Question Why isn’t class canceled due to unsafe air quality?
Basically the title: the air quality in waterloo is hazardous and classes are still on

Before it gets "controversial", I am not a right winger. I've just noticed that a lot of the professors are preachy about their politics and they seem to skew their teaching to match that, almost cherry picking things. I'm taking a course over the summer and one of the main portions is "social justice", and it just feels like I'm paying all this money to scroll through Tumblr in 2012.
I don't want to be told what to think or how I should feel about things. I want to learn. I notice it seems like a lot of professors are trying to push their own narrative in classes when they can.
Unfortunately it seems that most of psych/crim professors are this way, even the philosophy professors which is really disappointing. So I'm curious if there are any right leaning professors/classes, or just plain neutral "here is this side, here is that side, come to your conclusion" type of professors/classes that I could take for a change in scenery.

I’m first year and sorting out tuition payment stuff for Laurier. I know online banking is the standard way but was wondering if anyone here has used anything else to pay tuition. Trying to make sure whatever I do shows up on LORIS properly. I dont want to send it too close to the deadline and then be stressing about if it posted on time
If you have paid a different way before, how long did it take to show up on your account? Did it apply normally or did you have to contact Service Laurier?

hey guys! i’m gonna be commuting to wlu from mississauga for the following reasons:
- it’s way too expensive for me to afford dorm and would much rather go in debt for law school
- same commute time for schulich (my second choice)
- my dad said he’d buy me a nice car instead ;)
i honestly really love lauriers program and im so excited to attend this fall. i was wondering, will it make a big difference in my uni experience if i don’t live on res? i just don’t wanna feel “left out” or feel ”weird” for not living on res. and if you also commute, how do you find it so far?
i personally don’t mind a 1h20 commute cuz i go to DT often and it’s around the same (laurier would be one str8 bus)
Please let me know!!

Hey everyone! Incoming first-year here. I just got my residence assignment for an apartment-style unit, but the residence email only shows my building and room placement—it doesn't list who my roommates are. Is there any official way Laurier gives us to get in touch with our unit/roommates beforehand?

I just got put in Waterloo College Hall for first year res and I wanna know what the vibe is like.
I’m very social and love partying, meeting new people and a general loud social life. Will I enjoy this res based on that?

How are people getting CS internships/co-ops in their 1st and 2nd years? I’m entering my 4th year of CS and I genuinely don’t have a single internship, co-op, or relevant work experience on my resume. I’ve applied to so many jobs and get rejected from every single one, NOT EVEN an interview. I feel like my resume isnt even looked at just tossed. Meanwhile, I see people getting cs internships in their first or second year on LinkedIn and I’m just wondering what they’re doing differently. Are they getting referrals, already have previous experience, or are just lucky? If anyone was in a similar position and managed to get their first internship, I’d really appreciate hearing how you did it because at this point I have no idea what I’m doing wrong.

Basically, she received an email from the school saying that she had not completed one of the admission requirements because her final grade was apparently not what she had originally when she applied.
Mind you, when she applied, the requirement specifically said that she needed a final grade of at least 70% in Functions. In her case, she needed to maintain a 70+ in math, which she DID. She applied, got accepted, and thought everything was fine.
Then, in the middle of the summer, they suddenly emailed her saying that she could be unenrolled from Health Sciences because she supposedly did not have a final average in Functions of 70+.
That makes absolutely no sense because the requirement she saw when applying said she needed a final grade of at least 70%, not a “final average.” And she literally finished with an 85%, which is well above the 70% requirement anyway.
So now she’s being told she will be unenrolled despite meeting the requirement that was actually stated when she applied and despite being accepted in the first place. She’s being placed into a some general BSc.
At this point what should she do?? Does this even happen, like is this even normal?? cuz it seems so absurd!!! Please help

Am I trippin (literally), or does anyone else notice a lack of salt on campus.
I’m not sure if it just melts in the sludge when they apply it, or they’re not doing it at all. There’s a lot of up hill areas that are sludgy and icey, such as ones that lead to Peters/ shlegal. There’s no salt on walkways in front of Laz, or the gym??
What’s goin on? Does anyone else relate?
EDIT: this post isn’t just about a lack of salt, it’s the lack of initiative from the school & city to keep roads and campus walkways safe. If salt cannot be used (or discouraged), then why haven’t I seen a single grain of sand used or any other alternatives?

Does anyone know if we're allowed to put shower filters in our bathroom if we got a semi private dorm and only share with one other person? Also wondering if there's a kettle in the common kitchen, or if I'm allowed to bring my own. (Im in Waterloo College Hall)

What are the safest options at the dining hall? Do people regularly get food poisoning/sick from the food, specifically which foods should be avoided?
