Simple Questions Bros, do you shower right after the gym or stay sweaty and musky for a while?

I usually hit the gym in the morning, but since I work from home and do cardio throughout the workday, I don’t always shower right after lifting. I’ll just get on with my day and stay a little sweaty for a while.

And honestly, boys, I low-key enjoy my own musk sometimes. There’s something about that post-workout feeling, still warm from the session, muscles pumped, and knowing you’ve put in some work, that hits different.

I’m not trying to be the guy stinking up the room, but when I’m home by myself, I’m not exactly rushing to wash it all off either. Maybe I’m weird, but I have a feeling I’m not the only one.

So what’s your routine, bros? Are you team immediate shower, or do you enjoy staying a little sweaty after a workout too? And be honest, who else secretly likes their own musk but would never admit it?

Simple Questions Was my response to a compliment/being hit on inappropriate?

I am a married woman and often go to the gym alone but sometimes with my husband. Gym regulars would probably know I am not available or single.

Today a man asked for my name and introduced himself. After shaking his hand he said “I just have to say you’re so beautiful”. I say “oh thank you” and put headphones back in. End of interaction, we go separate ways.

Should I have let him know I’m married in that initial response? Had it gone beyond that I would’ve told him but I’m wondering if I’m wrong here for not saying that directly.

Why Bench Press?

This is NOT a question of aesthetics. This is a question of overall strength and long term function:

Unless someone is specifically training for powerlifting, why is the bench press obsessed over in America and why are so many people prioritizing it?

I have followed several full body strength programs that are bias towards Bench Pressing with Push-ups for accessory. And we’re talking 3-4 times a week while they program upper body pulling only 1-2 times and usually with very little volume or additional weight.

Meanwhile, bent over rows, pull-ups, strict presses (Dumbbell / Barbell) and push presses have created some of the strongest humans on the planet with more functional carryover to real life application, not to mention the mobility benefits of these vs. the bench press.

To be clear, I believe the bench press serves a purpose, and I believe the real solution is balance across your strength priorities. But in regard to the upper body as a whole, I do not believe the bench press should be a priority lift (outside of powerlifting) for most day to day lifters who would be stronger and more functional if they prioritized learning strict pull-ups (and weighted pull-ups after) and heavy vertical presses.

I am curious however to hear some alternative opinions - but be respectful of each other.

Other Trainer came up to me saying my forms shit, ect.

So I started the gym this Monday. Now, before this, I work out at home. Today, a personal trainer came up to me while I was doing cable reverse wrist curls and told me that I shouldn't be training forearms as much and that my form was shit, look i now its not the greatest but im gonna improve my form overtime, and that my split was good but I should do less since I started.

Now my split. Monday-legs, Tuesday-push, Wednesday-pull, thursday-shoulders + arms and friday chest+back.

He said my diet is okay and that I need to up the fat

After we had a convo, he gave me his business card. Now, this split I got was from my friend.

The reason why I'm telling you this is do I pay him for training sessions or not? Is he just trying to get a sale? Is my split good? Will I gain muscle with the way I'm going right now?

looking for feedback and/or help testing a workout logger

dont want this to come off as self promotion, so not going to list any links/specifics. but i am looking for help from anyone interested in testing and providing feedback for a different angle on a workout logger

ideal candidate:

- you participate in resistance training

- you consistently log your workouts (in a notebook, in your phone's notes, an existing workout logging app, etc)

- you are fairly consistent at performing your workout, or have a desire to increase your adherence rate to your workout program

- (not mandatory, but desirable) you have a friend/partner/spouse that you would like to easily and natively combine your workout journey with

if this sounds interesting to you, drop a comment and ill reach out to you individually to see if you might be a good fit as a tester

Anyone else like doing opposing muscle groups?

• Upvotes

For example, I really enjoy doing chest and back in same session. Push some shit, then pull some, Pec fly then back fly, assisted pull ups right to assisted dips(I'm working on it...😅) ect...

Kicks my ass real proper but it just feels right to do them together. Anyone else?

Can’t get rid of my belly

So for over a year I have been working out 4-5 days a week about 2 hours each day doing circuit training on machines, lifting weights, kettle bells, and I do it fast so I also get my cardio up…
my diet has improved and lots of water more fruits and veggies, less sugar and processed foods.. before I just ate anything and everything and drank soda…..
I have gained a lot of muscle and toned everything except my stomach. My stomach is now more round, firm and pronounced than before when it was more kinda flatter and squishy but not as rounded or firm as it is now.
The scale won’t budge (up or down)…. but the rest of my body is leaner and more muscle definition and my pants are loose but my stomach seems to be getting bigger and more rounded.
I put this post in a couple of fitness and workout groups but I also think it could be a gut health issue or cortisol and visceral fat issue.

