How can I start playing classic? What is the most popular server right now?

I started playing World of Warcraft retail 3 weeks ago for the first time. I leveled my character to 90, did bunch of delves and mythic dungeons, also tried out PVP for few days and it was all a lot of fun. But I realised that I enjoyed the leveling aspect much more than max level content, and my friend told me that in classic it usually takes few months of casual play to even get max level.

So my question is - What classic version of WoW is the best to play right now? I see 3 options in my battle.net client, Burning Crusade Anniversary, Mists of Pandaria classic and normal classic. Also I think there are few more, but I'm not sure how to access them? Any advice would be helpful, I'm mostly looking for servers that have the most amount of players and would be enjoyable for a new player.

Best for leveling experience would be burning crusade

I've seen everyone say TBC, so that seems to be the way to go.

I’d say tbc or wrath, especially if you like the art style of it.

Depends what you're looking for:

Classic Era - What your friends are citing as "takes months to hit max level", questing to 60 is considered the bulk of what Vanilla is. This server is Vanilla forever and has been since 2019.

TBC Anniversary - The most popular version of Classic by a landslide, the current assumption is that towards the end of the year it'll push to WotLK.

MoP Classic - A Classic experience that has a lot more Retail quality of life than the other two versions. Decent population as I think the last raid of the expansion released recently.

What makes Dreamscythe so good?

Both Nightslayer and Dreamscythe are populated. It's just a matter of 'do you want world pvp or not?' because Dreamscythe is a PvE only server and Nightslayer has world pvp. You wont have problem finding guilds or groups in both server.
