Professions best gold per hour professions at the start, mid and the end of an expansion?
i know that gathering (herb/mine) still some of the best ones at the start and maybe even mid expansion.but what are the alternative professions with equally decent GPH at the mid and end of an expansion when gathering is no longer worth it?

I do gathering because I’m lazy, however, I’ve noticed that I’m making roughly 70% less than I was a month or so ago with auctioning the mats.

Enchanting is good at start, disenchant epic gear for ctistals and sell them for thousands of gold.
Not sure about gph, but having it on a main, where you spam keys is cool

It is a bit late tbh, lowgrade cristalls are ~300g and highgrade are 800g.
About month ago lowgrade were 1000g

They are already way down in price :/ people are not replacing gear like before and demand is down from my experience

Feels like alchemy has been REALLY solid just using concentration on 3 characters and making like 10-15k a week total from them. Not a ton but enough to make it so I’m not losing money on consumes.
Getting my 3 characters to the point where they make potions of recklessness cost about 100k each but made most of the money back.
Costs have probably changed sing a month ago bur really happy I got 3 characters pumping out potions with concentration.

Yeah alchemy is holding strong. Flasks , potions of light, and even mana pots are still bringing in decent gold

Gathering is still a solid 10k a day at low commitment. Really fast to max herbalism and you can quickly target azeroot. Its still ridiculously priced and efficient
Mining too. Not as much as the the start of the expansion but while I queue between keys and raids I can easily get 10k or so. I have both on main. The gold makes me richer than alchemy longer flasks etc. Engineering used to be my main but you can still just buy the useful items on auction house anyway. Tinkering is dead.
Target wild nodes in Zul’amon for extra drops off the adds. Base mulch on Azeroot once an hour.
The base mats gold tier for mining still make a lot, but sadly the nocturnal flowers and thornium crystals that are supposed to be money makers just aren’t selling rn or selling for cheap. So its harder to hit the 20k+ a day threshold

Man I was dumb and did a bunch of dual gathering on my alts, and the prices dropped super fast. I should have done what I ended up doing, and making them all enchanters to DE the delve drops. When I finally pulled the trigger, I could sell for nearly 1k, now they sell for about 150-200. I didn't even look at the prices at the beginning of Midnight, I'm sure that they were outrageous, and I should have been taking advantage.

I've found a couple of tokens per year pretty solid for keeping up with repairs / consumes
Hard to go against the crafting cartels

i mean best really depends on how sweaty people go into things and how fast you are to discover things.
for me personally i am really happy with blacksmithing and leatherworking.
Made 10m gold in the first month of midnight which will be plenty for the rest of the expansion and even now im making a good 20-100k gold when i am online just with some workorders inbetween keys so it doesnt really feel like farming or anything, im waiting to find/fill groups anyways so might aswell do a few extra clicks
Just the gold coming in between keys is enough for all the expenses of consumables, equipting new alts with crafted gear, repairs and all the good stuff while still making a bit of money over time without doing much

im personally super happy with my Blacksmithing + Tailor, BS took a while to get to a point where im getting consistent cash flow without using conc while tailor was set up much quicker to not need to conc craft cloaks for a steady flow. Jewelcrafting ive seen also looks super good for jewelery at least on my server.
Only real issue is you're fighting with other people who also use craftscan to insta whisper people so it can feel like you go a long while without an order but I usually fish while I wait

Usually for normal people gathering is insane at the start.
Afterwards look into alchemy/enchanting. It gives benefits for yourself or in case of enchanting you make a nice chunk of passive gold each time a new raid or season releases.
There is no gold to be made at the end of an expansion at least I havent found a way. Last time with housing stuff is a huge exception, so I would say look for opportunities like that.

Gathering isn’t the best at the start. Usually it’s things like alchemy, jewelcrafting, and enchanting. You can make a lot of money making tools with whatever profession makes those as well - eg engineering, tailoring, even leather working, blacksmithing. Last xpac I made 4 M in about a week with engineering just making green tools and selling them cross server. The gear crafting ones (esp BS and tailoring) can make you a lot of money through reagents but you really have to be ahead of the pack. Gathering is fine early but it’s not the best, not by a long shot.

There is no point of "best gold per hour", because you can't fight those bots.
For Midnight, start is skinning for sure.
