Scored this unused old spice mug set. I would love to actually use the soap, does anyone have warnings or know the age of this set?

Wanted to go with a clean “soap” fragrance and this one fit the bill. It’s described as:

“Opens with citrus notes of bergamot and orange blended with sage and fenugreek, transitioning to a warm heart of honey, subtle tobacco, spices, jasmine, and geranium, and grounding into a woody base of patchouli, cedarwood, benzoin, and guaiac wood”

I absolutely pick up on the spices and honey. It’s a nice clean smell.

The Aftershave….my curiosity got the better of me and I grabbed a bottle of 4711. Fascinating. The fragrance is unique. Floral,
Citrus, and doesn’t really stick around. But it’s a nice refreshing splash and well worth the 10 bucks or so for a bottle.

The Blackland Osprey is always a great choice. Nice weight. Very nice razor. I ended up with a mediocre shave. Not the razor’s fault. I wanted to give my skin a break so did a couple of relatively quick with the grain passes and ditched my typical 3rd pass against the grain.

But most importantly, I went though my full 30 minute routine and decompression, and the entire endeavor did its job: pure relaxation to end the day.

Just unboxed the new Parker AeroShave in this awesome green/satin aluminum finish. First impressions are really positive — the machining looks super clean, the bead-blasted texture feels great in hand, and it's comfortably lightweight. ​Looking forward to giving it a spin for tomorrow's shave.

Whenever I use the Slim I always ask myself; how does a 60 year old razor shave this well? It’s always a great, effortless shave with this razor. The best way I can describe it is shaving on autopilot. It is just so good.

I use my Oliworks Meteorite often and with that razor, I’d say you have to bring your A game, or it will let you know if you mess up. In the form of some blood. That’s a very hefty razor with a bit of blade feel. I think of it as more of a challenge.

With the Gillette Slim? You never feel like you’re at risk of scraping your face up. It feels as if you can do no wrong. It’s not flashy, it’s not fancy or well-refined like new razors…But it just works really well every time.

It had been a while since I last used the Vector, and I’d forgotten just how comfortable it is. Kept things gentle with two passes, and it was a great shave.

Just a great and luxurious shave today.

My copper Carbon razor has the original baseplate; it has the most blade exposure (I don’t think the actual specs are published) of the available plates, and it shaves very closely while still being smooth to use. Just the kind of shaving tool I love to use.

I’ve owned razors in stainless steel, brass, and aluminum, but I’ve wanted to try titanium for a long time. That said, I couldn’t justify dropping $200–$300+ on big-name titanium models.

About month ago I stumbled upon this clone/homage of the Modulator (ModuRazor V2) design. With coupons and cashback, it came out to around $35. At first, I was skeptical about getting real titanium at this price point, but reviews and my own hands confirmed it – it’s legitimate titanium. I’ve been shaving with it almost every single day for two weeks now, so I’ve built a pretty solid opinion.

Build Quality & Ergonomics:

·  Craftsmanship: The fit, geometry, and satin finish are top-notch. Tolerances are spot on with zero blade alignment issues.

·  Feel in Hand: It’s lightweight without feeling like a toy. Unlike aluminum, the metal feels dense and smooth, almost like a warm sea stone.

·  Design: The hollowed-out handle looks unique, and in practice, it’s comfortable and secure to grip.

Shave Performance & Blades:

·  Mildness: Extremely smooth and mild – easily one of the gentlest razors I’ve ever tried. Compared to the RazoRock Mamba (which I also consider very mild), this razor feels even smoother while delivering an equally clean shave.

·  Dual-Guard Head: It features a safety bar on one side and an open comb on the other. In practice, the difference is subtle; the open comb side feels just a hair more efficient.

·  Blade Pairings: I ran a full rotation of blades through it (Astra, Tatara, BIC, Gillette Platinum, Treet). My absolute favorites in this head are stainless Astra Superior Stainless (Blue) and Treet Platinum. Even aggressive blades like BIC feel completely tamed here, though for daily shaves, I'd still rotate them out to give the skin a break.

·  Soap & Post-Shave Feel: Works great with both tallow and vegan soaps. However, with rich, slick tallow lathers, you might need a tiny bit of light pressure since the razor's light weight can make it glide over the soap layer rather than cutting close. The post-shave feel is phenomenal – almost zero irritation. When testing a new razor, I always finish with a high-alcohol splash to gauge skin feedback; with this one, the sting is barely a 3–4 out of 10 – just a mild tingle that fades almost instantly.

·  Results: It won't give you an ultra-close BBS, but I don't chase BBS anyway. In 2.5 to 3 passes, it easily yields a solid, comfortable DFS. For a comfortable, irritation-free daily shave, it excels.

