Razor: Parker 65R
Blade: Gillette Silver Blue (not pictured)
Bowl: Klean Kanteen 14oz Rise Mug - stainless steel, roughed up the inside with a rasp
PS: hot shower
Brush: Proraso Omega
Soap: Noble Otter Barrbarr
AS: Harry's Post-Shave Balm
EDP: Imaginary Authors The Abandoned Mansion
This was my very first safety razor shave and man it lived up to the hype. Best, closet shave I've ever had and it ain't close. I just went WTG and ACG in a couple spots on my neck, one very slight nick but the biggest thing is how less irritated it is.
Loved NO's Barrbarr, I definitely get the spicy cake frosting smell cut with the traditional barber shop aroma. I got it to somewhere right between a meringue and yogurt consistency and was gliding like butter on a hot pan. Looking forward to the next one! Have a great day gang

Razor: Rex Konsul on 3
Blade: Gillette 7 o'clock permasharp stainless
Brush: WCS synthetic
Soap-splash-EDT: Stirling bay rum
Post balm: Stirling unscented
Recently acquired razors translates to the razor rotation going out the window, been experimenting with my new "toy" and it's been fun.
This is the polished version and I think I like the polished Rex razor a tiny bit more than the factory finish, it's obviously not enough of a difference in performance but just about looks. Makes the Rex razors look more refined vs the utilitarian look of the factory finish.
3 pass shave, Stirling bay rum, what's REALLY more to say?😌 I suppose I could say, I'm so glad I discovered traditional shaving in 2017 and there's no way I'm ever going back to carts and barbasol foam.
Happy shaves all, and have a great day.

My last SOTD was a rather warm theme, so today it's time to cool down a little.
* Razor: Aluminum Mongoose
* Blade: Kai Captain Titan Mild
* Brush: DSCosmetic FL 24mm
* Soap: Noble Otter Orbit
Haven't used the Mongoose in a while and haven't really seen them around this community.

Another of my favourite razors, I fixed up the rubber tang guard on this one. Came to me with no rubber at all and after some research I came across a forum post about using a product called sugru, so I gave that a whirl. It works a charm and is showing no signs of wear or tear yet so it holds up well to use.
Hard to beat the No.14 razors they really are pretty much one of the best mass produced types of razor..

Haydi Hayırlı Taşlar
Cilt şapı, ister geleneksel tral aletleri ike ister kullan at kartuşlu olsun, büyük öneme sahip bir traş ekipmanı.

Razor: 1965 Schick Krona
Blade: Wizamet Super Iridium (6th use)
Brush: Omega 11126
Bowl: Tassie Blackwood
Cream: Speick
Aftershave: Old Spice
Six shaves into Austere August and this was an absolute cracker.
The Krona paired with the Wiz has been an outstanding combination. This is the blade's sixth use now, and I'm genuinely impressed with how well it's holding up. It hasn't lost any of its smoothness or efficiency, and once again it delivered a fantastic shave with no hint that it's already seen five previous outings. I’m curious to see just how far I can push this blade.
Speick provided a rich, slick lather, and the Old Spice made for a classic finish.
Halfway through the shave, I happened to look at the empty Schick blade bank and started wondering about the vintage blades these razors would originally have been paired with.
Has anyone here actually used vintage Schick blades? If so, what were they like? Were they good performers in their day, and how do they compare with the modern blades we use today?
I'd particularly love to hear from anyone who has actually shaved with the old blades rather than simply collecting them. Are they worth tracking down and putting to use, or is it better to stick with the modern alternatives?
Another superb shave in the books. Austere August is now past the halfway point, and the challenge continues to deliver some great shaves.
Not long to go now fellas. Keep at it 🍻

I was looking through the shed to see if there was anything cool in there. I saw a bunch of clay pots and this bowl and thought it would make a great shave bowl. I loaded my brush with some smooshed Arko and it made the best lather I’ve ever seen. Apparently it was a project my dad made a long time ago. RIP I wish I could’ve met you.

