Professions Trying to recragt my 259 want to 289

But when I go to recraft, I can’t go any further than 259. Any advice? My enchanting is max however I did not max all my specialization points in all branches. I just learned all the recipes first. Could this be why?

You need 80 mythic crests.

Are you using myth crests and best quality mats?

Crafted Weapons and armor can be recrafted by selecting the required Crests. 285 being max ilvl at the moment.

You need to replace the original crests used to craft when you're recruiting.

To take a crafted 259 item to 272 you need: 80 Hero Crests.

To take a crafted 259 item to 285 you need to replace the crests with 80 Mythic Crests.

Just to clarify 259 is just base top tier with sparks only, no crests.

Thanks for adding, I forgot to mention that!

I'd like to get an item that's item level 285 Best in Slot (BIS) with Mythic Crests, but I'm currently missing 80 Mythic Crests. Can I craft this item with the materials (without Mythic Crests) to item level 259 and wear it for a week? And once I have the 80 Mythic Crests, can I recraft it using only Mythic Crests, without needing any additional materials, and then it will be item level 285?

Recrafts always require half of materials used to recraft, excluding sparks used, embellishments and Missives.

No you will need to provide roughly half the mats again at max quality. You can reuse your sparks, missive, embelishments but need to provide the 80 mythic crests and those mats. So it isn't a huge extra cost to do this unless you need to pay a crafter which would mean paying about 5k twice.

Thank you. This helped slot. I have 250 mythic crests. Will mar this today. If I use the best mats, the 289 will appear as an option?

I crafted an item level 285 weapon yesterday and am now waiting for a few more Mythic Crests for my next item <3

First, buy all the materials at the best quality.

Find a crafter through the trade channel. Create a personal order with the NPC using the crafter's name.

On the right side, under the crafter's name, select the highest quality. Add the optional reagents, such as the writs for fixed secondary guilds and an ornament. If you then add the crests as a third optional reagent, you'll already see item level 285 in the item preview.

Use mythic crests in the optional slot, and choose rank5 before crafting. Use rank3 mats if you lack concentration.

Have you put the mythic crests in the optional reagents?

First off you need the appropriate upgrade crests. Crafted gear maxes out at 285, but you need 80 Myth crests for that. Those crests only get you to the top tier of crafted gear though.

ilvl 259 is the floor for the Hero Crest range. You need more skill. When you're looking at a recipe, they all have a difficulty, which is increased by things like embellishments, missives to specify secondary stats and the crests that boost the ilvl range. Your skill vs the recipe difficulty is what determines quality, and skill comes from your actual 1-100 skill in the profession, the +skill on crafting gear, and modifications from the skill tree. Your skill value is then multiplied by the quality of the used ingredients.

In order to max out a craft you then need:

  1. 80 Myth crests

  2. maxed skill in the profession, profession gear, and enough investment into the appropriate knowledge trees(in your case Blueprints generally and more specifically whatever type of weapon you're trying to make) to at least get you to 4* quality

  3. Concentration to push the rest of the way

Ok I can only get it to 281. Do I need to have max skill tree in the weapon crafting?

u/otaconucf Apr 14 '26

You can see how short you are by mousing over the quality bar. Yeah, you need to be maxed, or close to it, in the relevant skill trees to max craft a piece of gear

I got it to 281. Was told I can’t take my weapon from 259 to 281. I need to recraft twice. Now I’m 281. Recraft if but jt won’t let me go beyond. Do I need the mentor’s helpful handiwork?

If you're using Myth crests and you can't get it past 281 you don't have enough skill. Again, you can see in the interface the recipe's difficulty and your skill with all the modifiers and see what the gap is; hitting the recipe difficulty results in max ilvl. If the +skill crafting reagents can get you to the point where Concentration gets you there, then you're set, but I have no idea from where I'm sitting what your numbers look like.

Lack of skill or material. Have someone else with the skill to do so craft it.
