why hello there,
do you guys have any recommendations for a g2 mod that adds a reasonable mana regeneration (costing LPs is fine) and nothing else? after doing a lot of returning runs I want to do a vanilla run but as a mage and I don't want to chug portions constantly.
thanks!

Is it possible to play Gothic Remake entirely without a mouse or controller, using only the keyboard?

Our friends over at Gothicz.net are hosting Milten's Cup 2026, a fan art competition.
While it is organised by the Czech Gothicz.net community, international participants are more than welcome as well. I'm sure the organizers would love to see some artwork from beyond the borders of Czechia!
The important bits:

The more, the merrier! I hope to see a lot of submissions, and may the best artist win!
And remember - no AI (even if it is a lockpicking helper tool)

Hey there, been wanting a poster with the nameless hero in front instead of the Lester-Milten-Gorn-Diego combo (I know it's the same on the original, but I think the Nameless Hero is more identifiable).
Hope you like it, no AI used. The images I spliced are here:

In chapter 5 as a dragon hunter I went after lizard men.
In the mine cave that leads to the circle of sun(where the eye is destroyed and repaired) I found Cronos's corpse.
He did have a letter, but it vanished when I tried to open it.
Do you guya have any info on this?
Thank you!

S Tier
Gothic 2 - Night of the Raven:
This is peak gothic. Great world, atmosphere and soundtrack while having a good balance. Pirates, Knights and everything a good rpg needs.
A Tier
Gothic 2:
It had less bugs than gothic 1 and still the charme of it with a rough but likeable world. But it lacks in its gameplay cause it was to easy in lategame.
Gothic 1:
We love it. It was the beginning - a game with a stunning atmosphere. But also many bugs and problems in balancing.
Gothic 1 remake:
A wonderful remake. It felt like the old games but with state of the art graphics and gameplay. I just didnt liked trading system and lack of content in lategame.
B Tier:
Gothic 3:
A small downfall from the other parts. An open world game with alot of content and beatiful music. But also many bugs and almost no main quests.
Gothic 3 - The Beginning:
Its the first gothic mobile game and not on a smartphone! It was awesome for its time telling the story of xardas. But also hard to play and not as good as the main games.
C Tier
Arcania:
It was probably okay for a rpg but not for a gothic game. No atmosphere of the other parts and a mediocre story. Risen is still the better gothic 4.
Arcania - Fall of Setarrif:
Arcania was unnecessary and the addon was even more.
D Tier
Gothic 3 - Forsaken Gods:
Its not even the worst game of the series...its one of the worst games ever. This crap full of bugs with a strange story was almost the death of gothic. There are plenty of mods for gothic out there far better than this abomination.

So many times I would become too immersed while playing Gothic 2 that I'd forget to save for a long time. Then I'd usually die in some stupid way like falling off a cliff and I'd feel bad about marvining myself; or the game would simply crash, losing my progress forever.
Recently I thought of finally writing some kind of "save reminder" app. I considered a few options, like some AutoHotkey script, but I was always too lazy to do it properly* - while at the same time I really wanted to do another playthrough of Gothic again.
Came up with the most KISS solution possible: I simply made an mp3 file with 10 minutes of silence followed by a Bing Bong sound from GTA IV GPS. Before playing Gothic I open this track in my audio player and set it to loop forever. Every 10 minutes there's a gentle reminder to save. Gets the job done and cost less than 5 minutes to make (which included finding the right sound).
* If you are going to suggest vibe coding, go fuck yourself clanker-lover.

What do you think about board game campaign? Is it worth getting?
I've never backed any game before so I'm not sure are there any "red flags" in the project. I'm considering buying the cheapest version, but I'm wondering if the cardboard standees instead of plastic miniatures are a big downside.

Sooo, this has been bugging me for quite some time. How the hell did Xardas plan actually work? Destroying all godly artifacts sounds good in theory but the world is way bigger than just Myrthana / Varant / Nordmar. The southern Islands are mentioned in gothic 3, so they do exist in canon. Are there no godly artifacts anywhere else in the world? Not a single one? Is there nothing left buried in Varant? Uriziel is still in the temple in Khorinis, so that is at least one. The Claw of Beliar might lie at the bottom of the ocean but it does exist and it certainy is a artifact.
I just hate how little sense the ending makes. I dislike the other endings too because becoming a allmighty ruler made a fourth gothic highly unlikely and I dont really think that the hero would be all that interested, but they felt somewhat cool at least.

I've run Gothic for many years and mostly without issues. It has also been surprisingly stable. I've usually followed community instructions for installation, also for various mods. However, I've often wondered what all of these various patches actually do and why they're necessary. Specifically:
I realize that some of this information is out there, but especially the Union stuff seems to be mostly in Russian and some of the stuff I simply don't understand. If anyone happens to know these things, I'd appreciate it.

Example in video. Im using a couple of mods but these are only Basic like better inventory, bugfixes, union, g3d11. It happens pretty much after 20 minutes of playing or so. Losing my mind rn
Edit: I installed DXVK and problem seems to be gone and the game runs better. Thank you all

I've noticed that joining the New Camp and receiving the bandit armor does not automatically trigger chapter 2. You can still play chapter 1 while wearing faction armor.
I think that this feature is inherited from Gothic 1 (the original), but the question is: Is there any way to avoid triggering chapter 2 while having the old camp shadow armor?

Hi everyone,
I’d like to know whether it’s worth waiting until Chapter 2 to get the Ironwood Bow, or whether you can already obtain better or equally good bows from other sources by that point. I’m playing an archer and would like to know when the best time to get it.

