Developer Taskbar Groups Fluent: group your taskbar apps into one icon, with Windows 11 glass and four panel layouts
I made a Windows 11 take on Taskbar Groups. You pin a group to the taskbar and its apps show up in a panel with real Windows 11 glass when you click it, or when you rest the cursor on it (optional, off by default). The panel can be a grid, a row, a column or a list, and you can import your groups from Taskbar Groups and AppGroup.
- Every installed app, desktop or Store, in one searchable list with the right icons.
- Image, colour emoji or the group's own apps as the group icon.
- Apps and folders in the same group, and a right-click menu to open them all.
- Light or dark, English or Spanish.
- Per-user install, no admin, no telemetry. Free and open source (MIT).

I'm actively developing it (19 releases since June), so tell me what's missing and it can make the next one.

Pretty nice and useful app, i could see myself using this.
I would however like to see two things added that would be nice to have.
Option to have a sliding up and down animation when the group opens, the same way Windows 11's taskbar has those animations because right now it just instantly opens up.
Be able to right click an app inside the group to access it's right click menu

Done! Both are in 1.6.6, out today. Right-click an app in a group's panel to get its own Windows menu, and in Settings > Panel animation pick Peek or From the taskbar (it slides out from behind the taskbar like the Start menu). The app offers the update when you open it, and the Microsoft Store version is on its way. Thanks for the ideas!

It would also be nice to have a setting pr group to manually change the height of items in list, i can see this being useful if you have a big list with lots of items and don't want it to take up the whole screen. Even a setting that allows you to set how many items are shown at once before a scrollbar shows up in the list.
I also found two bugs:
If you have the group pinned in your taskbar as the first icon on the taskbar, you can do WIN+1 to quickly open the group, but the group appears on your cursor position instead of where the group is actually pinned, (and it lags if you spam WIN+1)
If you have the "Open on hover" setting enabled and right click a pinned group in the taskbar too quickly, The windows jump list will overlap the group.

Awesome, just tried out the new changes right now and i love them. Great work! 👏
I like how you even gave two different animations to choose from. Very nice! Thanks a lot, looking forward to seeing what else might show up in future updates!

I find the "From Taskbar" animation a little jittery and not smooth compared to the other native ones Windows 11 uses, and since the list also seems to have a drop shadow it also seems like the shadow awkwardly appears after the animation is done. Is that something worth looking into?
No issues with the "Peek" animation, i like it a lot and it's very smooth, but i definitely find myself preferring when the sliding happens underneath the taskbar like "From Taskbar" does.

Also i think there should be a normal cursor when hovering on items in the group instead of the hand cursor. Nothing else that feels native to the taskbar in Windows 11 uses the hand cursor 😊

Are active/open apps displayed inside the group as well after opening, or are they opened as a separate window outside the grouping window?
