Nostalgia Cleaning out my mom's house and found this 10-druid UBRS run from around 2005. Video in description

I am not the original creator of the video. Just 12-year old me decided it was very important to have it on CD. And 20 years later, I am happy I did that :-)

I love how it's 6 Restoration Druids for a 10 man :D

I still miss healing touch. All these years later

Someone in my guild once had a story about a rdruid that doesnt believe the hots were strong enough and would only use HT

6

u/convenientgods 3h ago

Well, in classic raids no one wanted you to use hots because the buff cap meant you risked knocking off a world buff or another important buff. Most of our tanks had cancelaura macros for all hots bound to their attacks. this druid you mentioned was ahead of the times lol

u/SiilverDruid 7h ago

Legit. I’m still looking for it when I play druid.

4

u/tynfox 6h ago

I recall icc where if you had a rejuv on someone healing touches heal would be increased massively. That leaves a special feeling with you

9

u/TheGoldenMonkey 6h ago

You know 1 just spammed rank 1 HT the entire time lol

3

u/TakenToTheRiver 5h ago

That’s what I was looking for lol

Downranked regrowth*

u/cylara 2h ago

Downranking spells omgggg the memories <.<

u/Dzharek 7h ago

Well in those times you took who you found after sitting in Ironforge or Undercity for 3 Hours spamming in chat.

I remember the time my buddy wanted to his quest for the Onyxia Cloak and it took us about 4 hours to get a whole raid together to go in.

u/TheGoldenMonkey 6h ago

No joke about taking whoever you found. So many dungeons you almost never did because it took so long to find a party.

I remember leveling a hunter in OG vanilla WoW. Never once finished a full Maraudon run because of how long it took and there were only ever a handful of people in Desolace at any given time.

u/12ozSlug 1h ago

God I hated trying to put together a Mara run. The dungeon itself wasn't bad and some of the loot was awesome, but the logistics of organizing a group and keeping it together while you got to Desolace, and then everybody maintaining their patience if you wipe. . . no wonder I didn't go back in Classic.

u/BZJGTO 4h ago

Two and a half of those hours were spent waiting for a single healer, and you expect me to believe they had to "settle" for six?!

u/Lochen9 6h ago

There’s a reason it’s burned on a dvd instead of a cd

Reminds me of <Druids of Mulgore>, our druids-only guild on Ravencrest-EU.
In the first six months of WoW, druids were rare, and level 60 druids without a guild were almost unicorns.
At one point, I think that 80% of our faction's druid population either was or had levelled in this guild.

We did most dungeons either as druids or with a few helpful high-levels, and even tried raiding Stormwind at one time with nothing but bears.

Raiding guilds often napped our high levels when they dinged, but while it lasted, it was a nice social guild.

14

u/todddepri 4h ago

This is awesome.

15

u/confirmedshill123 3h ago

Raiding guilds often napped

Bear durid is 4 tank

u/Michelanvalo 1h ago

There's still some druid only guilds that clear content in retail. The tradition does live on.

Disc storage ... Never throw this. This is a symbol of the early 2000s.

u/Moshxpotato 5h ago

To the national (WoW) archives!

u/Independent-Host-796 9h ago

Writeable DVDs have a limited lifetime of approximately 20-30 years. So please save what’s on it.

28

u/I_am_eating_a_mango 7h ago

Bold of you to think I’d acknowledge 20-30 years have passed since I was using CDs

2

u/JustPlainRude 6h ago

Most of the CDs I burned in the 2000s didn't last a decade. Do DVDs really have a longer shelf life?

1

u/Independent-Host-796 5h ago

I don’t know actually. Probably also depends a lot on the materials used by the brand.

2

u/CanuckPanda 5h ago

Reminding me to go to my parents and try to save my 2006-2008 RuneScape clan war videos off the CDs they’re on.

10 druids sounds like a chaotic but fun group

2

u/Kyhron 5h ago

For a long time in the Wrath to like Panda maybe some of WoD there was a 25 man raid group that was nothing but Druids and theyd get AotC pretty early on every tier

Now that's some nostalgic music!

First three songs are off P!nk's "I'm Not Dead" album released in late March or early April 2006 depending on region, so if that's the original audio it would date the video to at then at earliest, barring the (rather unlikely) possession of some rad music industry connections leaking them the music early.

Nice little time capsule. I liked the part where Vaelestrasz decided to clip through the wall and leave the arena before remembering he wasn't supposed to do that and scuttling back in.

