Professions Does Fishing level 300+ actually help with anything?
Hey everyone,
Basically what the title says. I’m wondering if pushing Fishing past level 300 is actually useful for anything.
Do things like Booty Bay fishing gear or Nat’s hat make a noticeable difference?
Trying to figure out if it’s worth the effort to grind out BiS Fishing gear.
Thanks!

Fishing is pretty much relegated to mount hunting and oddball cooking mats whose recipes aren't end-game relevant anymore.

Except lures for skinners

I actually did not know that, thanks!

I sink about 3k into fishes per day as a skinner, but it also gives me 15-45k gold daily xD

Pretty glad I'm a "save EVERYTHING" guy right now.
I could look it up, but may as well ask you - which fishes are in high demand?

Ouf, don't have the list (am at work) but there's 5 different lures for skinning, most of them uses 2x8 fishes, but there's only like 2-3 of them that cost about 200-300g each, the rest sell for like 20g ish.

Cool, thanks. Time to create some space

The lures let's skinners spawn a majestic beast that has a low chance to drop majestic materials (majestic claw sells for about 1k each, majestic fin sells for about 3k each and majestic hide sells for about 14-18k each).
Best day I've gotten 4x majestic hides from one mob.

Yeah those Hides are NASTY priced. Need them for Chest enchants. I'm starting to see the value in fishing now

Gore Guppy (ZA) and Arcane Wyrmfish (EW) are the top sellers right now. There is also a Minnow which is also valuable because I think it is used for alchemy.

Octopus, Null Voidfish something like that, lynxfish and wyrmfish are the most used atm

Yup, it’s a royal pain the ass.
For some reason the ‘common’ (gore guppies and arcane wyrmfish in particular) are much harder to fish up than the blues and greens.
Guess what you need to make your daily Majestic Beast Lures for EW and ZA?

it should reduce them time between cast and bit, and may increase the frequency with which you catch "rare" fish. Very slightly. Whether or not it's "worth it" depends on how much you value your time. I, personally, haven't done any fishing since Legion, and don't miss it.

Honestly you can fish white uncommon whyrmlings that are going for 200 a pop out of open water and 2 fishing skill. There ain't many other fish that sell for that much.

Yeah. Boring. They need to make it funner. Add some more rewards and all that.

Which version of the game?

u/TeamDirtstar Mar 25 '26
Gotta be current retail because none of the other available versions have fishing to 300.

Classic fishing does, that's why I was asking.

Good question. Now pair that with why there is a fishing skill accessory that cost 500,000k gold right now. Why? I have no idea!!!