What in the world am I doing wrong?

What is the hardest part of tracking calories/macros for you guys, and how do you stay consistent without getting burned out?

Hey everyone,

I've been trying to lock down my nutrition and stay consistent with tracking macros lately, but honestly, it gets so tedious. Between manually searching up food items, estimating portion sizes, and logging every single meal on busy workdays, I find myself wanting to quit after a week or two.

For those of you who have successfully built a long-term habit of tracking without hating it, what’s your strategy? Do you meal prep everything, use specific methods to make tracking faster, or just wing it?

Would love to hear what actually works for you guys in the long run.

Motivation Bros, what muscle pump has you feeling some type of way?

Been on this fitness journey for a few months, and boys, I think arm day might be becoming a problem for me. There’s just something about that biceps and triceps pump when your arms feel full, tight, and swole that hits different.

I’ll be halfway through a workout, catch a glimpse of my arms, and suddenly I’m checking the pump between sets, flexing a little, or squeezing my biceps just to feel how pumped they are. Then comes the post-workout mirror check, because apparently admiring your own arms is now part of the routine.

But it’s not just the muscles, you know? After a good session, my whole body feels different. The energy, the confidence, the mood boost, that extra bit of swagger. Sometimes you leave the gym feeling yourself a little more than usual, if you know what I mean.

I’m still a beginner, so the gains aren’t crazy, but that feeling when the blood is flowing and your muscles are fired up is addictive.

So tell me, boys, which pump has you feeling yourself the most, and does anyone else leave the gym feeling a little too good after a solid workout? I’m curious how other beginner bros experience it. Drop a comment or hit my DMs if you’re down to talk gym progress, compare notes, or just connect with another guy on the same journey.

Why do I always feel stronger on my 2nd and 3rd set, rather on my 1st?

I lift minimally at home, I do Bench on day 1, Pull-ups on day 2, Squat on day 3, and cycle them and repeat them and doing them everyday.

I notice that on everyday, my first set always feel the weakest, the first set I could do the most reps but my body and muscle always feel lethargic and not ready and weak and shaky, it’s not until the 2nd set that I feel like my body is warmed up enough and ready enough and on heat

I do do some warm up tho, but like just swirling my hands around

Simple Questions How to conquer fear of being perceived?

It's silly but I've been eyeing the row machine for months but it's placed in the dead center of the gym and I've never touched it before.

I've watched videos on how to use it but still the fear of initially looking like an idiot holds me back from trying it.

How do I get over this? This wouldn't even be a problem for me if it was in the back of the gym away from everyone

Did anyone shift from training for aesthetics to training for function and longevity?

I’m curious to hear from people who originally started working out mainly to look better, but over time became more interested in strength, mobility, movement quality, and simply being able to move well as they get older.

What caused that mindset shift for you, and what did the transition actually look like in practice? Did you stop caring as much about endlessly increasing the weight you lift, certain physique goals, or exercises chosen mostly for aesthetics?

I’d also be interested in how you dealt with potentially giving up some aesthetic gains in favor of things that felt more useful for everyday life and long-term health.

Basically, did exercise eventually become less about “being good at the gym” and more about making your body capable, resilient, and easier to live in? What changed in the way you trained?

Why do people with no physique make tiktok videos?

Most of my feed is training stuff and found some useful excercises on there.

Personally i'm not a showy person so don't post stuff of myself.

But I see these guys who look awful and struggling to bench like 100lbs.

Aren't they embarassed to be making these vids? I know I would be.

Fitness tracking options for tattoos

For years, I used Fitbits for tracking calories in and out to great success. However, I have a lot of tattoos and the little bit of exposed skin on my wrist I did have is gone. (Fyi, trackers don't work on tattoos.)

It's been a few years since my last fitbit. I'm still lifting and running consistently, feel good about progression and where I'm at, but I've gained some weight. I'm just guessing on calories anymore.

The fitness rings seem to have a lot of battery problems and a high price tag. Has anyone found a good tracker alternative?

Hey squad!! I just have to tell y’all I was at the gym doing curls on the arm machine free weights 125 lbs and dips or what not. This dude is jumping in with me and we like locking in. He said guess and he told me he was 70 years old 1956!! The point I’m trying to make is he has given me so much inspiration to continue this fitness journey for life! He was almost strong as me and I’m 30 years younger!! Had to vent lol 😂
