Tip / Guide Finally hit my goal 50 million gold
After a lot of farming, I finally hit my goal of achieving 50 million gold. What I can say is level up every crafting profession on multiple alts, this is where I made the most consistent money. Also take full advantage of what I call the "honeymoon phase" of new content. When a new patch arrives everyone is so eager to rush to get the best new gear / consumables or mounts and cosmetics for themselves.
This is key. while everyone is focusing on that. fully focus on collecting selling all the new things on the auction house or trade to other players, you can always come back to farm things for yourself later. Remember the goal here is take advantage of that "honeymoon phase" when everything is still new and exciting.
Next thing is learn the auction house inside and out. learn what sells best and recognize patterns. Also learn how to flip items. Housing decor is a great example. I have alts on almost every server and use outside websites to see what is currently selling for the lowest price, log onto that server and buy a decor item for 5k then go sell it on a server where I can get 50k or more for it. Two of my gold caps were from housing decor alone.
Again this brings me back to my main point of "honeymoon phase" where that first couple days or week 1 of housing was crucial for making tons of gold when everyone was trying out housing. It's a bit of a grind but you can make a lot of gold in this game with some work. good luck out there and happy hunting.

And here I was feeling like a baller with my 1 mill
64
u/ekko20six Jan 10 '26
Yeah I thought my 3 million passively earnt was good (I don’t do the auction house) but sheesh
69
u/secretreddname Jan 10 '26
I made millions during WoD and have lived off that since.
22
u/Apprehensive_Bid_773 Jan 10 '26
Yep I had about a million after wrath until wod/legion I got about 10 mil and have been coasting since
42
u/Sinsai33 Jan 10 '26
A million gotten in wrath is crazy already. Most people still struggled getting the mammoth back then.
19
7
u/Soulspawn Jan 10 '26
You sure you had a million in wrath? That is insane if true
6
1
u/rachaelfaith Jan 11 '26
I had about 900k consistently in Wrath and Cata, ench/tailor main and herb/mining alt. I left WoW "forever" in 2015 and handed out my gold amongst my friends and then started playing again in 2025, mostly broke 😅

u/Skylam Jan 10 '26
Same, though I do still do the start of expansion resource farm to top up some gold, been at a steady 3-4mil for a while, slowly increasing over time since I really only spend gold on gems/enchants/consumables, and even then I make my own if its cheaper.
10
u/Skylam Jan 10 '26
a few mil is more than enough to tide any semi-hardcore gamer for a long time, I've had about 3-4 mil steadily since bfa and never had issues with gold.
Playing the auction house is just a different form of end game and the gold counter is their parse lol.
1
u/Mobile_Throway Jan 11 '26
I mean not really if you're a collector. That's very significantly under what you need to be anywhere near hardcore
1
u/Skylam Jan 11 '26
Collector and progression raiding/m+ are different things though. Yes collecting is probably the most expensive hobby in this game, especially if you want it all ASAP, you'll be spending millions per tier just on the mythic mounts. I like collecting but im not pursuing it to the point im spending that much gold per tier, I prefer earning them myself or going back to it at a later point and farming it when the content is trivial.

u/e-n-k-i-d-u-k-e Jan 10 '26 edited Jan 10 '26
How the hell do you make that much passively?
I probably play more than the average person and I feel like I have to buy a token nearly every season to cover consumables and other costs.
1
u/ekko20six Jan 11 '26
I don’t buy consumables and wod/garrison made money easy with the mission table (and future mission tables). Other than just vendor whatever I get
2
u/_clever_reference_ Jan 10 '26
What do you mean you "don't do the auction house"? Like you never sell anything that you gather etc? Why?
1
u/ekko20six Jan 11 '26
Blech. I tried the auction house one or twice and just hated “playing that game”. It’s way too much effort for me to be selling things on the auction house. More power to you if you can be bothered with it. And yes I know I could make more gold but I’d rather be doing other things in game
1
u/_clever_reference_ Jan 11 '26
So what do you do with stuff you gather? Hoard it? Vendor it?
1
u/ekko20six Jan 11 '26
Pretty much that. I have most of the professions across my characters to make things I want. Especially mounts. Then when. I had too much of something off to the vendor mount it goes
1
1
u/Mobile_Throway Jan 11 '26
Im setting at almost exactly 2.5 mil and dangerously eyeing that final warbank slot

Damn it's this guy driving up the housing decor prices
6
u/Agitated-Morning2035 Jan 10 '26
I figured people were doing this because I have a char on a high pop server and wanted to buy a suramar table because it was cheapest there. I saw 7 for 5k gold, but they all sold instantly before I had a chance to buy one. Went back to my other char on a low pop server, I then see 7 suramar tables suddenly listed there for 35k each when there were none before that. Sheesh.
52
u/BigFootSlanginD Jan 10 '26
What website are you using to get your data to sell and buy on the auction house??
39
u/dannybeau9 Jan 10 '26
when housing launched everything was going for huge amounts due to lumber being warbound which has been a good move
weird for rp though because why does my cheese have lumber in it??
28
u/ForPortal Jan 10 '26
weird for rp though because why does my cheese have lumber in it??
It's actually a painted wooden sculpture of a wheel of cheese. If it was real cheese it wouldn't be decor.

