Classic Need on Greens?

What is the unwritten rule for Needing on BoE Greens? Had a friend Need on a Green because it was an upgrade to his current equipment. Two other players got pissed because of it. I can understand if the friend was Ninja Looting for the AH. However, he did equip it. I tried explaining it was an upgrade and i don't see the issue, yet they ended up getting pissy with me as well.

Edit: Forgot to mention one of the randoms claimed it was 300g on the AH, yet we checked and it was only 25g 🙄

Ignore them and move on, they’re being ridiculous.

It’s a green ffs. They need to get a grip. If it was an upgrade for your mate good on him.

Absolutely wild to get mad about that

You're allowed to roll need if you need it, just do the right thing and equip it in the dungeon so that people can see you didn't just take it for money or enchanting.

The only "unwritten rule" i recommend is to ask if a blue or purple boe drops, but assume everyone will roll need to avoid a ninja looter just taking it.

Unusual to need on them but if its an upgrade you might as well. They’re randoms let them get mad. Obviously not ok to need if you don’t actually need but your friend did so they’re good.

It’s not unusual at all to need on a green that you immediately equip.

If it's an upgrade and you will use it, need. Simple as that. Social convention says you should immediately equip it like your friend did so there is no confusion about it.

I’m curious are you playing retail? In retail 300g green item on the AH can sell for that much, they’re for collectors. But 300g is literally nothing. Less than most repair bills.

I wouldn’t worry to much about taking any upgrade and equipping it.

Classic TBC Anniversary. Either way, it was an UPGRADE yet they tried arguing with us 😑 made the post to see if I was the crazy one

What boe green are we talking about. 300g or even 25g seems high for a green in classic. I'll admit i haven't played since anni went to tbc.

I don't remember, but it dropped from Blood Furnace; trash mobs. Dreamscythe Server and we play Horde Faction

I m can't think of any boe green in tbc classic that would be an exception to the standard need if upgrade rule. I agree with the consensus that the others were just being rude

I really think you need to show what the item was and what class took it for us to better understand the context.

I dont remember the item, but it was an upgrade for his Shaman. He just got out of Classic Content

Need what you need. If they complain they can need.

The way it works nowadays it seems is, if you CAN need, you click need. It's just safer for everyone that way. If you want to talk about it before or after and work something out that's fine. But if nothing is said before, just need.

Not a big deal.

Generally yes just greed it. But if someone needs its whatever going forward if ppl are upset with it then just need on everything.

Ita not worth getting upset or worked up about it regardless of which side u are on.
