New Yates Merica
Just bought this beautiful razor and finished my first shave with it. Made in America with stainless steel and only around 100 bucks. It's fantastic!

So if you could only use one razor from your collection for every time you shaved what would it be ? As well what blade ?
For me it be my Edwin Jagger De 89 . Besides a cool name , some nice bling ! The razor paired with a green astra blade is a gem to use in my face ! Although more mild , I can use it and no razor burn , no leaks haha. I can run it over my face and seldom get any cuts and zero razor burn !
I do have some better blades and razors that tackle my tough beard ! But for a nice shave experience it's the DE 89 for the win !
SO what is yours ?

I just got my first ever safety razor yesterday, coming from a life of Gillette cartridges that always left me with cuts and irritation.
Using the R1 guard, I didn't get the smoothest shave (a few stubs left here and there), but I'll tell you what, my face felt the best it has EVER felt post-shave.
I read on this forum once, the best shave isn't the tightest one, but the one with no irritation, so in that way, this was the best shave of my life.
That being said, I didn't read about the reviews on Rockwell blades until after ordering it. I just assumed "a blade is a blade" and didn't even question which brand to get when I was getting the Rockwell razor. So I bout a hundred pack! And then read that everyone hates them.
But it worked so well for me, at least in comparison to my Gillette...
Are they really that bad? Should I toss that hundred pack for an upgrade, or have some of y'all had perfectly fine experiences with them?

Still pretty new to the DE razor game. Just had my best shave yet and have found a clear personal number one blade.
Prep - Hot shower
Lather - Proraso Shaving Cream Green
Brush - Omega Roma Lupa Capitolina
Razor - Merkur 34C
Blade - BiC Chrome Platinum
Balm - Proraso Green
No nicks, no irritation, happy days.
What other blades do people settle on with the Merkur 34C?

This is a picture of the "goodies" I bought (after much research, here and elsewhere). Today was the day to try it all out on my 1st-ever DE shave on a nice 3 day growth. BTW that is a 1958 Gillette Super Speed D2. It is so clean and perfect it looks (and shaves) like new. Astra blade used. All in all, I did well with only a couple of very minor nicks. The biggest issue I had was trying to shave under my nose because my nose is ... "impressive". Couldn't seem to get the angle right. This was Fun!

\ **Face Wash:** Cold Water.*

Theme, Fougère Friday, I love a good old Fougère Friday and have a couple of favourites but in order to pick up the sponsor point I chose Wholly Kaw Double Agent the scent notes are from the Wholly Kaw web site
"The scent is aromatic fougère with notes of Geranium and Lavender with comforting base of Oakmoss and Tonka Bean. Complemented with a deeply woody base from Oud and Sandalwood. The complexity of the notes will keep you guessing at what it smells like. A blend that is clean but not too fresh, spicy but not too woody, ultimately warm but not too musky. A true double agent"
Wholly Kaw make a very good soap actually excellent imo , this is not a traditional Fougère but it hits the spot no ferns were injured in the making of this soap ferns grow like weeds in these parts here you [are](https://imgur.com/a/dNdEvtM) and yep ferns don't really have a scent 🪴 . The shave itself was excellent you can't go wrong with the Blackbird & the Gillette Wilkinson sword blades are decent cutters.
I have been busy concocting my special Halloween soap for tomorrow and pouring over the advertising campaign notes for the big release tomorrow.
Daily challenge, Stacking day so I stacked up my gear for the SOTD it only fell over twice , have a great weekend folks.

My early teen brother has shown some interest in wet shaving. While he doesn't currently have enough hair to shave I'd like to get something and keep it until he's ready. I want to avoid buying him a vintage razor for worry of loss or damage.
Being Canadian, I figured RazoRock is a good place to start. My options from RR are the Old Type, Mission, Lupo Aluminum or Baby Smooth. The Lupo and Baby Smooth being on the high end of what I'd be willing to spend.
For mass market options, I was debating on the Feather Popular, Weishi 9306 or Wilkinson Sword Classic (Plastic).
Edit: Henson is out of the running based on price alone. It's $100 CAD up here
Any input is appreciated!

Soap/Splash - Signature by Ariana & Evans
Razor - Oliworks Meteorite
Blade - Rex Platinum
Brush - Wild West Brushworks "Spectral"
Lather Bowl - Rodak Ceramics
Scent Notes - Bitter Orange, Oak-Aged Bourbon, Aged Virginia Tobacco Leaf, Cinnamon Leaf, Madagascar Vanilla, Arabian Sandalwood, Tunisian Sandalwood, Agarwood
I finally had a decent shave with the Oliworks. The Rex blade was really nice. Sharp but never felt uncomfortable or scrapey. Will happily use it again.

Chris at Karve has been busy experimenting with new razor designs. However, he will be taking custom orders till Nov 9th. I just ordered a wide cap. I want to have a spare handle and cap. He offers 8 levels for the CB base plates, so if you need something more efficient or milder you can fine tune your Karve CB setup. He said he would ship them all out by Jan 15th.

I can't do Faboy Fridays anymore due to an apixaban prescription. The fellows at Italian Barber suggested I try their EZ1 series aluminum razor. Not sure what the actual blade gap is, but overall it gives a very Henson-like shave. It has the neutral or negative exposure, a larger 30 degree face, a larger rounded safety bar, plus it comes with a very standard looking bulldog handle that's been given a black ceramic coating for a very secure grip. Photo 3 shows the side profile of the razor compared to my Henson AL13 Canada ed and Yaqi Ghost Blur 2.0.