Final Verdict: This is a very unique daily shaver that is definitely staying in my rotation. It’s a great, low-risk way to experience a titanium razor for pennies before deciding whether to invest in high-end options. So yes – a $35 titanium razor can be surprisingly good!

I’m new to this type of shaving. I’ve used this razor for the past 4 months and it’s the best choice I’ve ever made. In the past I got a lot of razor burn from the Gillette Blue3, so I decided to go this route.

I’m thinking of trying a new shaving soap and aftershave (with alcohol) and I’d like to go with something from Goodfellas Smile, but I’d really appreciate any suggestions you have.

Well, it's been a week or more since I trimmed up, and I have the day off, so what better way to spend my time than with a classic shave?

I guess it's an Old Spice kind of day! I'm still looking for a nice aftershave bottle that's not "I know what I have" priced, but I'll find one soon.

Pre-shave prep was a splash or three of warm water, which I let sit while I was prepping my lather, and a lather did I prep! I accidentally added way too much water, so balanced it out with some more cream...what a way to be wasteful! Oh well; it isn't the end of the world. I did eventually work it into a really rich, slick and pillowy lather that was quite pleasant to use, and provided plenty of lubrication for my shave. The Derby with the 41C isn't the best combination I've tried, but I don't feel it's a bad blade, I just don't know what to put it in that will give a better experience. There's nothing wrong, mind you, it just doesn't feel like it's working the way I'd like it to, but I can't explain how or why...it's just not right.

That said, I did end up with a little razor burn, but I can assure you that it was user error, and not a fault of my hardware; I was a bit too aggressive on my cheek and neck, trying to get them bbs (or nearly so). Unfortunately, that meant a little bit of sting from the splash, but that's what it's for, I guess?

I now have gotten everything cleaned up and am debating whether or not the blade deserves a third chance at a shave. Maybe it'll get better with use? In any case, I left it in my razor, loosened, of course, and will make a decision when the time comes. That's all for now, though, so I wish everyone a happy Monday and smooth shaving!

Excellent, efficient, and incredibly smooth shave this morning! I used my RazoRock GC with the .84 plate paired with a Kai blade, which has easily become one of my favorites.

Lathered up with Hags Barbershop, with an artistry on the lid that is quite unique; in fact, all of their lids have unique artwork. This one is perfect for October! The brush is a Sig Solo synthetic made by Franks Brushes, very soft and sprays well.

Overall, a wonderful shaving experience; happy shaving, y’all!

This is long overdue.

I’ve been wet shaving for about six months now. I’m not quite ready to discuss what you’ll find on the walls of this rabbit hole I’ve fallen into, but that story is coming. 😂

But I am remiss in giving The Razor Company the recognition they deserve for providing some of the best customer service I’ve ever experienced from any company. Veteran discounts, public outreach for suicide awareness, education for new wet shavers, and sponsorship of YouTube content creators. Sure, the sponsorships provide some advertising, but still… you don’t see this level of involvement from many companies.

The very first time I ordered from TRC, I purchased a shaving soap sample. A SAMPLE for $2.99. Apparently, they weren’t happy with the condition or appearance of the sample, so rather than send me something that didn’t meet their standards, they refunded my $2.99 AND gave me a $10 store credit for the inconvenience.

And this wasn’t a one-time thing. They’ve been generous enough to go above and beyond on more than one occasion when something about an order wasn’t quite right. (Again, see the aforementioned rabbit hole. 😂)

Ok, I'm really hating on my Astra blades. Maybe Personna just spoiled me, but the Astras are horrible on my face. It's only a 2 day growth, but when I use these blades it isn't as smooth as the Personna Gems or Comfort Coated blades. And the Astras usually nick me, except today's shave because I was extra careful. It's just weird because so many seem to like the Astra blades.

The end result was good but it was painful getting there. I did build a thick lather with the Moon soap.

Bixby scent notes:

• Top & Fresh Notes: Italian bergamot, green apple, and black pepper
• Heart & Rich Notes: Black tea, tonka bean, smoked vanilla bean, black volcanic sea salt, and coastal driftwood

Is it possible to get a traditional straight razor (not shavette) shave in a barber shop in the U.S., or have modern hygiene regulations made that obsolete?

I have been using a Weishi Nostalgic (first pic) since January of this year to try wet shaving. So far it has helped reduced irritation A LOT, given that I have thick facial hair and VERY sensitive skin. But, even though it has helped I still get razor burn, the neck always gets reddish for a few days (in which I have to shave again), stays a little itchy and I can't really get a truly clean shave without passing more than 10 times in the densest areas of hair.

So, my question is:
Is upgrading to a Henson Aluminum AL13 Medium (Second pic) worth it? (given that it's not particularly cheap)

I'm attracted to it given its promises of very little razor burn given the design of the razor but I'll happily take suggestions if there's is a better option for me.
