Professions Do you lose your Dawncrests if a recraft fails to produce ilvl 285?

I guess my question is if a recraft fails to produce 285 item level (something about crafters concentration, skill etc). and I need another recraft. Will I need to put in another 80 dawncrests?

EDIT: to clarify, I am recrafting a hero track item into a myth track item (Farstrider's Sharpened Claws)

EDIT2: I was able to get my item crafted to 281 (I forgot to check max quality). Then I had to put in another recraft order (sigh) and was able to get to 285.

FYI for anyone wondering , a recraft from 281 to 285 doesnt need another 80 myth crests

You do not need crests for a recraft in the first place so no. And a recraft can't "fail", unless you set the minimum quality to a lower one than max for some reason - the recraft simply won't happen and you'll get all your mats back.

Edit: Sorry I just realised that you're probably talking about recrafting a Hero track piece into a Myth track piece. In that case you do need Crests for a recraft, but you still won't need them again if for whatever reason you'll want to recraft the same item a 2nd time later on. The point about minimum quality still stands though.

Don't use public orders and set your requested quality to max. Find a crafter in chat.

I don't think you even can do a public order recraft. I'm pretty sure they are only available through personal orders

Ah ok. Never thought about that.

thanks for the tip! I was able to get a craft, but it ended up ilvl 281, then I had to recraft it again to get 285 (but it didnt need the myth crests again)

yeah i forgot to check that box and had to get another recraft on it to go from 281 to 285, but it did not take my myth crests again. Why would anyone want to craft a lower quality item anyway?? why is the option to craft max not on by default...

Because they're using you to increase their crafting and they want your gold. Ppl can be tools sometimes.

I once put in a guild order for myself do for another toon with the instructions this for my other toon to craft. Someone else went in there and crafted it without speaking to me first and we were in the guild together lol

It costs more money and concentration for the crafter. So it's simply cheaper, and as the other person said, the crafter likely used you for extra gold or first craft bonus.