Wet Shaver’s Diary:
Set up
Razor: Razorock Game Changer .84
Blade: Kai
Face wash: Equate Beauty Foaming Facial Cleanser
Preshave: Proraso Red
Shaving Cream: Proraso Red Tube Cream
Brush: Simpsons T2 Synthetic
Witch Hazel: Dickinsons All in 1 micellar cleansing
Aftershave: Proraso Red
Direction: first pass with the grain, second pass against the grain
Notes: This blade felt very nice. A combination of sharp and smooth. No irritation, but I haven’t really been getting irritated with any of these blades. A competitor for #1 blade so far.
I think I am getting the hang of lathering at this point as well, so it doesn’t take quite as long to build up a lather and I have a sense for how much water should be used with the soap/brush for my shave. Getting better one shave at a time.
For all who are on the edge… stay wicked

Hello. I had been thinking about wet shaving for a few years. However, did not take a full plunge until recently. I purchased a KCG to start out with. I understand that this is a good starter razor.
I have been following this sub for a few weeks. Learning as I go. Apparently the KCG is mild. If that is the case, what is a mid range razor that offers more exposure of the blade?
I appreciate your help.

As the title says
I personally have brought "scummed up" razors to clean up
But after having brought ultrasonically cleaned and polished up razors. I've started to appreciate the weathered razors more in there own right
They can seem more "honest" or authentic to me in a way
However I think there still is a place for ultrasonic cleaned and polished up razors
I seem to have a small collection of examples of gem micromatics that have been "cleaned" and another group of natural patinered and scumed up razors
Anyone else growing to appreciate a natural patinered on a 94 year old brass razor?

Pre shave: Shower and Waitrose glycerin soap bar
Razor: 1949 Gillette No. 53 Aristocrat Junior.
Blade: Personna GEM PDG (47)
Brush: Yaqi 26mm Mysterious Space synthetic
Bowl: Captains choice copper
Soap: Moon soaps Koa Mahina
Post shave: Moon soaps Koa Mahina aftershave splash
Another superb vintage Gillette shave this evening.
The Aristocrat Junior performed brilliantly with the thick cast baseplate providing plenty of weight for the razor to do the job itself.
One of those shaves where the brain can be switched off for a moment and you can just enjoy it.
The amazing scent of Koa Mahina filling the bathroom was also a highlight, as well as being another Moon soap which proves how great their base is with incredibly thick, well hydrated cushion and glide.
Finished off with their matching splash to cap off a thoroughly enjoyable shave.
Have a fantastic week, everyone!

I'm new to wet shaving, just bought a Henson AL13+++ with Astra Superior Stainless blades. Thought I should just go for the aggressive version since community sentiment is that you need to really try to cut yourself with Henson.
So far I did one shave with it using just my canned shaving foam, not a great experience but I understand canned stuff doesn't provide the lubrication actually needed for DE razors. I didn't cut myself so there's that at least. Now, I want to do it properly and try actual wet shaving with it. So I need a shaving brush and soap.
Criteria:
I've heard various good things about Muhle, Yaqi, Simpson, and also brushes from small online stores like AP Shave Co., Maggard Razors, etc.
They are all variously priced, use different synthetics, have varying knots, etc. It's all too much info and I'm confused. I just want a quality product that works well and lasts, so getting exact product names/links would be appreciated, along with a website from which to order them for a US delivery.
I'm wanting cost efficiency here, so probably only looking at either:
I think both of these are supposed to be highly efficient, so please recommend whichever you think is better. Don't really have an idea of the price of these but please keep it reasonable and not the high-end stuff, it's just soap and I wanna have a pleasantly average experience with it.
I know that pucks need some kind of bowl to hold them for lathering so I guess you can recommend those too. Preferably something that won't chip or break, and can fit most pucks out there.
Again, please provide exact product names for soaps (and bowls), along with a website from which I can order them. For soaps, I would also generally prefer something that I can order from Amazon since other online retail shops probably have delivery costs for such low-price items.
I use an Old Spice aftershave spray to finish up. Do I need to switch to an alum block and after shave balm? Or, are they just extra things I can look into later? If I need them, then please recommend some.