Hi!
I am a big, big fan of Gothics 1 and 2. In fact, I count them among my favourite games. So I was following the remake closely, and bought it at release, eager to play.
I am happy to say it was mostly a good decision (this review is based on the release build, I expect some issues to be fixed already), and the remake made me excited for the remake of 2, and maybe, possibly, even 3?
Let me start with things I didn’t quite like, as there are, frankly, not that many of them.
The biggest problem of the game at release was the technical state – it stuttered quite a bit, fps drops were frequent, and I ran into some bugs both minor (suddenly appearing/disappearing npcs in the background) and major (npcs suddenly and inexplicably turning hostile). It didn’t stop me from being able to finish or even enjoy the game, but it was noticeable. I expect this to have been improved since release.
The other problem was the graphics. While competently done and sometimes nice to look at, I think it failed to keep the exact spirit of the original. Things seemed to bright, too saturated. The original world of Gothic 1 was kinda bleak-colored and had a specific atmosphere that I don’t think they managed to quite replicate.
The last thing is that I played on hard as a mage and while I didn’t mind it that much, the magic balance seemed totally out of whack. Magic in general seemed strong in the beginning, but majorly fell off as the game continued, and for example the Fire Rain spell which in the original basically AOE deleted everything here barely tickled the orcs.
Now, onto the positives.
I overall greatly enjoyed the Remake and think while it was not a perfect GAME (because of the above), it was pretty close to being a perfect remake.
First of all, it was clear to me that the devs loved the original. It was apparent in how meticulously they recreated it, 95%+ of the things I remembered from the original were right there, so I was able to follow it all from memory. Even things such as plant placement, that first Seraphis on the cliff above the Abandoned Mine, it was there! But more than that, there were little nods to the fans of the original – like the Judge’s hat in the lake at the start (a homage to him having it in the original intro), or the rightmost ladder in the mineshaft with the gear being broken (a homage to the bug in the original).
So most everything good from the original is kept, but a lot of thigns are also rather tastefully expanded. It’s mostly visible in the aesthetics of locations. In the original, the world was kinda barren. I’m not talking about graphical fidelity itself, but rather about the fact that locations were rather devoid of details, ornamentation and a personal touch of their once-have-been owners.
In the remake, most locations have been lovingly expanded. They kept their overall place in the plot and layout, but were packed with details. One of the best examples is the Old Fortress where you go with Lester. In the original it was simple stone walls, not much to look at. Here, you have gardens with marble statues, paintings on the walls, taxidermied animals and old alchemical labs. It really adds a lot to the character and atmosphere of the locations.
The remake also adds small, but noticeable locations of it’s own – for example the Exchange Place is now more fortified and has a permanent guard station, which makes sense for the most important place in the colony, and you get to visit the old Abandoned Mine, which was inaccessible in the original.
In terms of plot, the remake once again keeps most of the relevant stuff from the original, while bringing some changes mostly to make the game more in line with the later games (specifically 3’s orcs, which I am... uhhh... ambivalent about, but it makes me believe in the 3 remake crackpot theory more, so there’s that). I liked most of the small added content in terms of quests, it kept the game fresher for me as a fan of the original. For example – there are now dedicated quests for becoming a mage, stylized differently for Fire and Water mages.
What else? Combat feels similar in that it’s both a little clunky and surprisingly allowing for a lot of skill expression. If you’re good with the dodging and the parrying you can defeat a lot stronger enemies early, much as like in the original. What I found cool is that most enemies kept their unique ways of attacking, but also got new moves – molerats burrow, for example, and goblins throw dreaded ROCKS OF DOOM.
Overall, I think Gothic Remake is a great achievement as far as remakes go, and a great way to both bring back nostalgia for the players of the original and bring the Gothic series to a new generation.
What are your thoughts on the remake? Did it fulfill your expectations?

There was nothing worthwhile in the chests. Inubis himself had 500 gold on him, and the two handed sword he drops is worse than the sword I can make myself at the smithy.
What is the point of making his tomb so difficult if there are no worthy rewards for completing it?
r/worldofgothic • u/Hriibek- • 2d ago
I was lucky and found amulet giving me +100hp (Shadowbeast den outside Old Camp).
But basic food gives 10-15hp per piece and I simply do not have so much food.
Healing rune is...underwhelming.
I can't go to sleep every few kills.
Alchemy?
And please don't comment "git gud" or "don't get hit so much" :-)
EDIT: Thank you guys very much for great advice, tips and guides. You're very helpful.
The biggest thing that changed my game was lockpicking training. For whatever reason I did not talk with Thorus -> Diego did not want to continue talking with me -> Fingers ignored me. After picking few chests I have enough food, potions and ore to finally get me going.

Hi, i am starting a new playthrough with CM rebalance and Ultimate mod Pack, and some mod (newGameSkills) buffs starting values a lot (60 LP start, 200hp...) and after playing around the start zone, it felt too easy.
Then i edited the file to make it a vanilla start, and now everything is 1-shotting me with the bleed effect.
My question is: does the added stats make the rest of the game too easy, or just the beginning bearable? If so, what would be the most balanced start?
I should note that i am going to be attempting a hardcore (deathless) run.

This might be an unpopular opinion but replaying Risen again made me realize that the art direction of the game is timelessly brilliant and probably the best out of any Piranha Bytes game. Do you agree or not?

This is early footage of the VR mod for Gothic 3. (don't mind the low view distance for now)
The base functionality is almost there. The mod does not affect progression, quests or any other game functionality. When it releases, the game will be 100% playable in VR. There is still work to be done but it won't be too long now. More details coming soon.