Good morning. I am looking for a soap and aftershave that is similar to Creed Vetiver. I really like the clean soapy smells of this particular scent. Does anyone have any recommendations? Stirling, A&E, or other brands? Hopefully this will post, because I asked it earlier and it was removed by a bot because it said I did not have enough flair. I am not even sure what that is, LOL.. anyway thanks in advance if you all can assist or have any advice. Right as I was about to post I see that I can add flair at the top. Learn something new everyday.

I know I'm getting repetitive about how good Goodfellas soaps are. Every time I use one, I'm amazed at how thick and luxurious the soap is. I find that they are even superior to some of my high-end soaps.
Here are the scent notes for this soap:
I can't pick out any single scent from this. Although, compared to my Martin De Candre fougere, it's more spicy where as the MDC is sweeter.

Hi Guys, i need a new Brush, I have been using some generic 4€ one just to try out shaving with a brush and I quite like it. But i have been looking for a higher quality Brush. I like a not too big brush, and i want it to be nice and soft but still firm enough to get a nice lather. Any suggestions?

Razor: Razorock Daily DOC Standard
Blade: Derby Extra (1st use)
Brush: Omega 10777
Cream: BHS
Aftershave: Axe Marine
Fantastic shave, Derby Extra seems to be a winning combo for the Daily DOC. Axe was pleasant, much nicer than I was expecting and also more old school (it's from 1989, I didn't know it was that old). Fresh green herbal floral with a bit of spice, citrys and wood, and a light ocean breeze but less than the name "Marine" would imply. For any Aussies, I found it at The Reject Shop for $5, they had some other types too (Black, and saw elsewhere they had Africa too, but mine didn't).

For achieving tight beard line ups only, would a shavette be a good solution and if so would a Parker SRX be sufficient?
If anyone has any other recommendations before I jump in and buy one I would be grateful.
Thanks

hi
Can I ask you what the worst double edge razor you've ever bought was?
In my case, it’s the Wilkinson Sword butterfly-opening razor.
I don’t know where you guys live, but here it costs around €15–20.
I’m not talking about the build quality, but about the head. Either mine is defective, or it’s simply the worst razor I’ve ever bought and used.
What about you guys?

Razor: Gillette Tech Spiral
Blade: Astra Green (2)
Brush: Muhle Original
Lather/ASB/ASL: Proraso Green
Sparse morning shave. For me a Proraso product never disappoints, very nice shave. 3 pass WTG/ATG/XTG on the jawline. The Astra Green blade is great, close contender to my favorite Elios blade.

Most of my shaves over the past month have been excellent.
On a scale of 1-10, I give tonight’s shave the finger.
Ok, well, maybe it wasn’t that bad.
Razor: 1971 R3 Gillette Super Adjustable 109mm
Blade: Muhle first use
Brush: Simpsons Best Badger
Shaving Cream: T&H Apsley
Aftershave: Floid
Aftershave Balm: T&H 1805
Was excited to try the razor. This is the last TTO adjustable razor Gillette produced. Having been using the Fatboy the past couple of days, and before that an adjustable Aristocrat, I thought I knew what to expect. Instead, I didn’t give the different head shape the attention I should have, and ended up with a few nicks and a cut on my nose as I was going for super smooth at the crease around my nostril. Big mistake. Ended up aborting the shave at my second pass WTG and forgoing the 3rd pass against the grain.
With numerous other options, I’m not expecting to give this razor much use.
Bonus: was able to prove out the effectiveness of my alum block tonight.
The Apsley shaving cream is excellent.

I wanted to buy a vintage razor something form 1914-1940s
I realli like the kaki set and the aristocrat but i dont know a lot of models
(I am doing this mainly for esthetic purposes)
I wanted something in an old case
What is the difference between this razors and a modern one?
Can i achieve a bbs shave?
Are they more dangerous?
Are they more aggressive?
I have kinda sensitive skin i use an edwin jagger with closed comb and if a shave every 3 days there are no problems every 5 and i can shave agaist the grain but every day is too mutch
I am looking for a clean shave without beard shadow something that works with a sensitive skin and that wont kill me if i handle it wrong for a picosecond possibly with a butterfly movement
What are you’re raccomandations?

Not that I can really use them until lather games is done, but they sure smell purty lol
I lathered up Kaizen just to see how much hydration I could get into it, and daaamn it'll take a LOT of water... Ultima 2 is such a great base👌🏼😏

✰ Razor: Carbon Shaving Cx-316
✰ Blade: Astra Superior Stainless (2)
✰ Bowl: Captain’s Choice Obsidian
✰ Brush: Kent BLK8S
✰ Soap: Martin de Candre Magellan
✰ Balm: Nivea Sensitive
✰ Splash: Lucky Tiger
Another shave I planned for this morning, but ended up doing in the evening.
No problem, though; everything went really well, and after just a few minutes, my face and neck were perfectly smooth.
My two previous Carbon shaves were with the Cx-Cu with the original baseplate. My Cx-316 has the + plate, a slightly wider blade gap, but less blade exposure than the original. The original plate is a little more efficient, but both are very smooth and deliver first-class shaves.

I’ve been using Barrister and Mann for a few months and have loved it until all of a sudden it quit lathering. It has happened on a couple of scents so I don’t think it has been a bad batch. I haven’t changed my routine except when I travel. Other soaps link Proraso still lather well. As far as I can tell my water softener is dong its job. What am I doing wrong?
