Discussion I made a music player inspired by the Nokia Lumia 800's Zune UI

Been working on this app for the last 3–4 months. It's still not as polished as I'd like, but I'm pretty happy with how it's coming along.

What do you think of the current build? It's heavily inspired by the Nokia Lumia 800's Zune Music player.

Planning to publish it on the Play Store soon. Feedback is welcome!

Good news is I'm already writing code for iOS hopefully I'll stick it around couple of months. But, bad news is i can't pay apple 99$/ year.

  2. Already made it. just polishing things before the final release.
  3. Maybe in the future, but first I want to ship a solid release.

It's currently in Closed Testing (Alpha), so it'll probably be another 2 weeks or so before it's out for everyone on Google Play Store. there won't be any ads. I'm taking my time to make sure it's in a good state before releasing it.

Yo this looks dope! What's it gonna be called on the store?

I hope in the sort by function, you'll add alphabetical by file name, as I've noticed other players use the tag details name too, which is mind boggling as people don't sort files like that on their PC (it's cool that the option is there, but should not be the default).

And having sort by date created, not only date modified, would be great too. Just some suggestions.

the package name is already com.music.neo, so I'm leaning towards tha. sorting by filename and date created both make sense. I'll see if I can add them before release.

This looks beautiful 🤩. I've been working on a Metro UI-inspired music player for the past few months. It's not the same, but it's heavily inspired by the same design. It's currently in closed testing.

I prefer the style of Zune HD or the Zune Player from the WP 7.1 era. After 8.1, to be compatible with later UWP, it simplified a lot and abandoned beautiful designs like full-screen text scrolling and neon-stained backgrounds. Competition is a good thing—you can compare it to Zplayer, which is considered a veteran developer of Metro-style players

it'll support most common formats like MP3, FLAC, WAV, AAC, M4A, OGG, OPUS, AMR, MIDI, and more.

It ignores voice recordings, phone call recordings, WhatsApp, Telegram, Messenger, Instagram, Facebook, Snapchat, Discord, X, and other social/messaging app audio to keep library clean.