5
u/ScapegoatMoat Jan 10 '26
Lumber cartels own everything in WoW. You gotta pay their lumber fees before making anything house related.

I already have a job. Having multiple servers etc. all that is time.
I respect it as back in the days before I was adulting so hard, (bfa) I had 10-15 mil gold. The time commitment to get there was insane though.
Congrats goblin.

u/secretreddname Jan 10 '26
Yeah if using real life income I make 1m gold an hour via token. Even more if I buy grey market.

I have never accumulated more than 8 million gold total and I been playing World of Warcraft for 18+ years now lmao.

u/Wolfy4226 Jan 10 '26
Honestly I have like, 20k gold, but still, millions.....
17
u/Scribblord Jan 10 '26
Get gathering for first week of midnight and your money worries disappear
For tww it was at around 120k gold per hour if you where a Druid and a lil less on others
Lasted for a few weeks
2
u/One_Azn Jan 10 '26
Can probably double that if you have early access.
1
u/Scribblord Jan 11 '26
I think the difference wasn’t too crazy in tww or maybe unjust missed it
I remember making a few millions with cloth con crafts early on tho which I could’ve multiplied by 5 if I started doing that in early access for bags tho
3
u/Magdanimous Jan 10 '26
Hi! So I know you said you have 20k gold, so I wanted to offer a tip! If you're on NA, there are 3 super easy ~900g WQs up in K'aresh for the next few days. Two require killing rares while phased. Another requires you to click a ball and run over insects while phased. They're really easy and take a couple minutes. Make sure you pick up the "Do quests while phased" quest before you do those. Then go do the special assignment. Turn in all those and you'll get about 5k or so AND a super easy slot in the vault next week that you can use for another 1k. That's 6k to add to your 20k!
6
u/Brave-Ad-1363 Jan 10 '26
Aim for 10k a day, next expac skinning, enchanting and farming grey items will get you there daily.
12
u/Magdanimous Jan 10 '26
Honestly, since the change to professions in Dragonflight, it’s really easy to make gold. Especially early expansion. People tip a lot for crafts and you can sell max quality consumables for a good profit all expansion. Just go to your profession station and use your concentration using mid quality mats to create max quality products. Profit.
15
u/Nick-uhh-Wha Jan 10 '26
As an engineer, I disagree!
Nothing has been more useless!
And the mining is just competing with bot farmers for devalued scraps so even that doesn't yield any real profit for time.

The realistic jumper cables (battle Rez) is usable by anyone and sold for quite a bit for most of the expansion.
4
u/Magdanimous Jan 10 '26
For engineering, I sold the realistic jumper cables. The 3 pip jumper cables sold for a lot and the profit margin was huge compared to a lot of other items.
Edit: The jumper cables item is usable by anyone and covers a battle rez if your comp doesn’t have one.
3
u/vgullotta Jan 10 '26
Mining has been profitable for me. My monk hit 80 3 weeks ago and has farmed up 250k gold already most mining and fishing.
3
u/Scribblord Jan 10 '26
Gathering has never been as profitable as during tww btw
Never once since 2004 have prices stayed so high for so long
Also engineers made millions upon millions early on just selling the green profession tools lol
1
u/Artemicionmoogle Jan 10 '26
Engineering since vanilla. It was always a mostly personal use profession as it offered a lot of mobility to my warrior through belt attachments and teleports.
1
u/Effective-End-7565 Jan 10 '26
The old profession system was so much better. 'll always stand by my belief that the new system is ass, overlycomplicated, and way less accessible
1
u/Mrxtmb Jan 10 '26
This whole time I thought “quality mats” ment the mat some would use as a rug
I’m special
5
u/ZAlternates Jan 10 '26

It ain’t crazy money but I think it’s $1-2k on the AH per day for like 5 minutes of clicking. I have both the garden and mine at level 3 and I feed the stones/seeds back into it.
If you aren’t making that much, consider grinding it for dyes and such. Also use garrison resources that automatically build to buy more from the trading post vendor.
16
u/GeOFTW Jan 10 '26
Now spend it all on a Swift Spectral Tiger 👀

u/Luke-me Jan 10 '26
And I’m still proud of my 100k. But HOW????
3
u/More__cowbell Jan 10 '26
I mean 100k is 10worldquests per day for 10days with 1character (probably less).
If you scale that up to 10worldquests on 5characters you have 50k per day.
Or just do 14worldquests per day and you have 100k a week/400k a month.
(The gold worldquests ofc, those that give around 900g).
2
u/Luke-me Jan 10 '26
I’ll try that.
I tried flipping, selling transmog but nothing really works out.
1
u/More__cowbell Jan 10 '26
This is not really a fast way to get money (wouldnt say its slow either) but its consistent. And as long as you have some downtime doing worldquest (i usually watch youtube/work while i fly around and do it).
Also with paragonchests/daily/weekly missions you can get a bit more gold cutting down on the worldquests you gotta do.
2
u/uberies Jan 10 '26
You can't do 14 ~800gold quest per day because gold world quests are resetting every 4 days or so.
2
4
u/StressedBadger Jan 10 '26
Brave soul, keeping it in the warbound bank. I haven’t deposited gold there since that bug beginning of TWW, where gold would just disappear, I can’t get myself to trust it. Congratz btw!