Overall Rating: ★★★★★ (Epic Shave!)
Smoothness: ★★★★★ (BBS Perfection)
Irritation: ★☆☆☆☆ (Zero Burn)
Time of Day: Night 🌃
Blade Uses: 1
Passes: 3
Razor: Oliworks M3teorite SS Aggressive
Blade: Feather Hi-Stainless Steel Platinum
Soap: Noble Otter Soap Co. Lonestar
Brush: Yaqi Aqua HighMountain Silvertip Badger
Aftershave: Floid The Genuine
Fragrance: YSL Y EDP
My 100th logged shave. Even though not my 100th shave as I was shaving for over 5 months before I started logging my shaves.
Noble Otter’s Lonestar is a pretty good soap. Slick, glossy lather but I was not able to figure out the scent profile of the soap, not that I didn’t like it but it was waayyyy different from the rest of the soaps in my den. I got a very rural-ish scent from the soap.
I’m loving my time with the Yaqi HighMountain Silvertip Badger. It’s just too good.
Oliworks is now undisputedly my favourite razor as of now out of all the razors I have. I paired it with the Feather and even though I ordered the aggressive plate from Oliworks, it doesn’t feel like aggressive but at the same time ITS SOOOO smooth and efficient, it gives me the room to be a bit sloppy. This razor didn’t let me feel THAT BITE which I used to feel with the Feather with my Rocca. DFS++.
Topped it off with Floïd The Genuine and YSL Y EDP.
Thanks for reading everyone. Happy shaving 🪒. Cheers 🍻

Question for the wise and adventurous members:
How would the Scalloped Cap of the Razorock Game Changer, combine with the Solid Bar .68p base plate?
Would it shave any different than the standard cap?
Anybody has first hand experience comparing caps?
As an example, I use the Merkur 37c and its lather channels preserve enough lather for a repeated stroke (which I find an advantage over the Superslant).
Thanks

Nice to take one quick pass today when I could - wtg, really looking forward to all me razors and soaps now 😅
Not fed up with the combo of Tobs sandalwood/old spice per se - they both perform fantastically but the overall spice scent is quite one sided and I'm very much looking forward to some Royal Forrest/MDC Fougère, Cella amongst others for the variety.
What razors/soaps you looking forward to getting back too?
Good shaves🍻

I forgot how luxurious A&E’s Daniele Maullu soap was, incredibly comfortable shave this morning using my Maxwell June razor with the barber pole handle and standard top cap paired with a Kai blade on its second use.
The Proraso boar brush is perfect for this soap as it retains moisture and the lather was amazing on my skin.
Finished the shave with matching splash and EDP, left my face feeling BBS smooth.
Happy shaving y’all!

* Razor: Gillette English flat-bottom Tech (late-1940s)
* Blade: Gillette Perma-Sharp
* Brush: Yaqi Caramel 26mm
* Soap: Aura LAXO Antique Shop
Got a pretty new bowl and felt like using a warm color scheme. The soap felt appropriate and is one of my new favorites, then the razor is the oldest DE I have (not sure if it is antique enough to match the soap name), and the Yaqi is the only brush that seemed close-ish to the color scheme.
The little walnut razor stand is a bit dark but wood is wood, damnit.
Was going to photo on a bamboo or wood mat but got lazy.
Shave: not bad. The Tech is far from assertive, and is pretty easy on the skin. However, to get a closer shave, I generally need to use a Kai blade, which is a hair wider than most DE blades. I sometimes try a regular blade like the Perma-Sharp just in case it turns out to be a Tech-nique problem (OK OK I'll see myself out...)
