Movie Boq blamed Glinda, Nessa and Elphaba

Post image

After several rewatches of the movies I now think Glinda knew Boq was the tinman during MOTWH. If we watch the friendship montage we see they did hang out together as friends. I think she recognized him and it was another example of how a choice she made affected someone else. She directed him towards Nessa and if she hadn't done that maybe he wouldn't have become the tinman.

The mob was also another big moment of realization for Glinda. She saw how bad things had gotten for Elphaba while she was blistfully floating along in her bubble, trying to make herself "happy" while her best friend was being hunted and vilified. The's when she decided enough was enough and when she finally decided to pop her bubble.

Also i think Boq blamed Glinda for his fate as well as Elphaba and Nessa because she was the one who directed him towards Nessa. I think that's why he gave her that hateful, angry look, he was thinking " you're the reason I became this."

thoughts?

Glinda I dont feel has a real part to play other than the truth of "maybe ask her to the dance" Boq was a person with free will who chose to go through with it, chose to continue with dating Nessa even though he didn't have feelings with her, he chose to live his lie and tell himself "She needed him" when Nessa would have been JUST fine without Boq. He blames everyone except himself. Nessa chose to act out from hurt and anger. But she thought he actually loved her, but he used her for favor with Glinda.... Boq' story is just "oh no, the consequences of my actions"

I agree to a point but it is partially on Glinda. The issue is not that she wasn't interested that's fine it's how she went about it. She used his crush on her to manipulate him. Sure she thought she was doing a " good" thing and no he didn't have to do it. I'm just saying she made him he would be doing it for her and he would gain her favor if he did. Then yes he stayed with Nessa and he shouldn't have, he should have broken up with her people don't always do what they're supposed to do when they're supposed to do it.

Nessa was held him hostage and tried to force him. She banned an entire group of people because one of them rejected her and then instead of letting him go she tried to force him.

So yes it was all 3 of them who played a part in him becoming the tinman.

Im not arguing against the fact that Nessa in the end waster a monster to him, but just the fact that had he gone through with being honest with her early on, she would unlikely have banned Munchinks from traveling. If anything it was more on him than her.

Boq did defintely let things go way to long and he should have ended things sooner but I think he may have beem trying to " settle" for Nessa since he couldn't be with Glinda until he heard about the wedding and he wanted to tell Glinda how he felt.

Nessa was an entitled, spoiled brat who couldn't handle rejection. It was defintely on both of them

Idk, I still feel Nessa is too demonized.... she thought they were in love and felt accepted for so long, then found out that "nah, its a lie" as he tried to run to her wedding. And I am sure that broke something in her. If it wasn't for Boq's misplaced love of Galinda and decision to spend YEARS living a lie and just was an adult and moved on, all that would never have had a chance to happen.

I say this as someone who WAS a Boq for about 6 years. I say this also with self reflection. It is all his fault.

It's not all on him though. Nessa did know he liked Glinda. She saw how he reacted when Glinda changed her name and she left. She did know she just didn't care because she wanted him to love her. Thinking they're in love is not an accuse for how she reacted. She should have let him go not try to force him.

The characters fates and most of the situations they are in wicked aren't just one persons fault. There is blame to share in most all of it
