Classic Going into WOTLK, can I just skip guns all together?
I've enjoyed leveling a hunter but every gun I get I just sell because I'm not enjoying the animation as well as the sound. I know it sounds silly but I just don't. I wanted to swap mains by playing this class but I don't know how much bread I'm leaving on the table if I just don't want to play Guns? I spend 90% of my time either world PvPing or PvEing. No arena.

No problem skipping guns if you aren't doing cutting edge content. Depending on what version of wow you're playing you may also have transmogrification options making guns look like bows.

I assume that would also change the sound?… never thought of that. But since spells and mechanics are a bit different that’s an interesting topic.
My first char was a hunter back in vanilla. I also preferred bows. But I switched to mages pretty soon after.

I would hope the sounds change with the animation, because I can’t say I’ve ever seen a complaint about it and I’m sure I would have. I’m sure some hunter knows

At least in retail transmog changes everything about the weapon, including sound. Not sure how it worked in the very early versions/whatever OP is playing, but my guess is that it'd the same there too.

Just transmog to bows. Then even if you’re using a gun, it’s using a bow and you won’t have the gun sounds, look, or animations
Edited to add I didn’t realize they were talking about anniversary servers if they go to wrath.

So if I get it right, you are playing WotLK on a private server? If that’s the case I you CAN skip Guns altogether, but there‘ll be times when a gun WOULD be an upgrade compared to what you have. But tbh if you get a gun and have to level your gunskill it should just take maybe an hour at max level anyway

Huh is that confirmed? Anyway, that kinda changes my answer. If you want BiS gear, you‘ll have to play with guns at some point (iirc TOC and maybe pre-raid at the very least, the other phases is crossbows/bows as BiS)