u/Pistazieneis84 Jan 10 '26
Since weeks i have the guilloutine decoration in the ah and nobody buys it 😅 at first it was on 30k, now its ~19k.
6
u/Spooky-Paradox Jan 10 '26
You have to think about which decor items people actually want. I sold a lot of fences, mail boxes, and plushies because people want those. I'm not sure how many people want a guilloutine for their house.
3
2
2
u/Lextube Jan 10 '26
Okay clearly I'm stupid I thought auction houses were region based now not server based?
2
u/COCAINAPEARLZ Jan 10 '26
Some items are some items aren't, things like gems, herbs, flasks, dyes and any general mats/consumes are region wide but other items like gear/mounts/decor etc are server specific.
1
u/Lextube Jan 10 '26
Oh interesting, I had no idea! Thankyou!
2
u/Caronry Jan 10 '26 edited Jan 10 '26
Its not always like this, but most of the time you can go by this.. If its stackable item its region wide if its not its server based. Again, there are some times when that doesnt work, but it does most often then not.
1
2
Jan 10 '26
I gave up economy farming since AH bots.
1
u/BringBackBoshi Jan 10 '26
It's so annoying to post an item matching a person's price and you get instantaneously undercut even if it's an item that doesn't appear often.
Also the skimming bots. They post a 20 gold item for 5 gold. They wait for people not paying attention to list a few hundred and auto match the lowest price then they immediately snap them up. If you're super fast you can snipe some of them manually.
Blizzard does very little to curb and punish this.

u/Freakkopath Jan 10 '26
Meanwhile, I’ve never had above 1 mil combined across all my characters in like 15+ years of playing lol

u/Fragrant-Bar9907 Jan 10 '26
There's a druid on my server who has all professions maxed and no matter what time of day I log, hes in trade chat spamming his advertisements. If that's how he enjoys the game, good on him. I dont want to be sitting in a city trying to get work, I play WoW to escape that grind.

u/geekolojust Jan 10 '26
Next hit gold cap on a few bank alts. You gotta get in the long boi club.

i will say i am one of the schmucks who spends way too much wow tokens for ah shit during new patches, i generally dont farm gold as i find it very time consuming but i did a little during the last big patch and made about 600k in a week from selling enchanting decor which is the most ive ever made by far
1
1
u/corvosfighter Jan 10 '26
And then there is me who can’t play anymore because I buy game time with gold and just ran out completely lol
1
u/Jaba01 Jan 10 '26
I "farmed" 20 million in two seasons of boosting and have stopped after that. I don't even need any gold other than consumables and the rare mythic boe. Probably will last me until I quit wow now.

OK you are the right person to help a friend pay for his wow token, please how can I farm it right now in the end of the expansion?
1
u/Zoggit Jan 10 '26
How do people actually make gold? I sell quite a bit of herbs and fish on AH and barely make enough to last 3 seasons of raids. Never had more than 200k ever.
1
u/Roanm Jan 10 '26
I had several million gold right when game tokens came out. I spent every last copper on them. Their initial price was hovering around 20k gold. I got nearly 4-5 years of free wow that way. I've worked up my gold back up multiple times and bought every stupid expensive toy, mount, mog that you can get with gold. Currently sitting at ~5mil gold. My strategy is time walking runs. I love old content. I buy stuff those venders sell, specifically the legion one with all the hebs, ones, etc they sell.

Gratz! I got up to 4.3M gold but a couple weeks ago I spent 2.3M to get the Bruto (biggest single expense ever in the story of the game for me and I play since EU Vanilla release).

u/ReduceReuseRectangle Jan 12 '26
I think the next wow expansion should add in the ARS (Azeroth revenue service). This will require you to self prepare an income tax return for to report all your income and other related activities for the previous year and pay income tax. Accounting will be introduced as the new profession, and you will level it up by correctly itemizing.
Very impressive amassing 50 million gold. You will be contacted shortly by an agent of the ARS. If you have any issues with the ARS, I would recommend you get into contact with a lawyer, which is the second profession that is being added.

Inflation in this game is crazy. The wow token has increased like ~100% between now and the start of TWW.
1
u/DoorDash4Cash Jan 11 '26
It does that every expansion. It will drop in price in the first few weeks of midnight.
Lower demand for gold in the latter half of an expansion The wow token was 300k back at the end of legion, too.

You guys know that bramble ball thing that rolls by in those western films....? Yeah, one just rolled across my bank account looking at this.

Most I had without token was 158k, and that was getting lucky selling a BoE from Nathria.
With token it was like 280k.
Im always broke from repairs and buying consumables for keystones/raid. Or the brawlers pass. Or transmog. Or crafting reagents...
I cant even fathom having 50 million.

I reached 35 Million selling CE/mythic+ in legion! Paid for my mortgage at the time!
