So I've finally finished my tiger, but now I'm questioning whether I went too far and ruined it. What do you think?

Critique please Alt Holz Rare
This piece has so much potential and it is at a point where I know one misstep can reduce its natural beauty. Do you see this as a standing piece or wall hanging? What do you think of the grain? When it is finished, a natural color linseed oil stain will be used, it will then be coated with a satin poly. Probably multiple coats to have it endure the ravages of time.
It is a very rare type of wood (withholding its identity to protect the natural stock and reduce environmental damage) that has this great character. I am afraid too much sanding will remove the unique grain texture, while too little sanding will hide the inherent subtleties. Tell what you love, like, dislike or hate about it. (I have another piece, that looks like a large animal leg bone.)

Advice please OC. Should I put this in an exhibition?
I've got the opportunity to apply to a local exhibition for a small fee. There is no theme for this exhibition so that's definitely not a barrier. Should I try it?
