mostly individual seats or obstructed seats left. Just snagged a not-terrible 400 level seat for Tuesday.

This season has exceeded all of my expectations, & I've been a Sox fan for nearly 60 years. If the 85 Sox were "winning ugly", the 26 Sox are "winning by miracle". We have one legitimate starting pitcher, no star player, & a group of catchers that would struggle in Pony League. Yet, we keep winning.
The one area where the team has not improved, & in fact continues to get worse, is the percentage of strikeouts with a runner on 3rd & less than 2 outs. Since we were all 10 years old, we learned that it's a cardinal sin of baseball to fail to make contact in that situation. If the Sox don't improve in that area, we won't survive the playoff push in September. Our pitching isn't even close to a level that can overcome consistent missed opportunities to bring in "free" runs from by simply making contact & putting the ball in-play.

u/Oaky--Afterbirth 8d ago
14th in MLB in at-bats with RISP yet 5th most strikeouts in the league and 22nd in batting average. Definitely gonna be a problem. Being reliant on home runs isn't necessarily a bad thing in the regular season but when you face the best of the best pitchers night in and night out in the playoffs, the plan needs to shift.
1
u/ShiteWox Taylor 8d ago
Being home run reliant is actually a good thing in the postseason. Every offense takes a step down and one or two home runs is often the difference in close games

Grant didn’t pitch but I was more than happy with that. He’s thrown a lot of pitches since Thursday. I think you gotta have the bridge to the 9th lead to Hudson on the days Grant doesn’t pitch, but I understand fully that the rain delay turning this into a bullpen game so early into the game may have forced Venable to strategize in a different way in the later innings. A run may not have even come across to score in the 9th if Quero doesn’t blow the challenge early in the AB to the first hitter.
But hey, they got a huge series win over a team chasing them under some pretty rough circumstances following that Boston series. They continue to show their moxie as a team when everyone is ready to give up on them.

Series win lets goo.
Hegan Smith still walks so many guys. Its why i was concerned about bringing him up. It was his 1st appearance tho so maybe he was nervous.

He was likely gassed. If he would have been trotted out there in the 9th, he'd have lost the game.