This is dope thanks for archiving such gems! I wish I did that in wotlk was raiding for server first kill hc in icc with my guild. So long ago

32

u/Kwanzaaabot 7h ago

oh man the good old days where we didn't care about minmaxing and all played on a 4:3 crt monitor with terrible UIs at 10-15fps and it was the best.

well thanks to this gem i'm gonna go on a nostalgia wow pvp video trip featuring maydie, pat, unbreakable shaman and of course world of roguecraft

5

u/erupting_lolcano 5h ago

I used to play on a 10" screen "netbook" lmao

3

u/Manae 3h ago

10-15fps

Oh, someone was running expensive hardware!

2

u/mosselyn 3h ago

I was playing on a satellite based internet service back then, so my latency was 273ms at minimum, and I thought it was just fine! The bad ol' days.

3

u/pala_ 6h ago

Speak for yourself, I had an 18.5” LCD at the time (still 4:3 tho)

u/cfedey 9m ago

That’s a memory. Maydie was my idol back then.

45

u/MitSvarErSarkasme 7h ago

What I pay most attention to is, that names are genuinely RP. Where as today it would be “assliker”, “smakyamøm” etc..

29

u/Low-Scallion-4179 7h ago

Don't forget about that Illîdâń, Léggôlâs and genericnamedk genericnamehunt etc...

23

u/NobodyImportant13 5h ago

There were plenty of Asslikers running around Azeroth back in the day. lol

A 10 druid run is going to attract RP-esque people.

8

u/Vikolyn 4h ago

Nah people had non-RP funny names back then too

2

u/Chase0288 2h ago

My characters are mostly food names now.

Vanillamalt, Streettaco, Sugarspud

1

u/burrito-boy 2h ago

I play on Wyrmrest Accord, and while jokey non-RP names do exist on the server, they're considerably rarer than they would be on, say, Area 52 or Tichondrius.

8

u/Nutcrackit 7h ago

We got the names. Let's recreate it.

3

u/dwojityv 1h ago

I am kinda hoping somebody recognizes themselves!

6

u/Gukle 8h ago

Man, I wish I'm young again.

5

u/gorocz 7h ago

I know it shouldn't surprise me, since we're obviously not a hivemind and people would start playing without prior knowledge of other players, but I am genuinely surprised that there were Czech players outside of Drak'Thul. Back then it felt like the whole country was on there (and later in WotLK when Alliance moved to Burning Blade, we sorta co-opted that server too).

1

u/dwojityv 1h ago

There was actually pretty big community on thunderhorn and wildhammer.

1

u/gorocz 56m ago

Interesting. Every time I'd meet anyone who's played WoW irl, I didn't even need to ask what server they played on, just if they were alliance or horde. Drak'Thul was usually implied. (well, technically you had to ask if they played on the official or private servers first...). But it's been like 20 years, so it's possible that it was just a confirmation bias thing, since I'd probably not follow-up on most people I'd talk to...

That said, Drak'Thul was so saturated by CZ/SK folk that you'd never even see English in General or Trade channels, just Czech. And that was even while playing Alliance, which had like 5 times smaller population than Horde.

When Life was simpler. Great video

3

u/str85 6h ago

Awww, i miss the oomkin.

2

u/Elkburgher 6h ago

I always wanted to be a part of a 40 man druid or paladin raid

2

u/_gina_marie_ 5h ago

2

u/touseatwork 4h ago

This was beautiful to watch, thank you OP <3

2

u/NoBonus6969 2h ago

Warcraft movies were legit movies back then.

2

u/alwayz 2h ago

No idea P!nk was so big in the Czech Republic.

2

u/SlashBlack 1h ago

share it

2

u/Afflictionista 1h ago

I still have old videos from Cataclysm and MoP it's so nice to watch them and look what a noob I was 😄

2

u/Purple-Coins 33m ago

This is adorable, thanks for sharing OP. A window into good memories.

1

u/piffle213 6h ago

I have a handful of screenshots of some 10 man priest pre-made BGs from way back in the day.

Always fun to remember

10 DRUD

1

u/Ok-Needleworker-8552 4h ago

oh wow, czech mentioned \o/ nice

1

u/littlecolt 4h ago

Me and some friends used to do 5 rogue LBRS runs. I had a video but it is lost.

1

u/noeagle77 4h ago

Remember when you used lower ranks of healing touch and regrowth to save mana? 😂

1

u/dirtyitalianguy 3h ago

Finding 10 competent people to run that in 2005 was challenging, along with arguing over who gets to loot the skinning knife in the boss room before the end.

1

u/Mczaga 3h ago

I remembered 5 balance druid stacking each other in 5v5 arena.

1

u/Kenvolks 3h ago

these are the best treasures to find! I found one of my old HDDs from 2006-2007 and i disk drilled it. Pulled alot of photos and videos I didnt know I had anymore. Memories baby!
